  1. Hi all, Just wondering who else here is planning to pick this baby up: http://www.hasbro.com/starwars/pl/page.new.../dn/default.cfm Even though I already have the original Interactive Yoda, this one looks unique enough that it's worth getting - looks to me like they've actually made it a bit simpler than the original Interactive Yoda (whilst the lightsaber Jedi training stuff was great, it's also more for the dedicated IMO). What do you guys think? Who else is planning to pick the new Call Upon Yoda up, and (perhaps most importantly) does anyone have any idea when he's due for release? I'd be in heaven if it was due for a UK release before my birthday (April 24th)! EDIT: Also, does anyone know whether the voice for this little guy is done by Frank Oz, as per the original Interactive Yoda? I'd be willing to bet yes, but it'd be good to know for sure. Take care, and thanks for listening!
  2. Hi all, I'm just emerging from the shadows with a quick query - Will Riker's clone twin "Tom" Riker, created in a freak transporter accident, made his second appearance in Star Trek - Deep Space Nine, where he was captured by the Cardassians. Is this his last appearance in official Star Trek canon (i.e., excluding novels, comic books, etc.)? Somebody asked me this question the other day and I'm 99.9% sure that the DS9 episode "Defiant" is Tom Riker's last appearance - please could somebody confirm this for me? Many thanks! Take care, and thanks for listening!
  3. Chris here... Star Trek was something that creeped into my conciousness as something I was curious about, mainly via TOS - I watched "The Naked Time" when I was 9 but was a bit young to fully appreciate it. I really enjoyed ST: The Animated Series when it aired on Going Live! here in the UK in 1991/1992. I saw Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country when I was 14 and again really enjoyed it - but, what really got me hooked on Star Trek was one of the novels, "The I.D.I.C. Epidemic" by Jean Lorrah. My copy originally belonged to my uncle's fourth wife, who was a huge Trek fan, especially TOS - when she died, my uncle and Grandmother were turning out some things and they came across this book. Wondering if I might like it, my uncle gave it to me and the rest, as they say, is history! To this day, as much as I love watching Star Trek on TV, my favourite Trek things are the novels! Take care...
  4. Chris here... What they've actually done is changed the episodes' running order from production order (i.e., the order in which the episodes were produced) to airdate order (i.e., the order in which the episodes originally aired back in the 1960s). I prefer it the other way, such as on the UK VHS releases, as you get a true feel for the evolution of the series' look - changes in uniforms, that type of thing. "Where No Man Has Gone Before" just looks out-of-place plonked in the middle of the first half of the series! I believe I read that "The Cage", the original Star Trek pilot with Jeffrey Hunter as Captain Christopher Pike, will be a special feature on the Star Trek: TOS season 3 boxed set. Hope this helps! Take care...
  5. Chris here... I honestly had no idea this existed, but it seems like you're right - here's an Amazon.Com review of that book shown above, complete with plot synopsis: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=glance&s=books Man, now I want a copy! EDIT: That's odd - either I'm going mad or the link I just posted won't post up the book review! Weird - anywhere, here it is: "The Turtles are at April's apartment and Donatello is playing with some gadgets (as you'd probably expect), when Raphael complains that there's no hot water in the shower. So Don is asked to go & fix the hot water heater, but he has to watch out for this guy named Kirby, who is renting the office in the basement. Don eventually meets Kirby, who is drawing alien-looking characters that come to life because of a little magic crystal that he tied to the pencil for decoration. He drew a portal & he & Don enter it & step into the world where all the drawn alien characters live. There, Kirby & Don fight the evil aliens, & save the good guys. When they get back to the portal, it's shrinking & only Don fits through. He returns to April's apartment where Raph is mad at him since there's still no hot water. Basically, it's a fantasy adventure with a plot that's hard to describe & doesn't really get anywhere in the end, but it's a cute Don story. A word of warning for parents with young children--it shows Raph in a towel, but his shell is still there & nothing's exposed; but kids will probably not stop talking & giggling about it." Hope that helps! Take care...
  6. Chris here... Hmmmm, that's an interesting question - the comic you remember reading is Donatello #1, the third of four "one-shots" spotlighting each of the Turtles. Here's the cover of the comic itself: Was the storybook you remember having a straight re-print of the Donatello comic story (which is to say, was it in comic strip format?)? I've never heard of a storybook retelling of Donatello #1, only reprints of the comic itself. Next question - was the story illustrated in b&w or colour? This could help track down what you actually saw, as the original TMNT comic books have been reprinted in trade paperback form in both the original b&w and in colour. Here's the cover of the collected TMNT book I own, which includes a reprinting of Donatello #1: Take care...
