  1. During the cluster-F that was going on at HTS last Monday around noon EST, I somehow managed to send my order through 4 times without knowing it. I didn't even think it went through at all until I was able to check my email later that day. I tried to cancel my extra orders, but they had already 'pre-shipped'. I'm keeping 2, sold 2 to some friends, and I'm looking to trade the other 2 (both black suits) for a black head destro pack and/or some bats or snow serpents. If anyone's interested, shoot me a PM.

Edit: Made deals for both. Thanks!

  2. I think a lot of you guys are missing the point. The show was created to be a 22 minute commercial that would make kids (us) beg our parents to buy us the characters and vehicles we had just seen on tv.

This was the 80's, the glory days when cartoons and action figures went together like at kids and cake. You didn't need a story that made any kind of sense, you just needed a cool looking concept, a hero that fought for freedom (someone representing western ideals), an oppresive villian who wanted to rule the world with an iron fist (a communist), and a contract with a factory in china. Thats not to say the same concept doesn't work today, its just harder to keep a kids attention now than it was 20 years ago.

Yeah, some had better writing than others, but the basic premise was always the same: watch this show, buy these products. GI Joe, He-Man, Thundercats (probably the worst offender, that show didn't even make sense to me when I was 6), Silverhawks, Starcom, MASK, even the venerable Transformers.

  3. Once smalljoes had them in stock, I cancelled my bbts case and just got the set from smalljoes. It was $15 less and I didn't end up with an extra wild bill/ torpedo that I had no use for.

I generally preorder everything from bbts just to be safe, then cancel if I find it cheaper before they get their stock in.

  4. I have 2 extra black suit sdcc cc's (moc). When HTS crashed on monday, my order went through 3 times and they couldn't cancel it.

Looking to trade 1 each for:

    black head destro/ig comic pack

    3x BAT

    3x snow serpent

any combo of bats and snow serpents adding up to 3

    all must be moc

I paid $17 (tax + shipping)and change for each on hts, so this seems pretty reasonable to me. I'm really just trying to recoup my costs by trading for things I'm gonna buy anyway. PM me if interested.

  5. BEST NEWS YET! We're getting Night-Vipers. F*** YEAH! I've bought 2-3 of some of the other troop builders in this line, but I'll be getting a TON of Night Vipers! The 2 removable knives really seal the deal on this figure. From the looks of it, this version of the Night Viper could 1-up the original.

Not to crap all over your Night Viper Party, but I'm pretty sure thats a custom as well.

  6. Has anyone checked out the Major Bludd from the box set? I saw a picture on Hisstank. I thought it looked pretty good.

I just took a closer look at that pic and it looks like he has a hiss driver body. One less custom that needs to be made...

  7. So it's been a while since my last custom, or even since I was actively involved in a Joe forum, but I had some free time this week and decided to try my hand at a 25th custom.

I'm not entirely pleased withthe outcome. I pretty much destroyed the torso getting it apart and had to superglue the left hand on after the peg snapped off. Anyway, Here's the pics:

Here he is with an earlier incarnation:

    ww2se12.jpg

    Parts:

    Snow Job Torso/Arms

    SE Head/Legs/Hands

A friend of mine is starting up a Joe site mostly dedicated to vehicle customs (he's obsessed with making a vamp into an RC car) later this summer. He's offered me some space to do some custom projects and I think I'm going to keep the WW2 theme going, so hopefuly there's more to come.

  8. I got my stuff today. My order was pretty much all for custom fodder. In particular, I ordered 10 Barrell Roll's, but when I opened the box, there were 19 of them! And all the rest of my stuff was there! This is the first time a shipping error worked in my favor, so I'm a little excited.

Now what the hell am I gonna do with 19 Barrell Rolls?

  9. I've already posted this guy on a couple other boards, but wanted to share the love over here as well.

This CC was done a couple of months ago, but when I tried to assemble him, the paint literally melted in my hands. I said many words that can only be represented by the following characters: !@#$%^&* . Then I soaked the parts in hot soapy water for a few days, but when they were clean,I was to angry to paint him up again. I finally forced myself to finish him a couple of nights ago.

I had wanted to do a CC for a whaile, but when I saw the 2 new ones we're getting, I saw no reason to do either of the iconic 'helmet' or 'rag face' CC's. Then I found this head in my fodder bin (thank you gtg) and got to work. I was going for a RELOADED/ARBCO pyramid scheme look. I know some people won;t like it because it's not the classic look, and others will like it for the very same reason. I see no reason why a custom figure can't look different than the original character. Thats why it's a custom. And now I've gotten sidetracked. If you've read this far, congratulations. Here are the pics:

The first pic is no flash, the second with a flash, and the third is his weapon of choice, a 'customized' Walther P38 theat happens to turn into a giant robot (thank you Marauder Inc.).

  10. I'd like another chance to get one of the cold slither shirts you had last year, even though I'm not going to be able to make it to the con.

  11. Thanks fellas. I was thinking about having a rubber stamp made with a cobra emblem on it. Then I could just stamp the emblem and touch it up with a brush. Now I just need to find aplace that makes stamps...

Urbacca - I was thinking about using that torso with this head, but wanted him to look a little more plain. Your's is sweet though.

pheonixsword - The only problem with the Wide Scope torso is that the only arms that fit (without significant mods) are the Wide Scope arms, which have little girl hands.

    Thanks again.

This guy was a pain. I was painting purple on blue and black and thought I was done, only to take some pics and realize I'd missed dozens of spots. I know he needs an emblem, but I can;t paint freehand and the stickers didn't look great. He also needs tools.

    Fire away...

  13. I've had these guys finished for a couple of weeks now, I just haven't gotten around to posting them yet. There's really not much else to say.

I like the idea of CG's, but dress uniforms only go so far. These guys have to be able to fight, so I made a cg that looked like he could kick a little ass. I gave him a few light blue so he could maybe be considered an immortal, depending on my mood.

  14. What parts did you use?

    Head - cast Sliptstream

    Torso - Alpine

Arms - DTC Footloose (the same as Alpine)

    Waist/legs - DTC Footloose

    Helmet/jet-pack - gtg cast

Thanks for all the feedback! I'm glad you guys dig him.

  15. Like many of you out there, I never had a Starduster growing up. Hell, I never had any mail-away's. I was deprived. I'd like to own a real one someday, but I have to cut back on toy spending 'till after the wedding. Anyway, I'v seen several really well done Starduster customs and decided to give it a whirl.

The head, helmet, and jet pack are all cast from gtg. I hate painting eyes.

I got the idea for the helmet from another Starduster custom I saw somewhere, I can't recall who or where. If you're out there, thanks. ;)

    Thanks for lookin'.

Man that flash is brutal on my app's.

  16. Thats nicely done. I'd give a spray with some dull- cote to take down the shine, but otherwise very sharp, especially the sculpting on the head!

As far as the legs, try bending the waist piece back (like making the figure arch his back and scream KAHN!!!! at the the ceiling). Sometimes that helps the legs and t-bar kind of pop into the proper position.
