I went to the first Celebration Europe in London in 2007. It was pretty awesome and I had a great time.
Alot of the stars were there, even Mark Hamil.. but you had to pay to meet them and get an autograph.. I wasn't that interested. I was happy enough to see them at the end of a huge line
-
thats cool with me. I just hope they give him a costume
-
since we only saw a couple new figures at Toyfair, what else has the Hasbro Joe team been doing during the year-long hiatus?
any plans to release more of those 30th and/or POC figures from the concept case shown last year at JoeCon?
-
saw it on cartoon network. it was cool but only like 22 minutes. is that long enough for a dvd release?
-
Mother vs. daughter should be an interesting match-up.
it was the closest yet. I actually voted for Padme.
the next round will have some tough ones on the light side
-
what about Luke turning to the Dark side? as is seen in the Dark Horse comics...
as for the old reluctant hero motif... I love it. Clint Eastwood does it in a ton of his movies.. and it works every time
-
Hasbro uses metal for chains etc.
do they? I can't think of any figures I have that do.. maybe that Desert Stormshadow recently?
-
just out of curiosity, why do you stick with the Valor Vs Venom/Spytroops style torso, instead of the 25th/modern torso?
-
cool cuffs.. but I am the kind of collector that doesn't like to add things that wouldn't be seen in production.. Hasbro wouldn't do anything in metal, so these are a pass for me
-
Well, the Spy Troops and Valor vs. Venom lines still stand as my favorite Joe era, so I'd like to see some of those guys make it back.
The top of my list would have to be: Hi-Tech, Link Talbot, Bombstrike, and an update of Wild-Bill in his Spy Troops look.
Of course my big want is still Sgt. Savage.
different strokes for different folks I guess.. lol
to me, guys like Hi-Tech and Link Talbot are some of the worst characters/figures of all time #US1#
-
you mean the dolls?
-
ugh.. you are talking about the worst era in the history of GiJoes for me.. the era after the reissues and before the 25th stuff was very painful for me to watch.
But I'll do my best to imagine some figures I would like to see in the modern era style.
2000 - Big Ben (arctic), Dialtone (green), Duke (camo), Dusty (red beret), Major Bludd (brown with grenades)
2001 - Fast Blast Viper, Laser Viper, Crossfire
2002 - Undertow (crimson), Fast Blast Viper (crimson), Dusty (night force, Blowtorch (GvC), Dart (GvC), Stalker (GvC), Wildbill (GvC)
2003 - Chief Torpedo, Cross Hair, Heavy Water, Sand Viper, AirViper (JoeCon), Joe Con Python Patrol (HEAT viper, Laser viper, Lampreys, Major Bludd, Saw Viper, Rock viper)
2004- Swamp Rat
2005, Destro (JoeCon), Sgt. Mutt (DTC), Spirit (DTC), Sgt.Bazooka (VvV), Major Bludd (DTC)
2006 - Major Bludd (JoeCon), Desert Range Viper (JoeClub exc), Desert Flak Viper (JoeClub exc), Jungle Night Viper (JoeClub exc), Grandslam (DTC),

uh.. I was being serious.
what would you like to see in Episode 7?
-
my feelings exactly! i want to see all of the originals in the first movie, it's the best, propper, and really the only way to have a "passing of the torch". if it's done right...
Okay...let's all think and try to remember instances where "passing the torch" has worked on film.
Um...
what would you prefer instead? A movie that doesn't feature any characters from the previous films?
I don't see how that could be possible, since this is being called Episode 7
or would you just prefer them to recast all of the characters?
what is your solution to Episode 7?

Looks like Brian Urlacher is done with the Bears.
sad day for me. Urlacher isn't what he was because of his injuries last year (bad knee injury to end the 2011 season that carried over into all of 2012), but he was still a good player for us in our system.
I think the Bears should have re-signed him, definitely. But they didn't have much money and he wanted what he was used to getting. They couldn't give him what he wanted, not even close. But they should have cut some other players or re-structured some contracts to get close to what he wanted.
I don't think he will get how much he wanted from another team. And I fear that when he goes to another team he won't play very well because it will be a different system that doesn't suit him as well.

hah those looks pretty cool. I am just guessing that those figures are just a little smaller than current Joes. Seems like they would work to me, but it might be a stretch on some things.
It says they are available in TRU stores.. so next time I go in I'll have to check it out just for fun
-
I saw them at TRU last week. I didn't check the price, but I wasn't all that interested in either of the figures. They have the black dude wearing the green outfit. I think the body is from the Resolute cobra trooper. Not bad, but not all that cool either. Then they have the tan dude wearing jeans and a tan vest. I think the body is from 25th Torch. I don't remember where his head is from.
but yeah, the box is open and they are in there with twist ties.. so I agree that some jerks might just grab the figures out.
-
I am not worried about it.. mostly because I don't have alot invested into the characters.
but it should be fun.. and heck, who knows, it might be the best one yet just because it will be so different and in space.. where things won't need to be made so "realistic"

Kevin Kolb has been dumped by the Cardinals. The Jets want to sign him. Why? Don't they have enough problems at QB?
Yes, the Jets have problems at QB. They should of realized his when the term "butt fumble" entered the lexicon.
CLASSIC!
butt fumble !!!
-
wow.. only 32 characters! they should have made it 64.. but this sounds fun.
I see Vader winning, beating Yoda or Obi in the final round
-
yup. all the Ravens players are leaving now because Flacco got way overpaid
-
The best TRU has had was BOGO50% off, which is the same. Who knows, they could have them on sale for $5-$7. They recently had the SW figs for $5(& one weekend BOGO50% off at the same time)... so we'll see. I have to hit another store today, see they were any better.
I think TRU might do a Buy 2 get the 3rd free.. which they have done in the past.
Target even did a buy one get one free with Spidey recently.. if I recall correctly.. so it's not impossible that they will do something with GiJoe too
or maybe a store will do a mix/match sale where they include Marvel figures too.
there just isn't that much on the shelves that I am in a hurry to get right now anyhow.
I'll probably get w2 Snake Eyes and Joe Colton, and maybe Alley Viper, Dark Ninja, and Lady Jaye (just for the weapons).. but I am not excited about any of them.
I am much more excited about the "Ultimate" figures and guys like NightViper and Kwinn
-
I'll wait for a better sale.. hopefully.
maybe stores will have something along the lines of a BOGO when the movie drops
-
Ray Rice is probably more pissed that Boldin was traded to the Niners for a sixth round pick and Mante Tao will be their first round pick.
that's what happens when you give an average QB all of your money.. you can't keep anyone else.
Flacco said it wasn't about the money, he just wanted the respect. Then he said he supported Boldin when Boldin didn't want to restructure his own 6 million contract. So the Ravens had to get rid of Boldin because they couldn't afford him