  7. Hi all, I've seen a lot of new Ninja Turtles story books on www.amazon.com , such as this one: ...or this one: As an avid collector of all things TMNT I'd love to get my hands on these, but can anybody tell me what they're like or direct me to a website that shows inside them? It goes without saying that they're aimed at kids, but I'd still love to know more about them! Please can somebody LMK? Many thanks! Take care, and thanks for listening!
  8. Hi all, Like I said in another thread, I'm just emerging from an unintentional hiatus of posting on these Boards! A question for any UK-based TMNT fans around these parts - what of the new TMNT line is currently available in the UK? From online UK toy shops such as www.toysrus.co.uk all I ever seem to see are Turtle variants and vehicles - for secondary character figures all I can find are what we had available at the end of last year, i.e. Splinter, Shredder, Foot Solider, April O'Neil, Hun and Casey Jones. As yet, I've yet to see figures like the Nanotech Monster, Foot Gunner, Foot Tech Ninja and Foot Elite Guard - however, I know there's new TMNT product coming through because we have the Shell Sub, Sewer Lid Launcher, and Pogo Copter all readily available. A friend of mine recently reported sighting the Silver Sentry figure, which would seem to skip over a couple of waves. Can somebody tell me what is and has been available, and where online in the UK I can order it from? Many thanks! Take care, and thanks for listening!
  9. um, your kidding me, next mutation is on dvd? Chris here... Just emerging after a long (and unintentional) break from posting here! Yep, Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation is actually available on DVD, but (at least to my knowledge) is currently only available in the UK. The first volume of NT:TNM is a two-disc set released by Maximum Entertainment, featuring the first eight episodes, and I guess that future volumes will follow the same route. As a note of trivia, the DVDs should also officially be called Hero Turtles: The Next Mutation, as the opening titles that appear on the DVDs are the UK "Hero Turtles" version. Take care...
  10. Chris here... I always fancied owning those deluxe figures - it's a shame that Mayweather's not been produced. Are regular Enterprise figures easy to find in the US? The only ones I've ever seen for sale here in the UK are the Away Team versions. Take care...
  11. Chris here... That was a horrible trick to play, my heart stopped - I really enjoy Enterprise (yes folks, there are Star Trek fans out there who enjoy this show! ) and would be very upset if it got cancelled. Even if the show gets picked up for a fourth season, I wonder whether there might be an argument for making it the last - surely that would be better than the show being cancelled mid-flow? Take care...
  12. Chris here... I think that's a very good point indeed. Absolutely, what Archer did was unethical and wrong, and I think that part of the point of the episode was to make the audience have a debate with themselves about what the right thing to do under the circumstances was. I think it was also a great way of showing the sort of pressure and responsibility Archer feels as captain of a vessel charged with saving humanity - his behaviour is becoming increasingly obsessional and I think that's all part of the plan - to show Archer (and, to a lesser extent, the Enterprise crew) as real humans who make mistakes from which Starfleet and ultimately the Federation can learn. As to what the other Starfleet Captains would have done - Sisko I think is a debateable one, but I think Picard certainly would have condemned Archer's actions. Bear in mind that Picard ultimately refused to destroy the Borg race, even after what they subjected him to! In fact I don't think Picard, Kirk or Janeway would have done what Archer did - I think somehow they would have done some fast talking and somehow persuaded the aliens to help them. If the aliens had still refused, I think they would have found some other way to acheive their goals without resorting to theft. Then again, though, none of the other Starfleet Captains were faced with the sort of responsibility that Archer's having to face without the prop of a Starfleet Command to radio in the case of a sticky situation, so who knows?! Take care...
  13. Chris here... Yep, those are really good reasons to like TMNT 3, too! Take care...
  14. Chris here... I like them both for different reasons, but if I absolutely had to choose I imagine it would be the old stuff. I adore the new toon and toys (the new sculpts for the TMNT I think are great, I can't stop posing Leo and Raph! ) but the old stuff I think is the most exciting overall - lots of exciting-looking characters and brilliant vehicles and playsets for the toys, and a great theme song for the cartoon! Take care...
  15. Chris here... If you're after a report on how popular the TMNT are in the UK, I don't have any to hand but they were consistently mentioned in the press as one of the most in-demand toys for Christmas 2003 and the most sought-after action figures. Back on Topic - I'll be 22 in April, and I've been a hardcore TMNT fan and collector for 14 years! Take care...
