  2. Darth Vader or, at least the voice of the Sith lord, (as well as, The Lion King's Mufasa), James Earl Jones, and Jon Favreau (Iron Man, Solo, and The Mandalorian) are among those who will be honored during the Disney Legendsceremony. The presentation, hosted by Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger, will take place Friday, August 23, during the D23 Expo. "JON FAVREAU started his career with appearances in film and television and has since become one of Hollywood’s most successful producers and directors. Jon’s first roles included appearances on TV shows such as Seinfeld and Friends, but his big break came with the Miramax indie film Swingers (1996), for which he wrote the screenplay, starred, and co-produced. His directing credits include Iron Man (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), the live-action remake of The Jungle Book (2016), and this year’s reimagining of The Lion King. Jon also made appearances in several Marvel Cinematic Universe films as Tony Stark’s loyal bodyguard, Happy Hogan. As an executive producer for Marvel Studios, John holds credits on such films as Iron Man (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Iron Man 3 (2013), Marvel’s The Avengers (2012), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), and Avengers: Infinity War (2018). He has also voiced characters for Disney television shows and feature films, including Hercules (TV, 1999), Buzz Lightyear of Star Command (TV, 2000), G-Force (2009), Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TV, 2010–13), and Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018). Jon is writing and executive producing the live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian for Disney+, which will premiere this November." "JAMES EARL JONES started his acting career with television and film roles, including appearances in As the World Turns (1966) and Dr. Strangelove (1964). But the Oscar®, Emmy®, and Tony® Award-winning actor is well known for his iconic voice acting, beginning with the role of Darth Vader in Star Wars: A New Hope (1977). This villainous vocal performance was reprised in subsequent Star Wars films, including most recently in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) and TV shows like Star Wars Rebels (2014–18). His voice can also be heard in Disney Parks around the globe, including recurring vocal performances as Darth Vader for Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. Other Disney credits include ABC’s Recess in 1998 as the voice of Santa Claus, narrator for the Disneynature film Earth (2009), segment host for Fantasia/2000 (2000), and as the celebrity narrator for the Candlelight Ceremony at Disneyland. Audiences also recognize the actor’s basso profundo as that of Mufasa in The Lion King (1994), a role James Earl would return to in The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride (1998), The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar (2015), and this summer’s reimagining of The Lion King. You can check out the full list at D23.com.
  3. Following the recent announcement that, after the December release The Rise Of Skywalker, the next Star Wars film will not be released until 2022; Disney CEO Bob Iger confirms the next series of films will be written and produced by “Game of Thrones” showrunners. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss These films, first announced last year, will be separate from the Skywallker saga. (Source: LATimes)
  4. When Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker is released in theaters in December, it will mark, not only the end of the Skywalker Saga, but also, John Williams final score in the series. SlashFilm talks to the legendary composer about his 40+ year journey. When The Force Awakens opened in 2015, Williams said,“To be able to work for nearly 40 years, off and on, on the same subject and to be able to add themes and musical material to the glossary of themes that went before and try, as I have tried in the new film, to keep it organically related, is not only a unique challenge but tremendous fun,... And I feel very privileged to have that very special, unique opportunity after 40 years, and to have the energy to do it. I feel nothing but great good fortune.” Williams is currently working on The Rise Of Skywalker, and has so far written about 25 minutes of score in about a month. Having seen an early cut of the film, Williams "beams", saying, he likes what he has seen “very much.” (Source: SlashFilm)
  5. This week's custom is a 3 3/4" "Spider Maul" by Darth Daddy "Hidden beneath all the scraps of ProCreate, Green Stuff, and scalvaged plastic scraps is part of a B'Omarr Monk action figure that we affixed below a 100% sculpted Darth Maul head on top of a torso that were both handcrafted by Darth Daddy. The sculpt was strategically attached to a hidden articulated limb that we surrounded by plastic strips securely held in place with hockey tape cuttings to mimic Maul's bandages. The spider body was wrapped in wire, littered with unlimited numbers of plastic cuttings and assorted sculpted pieces that were held in place with model cement, and enthusiastically weathered with cinnamon to age all of the chaotic paint work that was applied. Props to Elias for painting on Maul's tattoos." Check out the image(s) of their custom below in our GALLERY! 8. This week's custom is a couple of Imperial Ghost Troopers by Hemble Creations "Hi All, I can't take the credit for painting the Death trooper white, I saw Herman Guerrero on the Bandai Star Wars FB paint his 1:12 Death trooper white a few years back and loved it so I did a 1:12 one as well. Once I had finished I needed a name for him so I called it a Ghost trooper and the name has stuck ever since. Ghost Trooper 1:28mm Recipe. Troopers - are from Fantasy Flight Games SW Legion game and I built them straight out of the box and they were painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints and Pastel chalks. Base - is a base from the SW Legion Scout trooper speeder bike set and the cliff face back section is foam and the front is a rock mould from Woodland Scenics. once the rock mould was secured I used spakfilla on both sides and blended it in with the mould. The sand is a mix of fine sand and spakfilla and applied and once dry the base was painted and weathered using Vallejo Paints and Pastel chalks." 11. Hop into a starship, grab a lightsaber, and become the hero you were meant to be with Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures. The series of animated shorts celebrates the characters and stories of a galaxy far, far away, featuring a bright and colorful art style, exciting action, and insight into the saga's greatest themes!
  12. May 3, 1999 The first products based on "Episode 1" were officially released. I don't believe I went to the 'Midnight Madness"event, but, I do remember running around a day or two later, checking out the books (like the 'sticker book with image of "Bail Antilles"(?)), the soundtrack cd (with the infamous spoiler track, "Qui-Gon's Noble End"), and of course, the toys. I believe the first two figures I picked up were Padme/Queen Amidala and Darth Maul. What are your memories from that time? Feel free to post in the comment section.
