  1. Hi all! We are doing our second GI Joe day at our shop in Chicago. We're a small space but we have a lot planned including letting folks come and set up tables and sell/trade their own stuff outside of our shop if they like (obviously weather permitting). We do have a few tables ourselves but those are first-come/first-served. Also, Tim Seeley will be on hand signing so if you have some GI Joe books he worked on, bring those by to have him sign. Sketches will probably happen as long as there's not too big of a demand and he has time to do some. For more info check out our site here http://www.toydejour.com/events or the Facebook event page - https://www.facebook.com/events/211448479377282/ There will be food/drinks, trivia w/prizes, giveaways and a buncha other Joe fans to chat with!
  2. Just as the topic says, here's a review with some photos. Pretty solid wave. (The gallery is at the bottom of the review for those like me that just want to see a bunch of pics). Toy de Jour #306 - Marvel Legends Hobgoblin wave
  3. Sure they're LBC but they're super fun and easy. This also doesn't play out right because Scratchy wins and it's not supposed to end that way. I just liked the idea of him being out numbered by Itchies. I also think I like them as a biker gang, the one SW figure is out of place but he's the more civilized of the group. Toy de Jour (298) Itchy & Scratchy action figures - Toy de Jour
  4. I'm a fan of anything that mentions golobulus... Nice work man! I'll be looking for the full length when it's released. -Sam
  5. I don't remember hearing about these figures - http://i.toynewsi.com/g/index.php?mode=view&album=Finds%2FGIJoe_4&pic=388762_169609593136147_158466830917090_306097_560836244_n.jpg&dispsize=800&start=0 Sam
  6. Well I was born in St. Louis so I've got Duke, Storm Shadow (per some filecards) and Spearhead (who was in Kirkwood I believe, and is very close to St. Louis). I know back at DDP I would fight for Storm Shadow's birthplace to be St. Louis and they'd never give it to me. -S
  7. I have a carded City Strike Snake Eyes that I'd like to trade straight up for a ROC Kamakura. PM if you're interested. Thanks! -Sam
  8. This may be old news, but did anyone notice the Mech shadow that's coming off of Gristle? Sorry to bring something up if it's already been talked about. -S
  9. I spotted this at a WalMart in St. Louis last weekend, with Star Wars figures. And I've noticed it there numerous times before this, so I finally brought it to someone's attention. Usually they've been using one of the old storm troopers (I personally don't understand returning troop-builders) from 97 or so. But this most recent trip, I saw a rather interesting swap. Someone bought the figure, painted it, and then returned it. I was going to bring it to the attention of the customer service desk to pay attention more, maybe compare the image of the character to the one being returned, but they really don't know these characters enough to do that. They really should inspect the package more when taking returns though. But at the customer service desk the line was like 10 people deep and I didn't feel like waiting so I showed the woman stocking in the toy section and pointed out what was wrong with each package. There were three this time. I bet I'll see them next time too though...
  10. The 36B cover is by Herbe Trimpe, which I'm hoping rings a bell for most of you. I'm sure going to miss this. @smilepunch@
  11. Hey all - I've started a toy review website and the newest listing is of the Mighty Mugs figure of Darth Vader. Check it out. -Sam
  12. That sketch was one of my favorites I've ever seen. Always count on Joe Con to see some of the best ideas come down on a comic backing board! -Sam I am just curious if you (Sam Wells) will continue to attend the Con even if Hasbro f's up and sends the liscence else where! (I really enjoy your work) -Kevin I've only ever been able to make it to the show when DDP is helping with the bill, but now I've made so many friends, I'd be crazy to miss it. -Sam

  14. This is a shot of where most of my G1 stuff is. I'd have to round up a bunch of stuff though as I have things in boxes all over the place. Still thinking about how to do it. I like the idea of selling the pieces that will do well then selling the rest as a lot. Might go with that one. -Sam
  15. I have quite a bit of TF stuff including figures from G1 to the Classics line and was wondering how everyone would suggest selling it all? I don't mind selling it as a lot on eBay but wondered if people have had better luck selling the individual items instead. My stuff is 97% out of packaging. Thoughts?
  16. Issue 25 will have this as a poster in the center two pages of the book that you can pull out (without loosing any of the story pages) and it will also be accompanied by a key telling you exactly who everyone is. -Sam
  17. I'm the Assistant Publisher. Which means I get to do all the fun stuff, like spreadsheets and such. I feel sorry for everyone else here that has to draw and write and design. However, G.I. Joe: Special Missions Brazil was written by me and will be in stores by the end of the month so check that out! -Sam
  18. Saboteur, I let GIJoePrices.com sort of slip away. I got really busy when I started working here at DDP and didn't really have time to manage the site. I really wanted another site to incorporate it but nothing really came of that either (again my fault). I didn't renew the url this year when the time came, though I meant to. The angelfire base site is still up and running though - GIJoePrices.com Just bookmark that page. I felt bad having that mystery figure go for a week, then a month, then a year. It was Shockwave V1 by the way. I had a whole bag of figures set aside to give away on the site every month. -Oh well, maybe some day I'll have some time to update the site and devote to making it new and cool again. If anyone knows a site that it could hook up to, let me know! -Sam
  19. Oh, and just because it was sitting in my photobucket - Lady Brain!
  20. Here's his trial run for the mech - If anyone feels like posting a link to this thread in the TF section be my guest. I just didn't want to double post a thread. Heck, if anyone wants to put it in a Power Rangers section too, go for it. I sort of meshed a lot of toys here...
  21. We were messing around with my Dinobot figure and I realized that the peg on his back was about the same size as a G.I. Joe back pack, so jokingly he became just a backpack for Joes. Then we looked at how he'd look as sort of a Motorized Action Pack. Ultimately it turned into a battle mech for Cobra. He looks good with the bronze colored Overkill on there too... -Sam
  22. Well holy crap and balls. I just saw this post. We had a blast here, my wife and I threw our second annual "Cinco de Mustache" party for my birthday. Everyone grows out their mustaches for the party and those who can't wear fake ones. Lot of fun. Cool surprise, I got the Optimus Alternator, some Optimus Prime skate deck toy and someone framed an issue of Xstatics for me that I really liked. My wife got me a cross stiched image of Megaman with the words "you got a great wife" - just like when you'd "get" a new weapon for beating someone in the games. I'm going to get a frame for that soon. But yeah, thanks so much for the B-day wish. HAPPY B-DAY Nerd-Viper! -Sam
  23. Well I made a vow that the first thing I see about the Transformers movie, will be the Transformers movie. This will get increasingly harder once the commercials start on regular TV but as for now the worst part was having to leave the theatre when the trailer was playing. I've avoided threads about sneak peeks, toys and anything else related. And I've had to skip pass a few pages in various Toyfare issues, but so far so good. Even had to avert my eyes when Myspace had TF on their main page. But I think this might actually work out. Heck, maybe this will make me enjoy it more than most. Especially after all the negative rumblings I've been noticing. Am I alone in this? Is there anyone else that's doing the same as me? I guess they might not actually look at this thread though... @smilepunch@ -Sam
  24. If selling off your collection wasn't something that needed to be done to get you out of a financial jam, why didn't you just wait until the movie hit and everyone and their mom was on eBay trying to get an Optimus? You might have done quite a bit better then with your stuff. Just my opinion. -Sam
