  1. Most of the Joe sets are modified Battleship sets. It all looks pretty good and according to the price ranges listed awhile back the Joe stuff will be less expensive. I'm sure there will be a decoder for the blind packs. I'm going to buy a few Crimson Guards. I just hope this line lasts at least 2 waves. That'll allow them to get most of the major characters out and hopefully either a Joe Headquarters of Terrordrome. The only thing that worries me is that the Kreo brand doesn't seem very popular. I hope this line doesn't get killed in its peak.
  2. I don't know about you guys but I'm really stoked for Kre-o next month. I haven't heard a lot about it since the announcement so I hope it isn't delayed. I've been saving here and there so it isn't such a blow to our finances. Anyone else as excited as me?
  3. I picked one up at Target today for $10.68. I had a $10 gift card from a Christmas promotion so it was almost free. It was the only one there. My Target is remodeling so someone probably had it stashed and it was found or it was found in the back. I'm really happy with it. The improvements to the cockpit are really nice and the freedom to customize it makes applying the stickers fun.
  4. I feel the same way about the line picking up slightly in 90 then dropping off. 1982 will always be iconic for the introduction of 3 3/4 Joes. To me GI Joe's golden years were 83-86. 1987 was still a good year then 88-89 was off, and then picked up again slightly in 1990 before the slow Neon Death started in 1991. I appreciate every era of GI Joe in certain ways but the 83-87 period really stands out. The comics sort of ran in the same pattern. From 88-90 I was like "who are these guys they're constantly introducing?" The comic series dropped off about the same time as the toys.
  5. HILARIOUS!!! That was sweet. Almost as good as Pixel Dan's Grayskullman video. Did they stop uploading these to iTunes? I've been having the hardest time finding my podcasts since Apple added the podcasts app to the iPhone.
  6. In WV we received heavy snow. The power was out for about a day and a half where I live in St. Albans, a suburb of Charleston. Power to parts of the state will not be restored until Sunday they say. Compared to NYC and other coastal areas we got off easy.
  7. What does her being left handed have to do with her attractiveness?
  8. Now they have an extra hour and a half a day to show Ninja Warrior. Seriously though, this is sad news. I too only watch it for the SDCC coverage, but this wasn't always the case. I remember watching AOTS back in Olivia Munn's peak. I watched X-Play during the late PS2/XBox era and well into the generation of current consoles. However, after I became a dad I kind of stopped watching both. I just don't have the time for that stuff anymore. Rumors have swirled that this was inevitable. Regardless, I'll miss knowing that these shows are still on.
  9. There are two situations in which I like to listen to podcasts. The first is in the car. I generally hook my phone up to the car's audio system via an aux cable. I'm sick of the radio stations around here playing the same songs over and over again and when I get off work both AM sports talk stations are doing their local sports shows. I can only listen to them talk about the Mountaineers so much in a given week. So that's where the podcasts come in. Aftermath and Wrestling Reality are pro-wrestling related shows that are structured and have interviews. Plus the guys doing those podcasts are professionals in the industry. The Roast Gooble generally has interviews with Neitlich and they talk about whatever is going on in the He-Man universe. The knock on it is that it's recorded sometimes a month before it is released. Master's Cast is very entertaining and the hosts are so diverse. They release a new episode only occasionally. It Figures has turned into basically what you described JayC. A bunch of guys sitting around rambling on. They do a news review but honestly I expect the hosts of a podcast to be more knowledgable than these guys. Plus they're kind of immature. This is 2012 and they still occasionally make gay jokes. I find that distasteful. Regardless, I've been listening for a long time and I feel like I know the guys. So I'll 'tune in' from time to time.
  10. Oh yeah, that's true. Number 1s aren't really ever worth much. What makes comics valuable are events. I remember back during Marvel's Civil War there were a few issues of Amazing Spider-Man that I had that just kept going up in value. First it was the one where he revealed his real identity to the world. Then there was the first appearance of the Iron-Spidey costume. It's so hard to keep up with the value of comics these days. I generally just assume that what I have isn't worth more than the cover price. I don't collect for investment anyway. I read 12-14 comics a month and I'm certainly not going to throw them away.
  11. I've watch it. I don't like it as much as Toy Hunter but some of the items they feature are really cool. However, just like Toy Hunter, the show is way too staged. A dude shows up with a Batmobile randomly? Plus they use the same negotiating style as Pawn Stars. Regardless (or irregardless if you're a Boston Teen --- please tell me if someone else gets that reference) the show is entertaining an I DVR it.
  12. Ahhhh yeah. My wife's cousin lives in Pound, VA and we drive down through Williamson and Belfrey a few times a year. The mall down there (the one with the Magic Mart) is a throw back to the Kanawha Mall that used to be in Charleston. The smell, the look, the theater, and how old school Magic Mart is just takes me back. It's pretty obvious that the design used for that mall was also used for the old Kanawha Mall.
  13. I have nothing against Dan, please don't misunderstand me. I watch his reviews, follow him in Twitter, and admire him for the amount of time he puts into his hobbies. The guy has to be go-go-go all the time. He does a lot for us and I appreciate it. That being said, if you look back through this thread and watch some of the videos from right around June/July you'll see bitterness in Killen. They might be cool now, but it wasn't always that way. Even after Dan stepped down from his lead position at PCN he posted a video or two there and was listed as a contributor at the bottom of the staff page. Then he disappeared from the staff page and 3 or 4 other guys disappeared too. Something happened there. I've been following PCN for about 2 years now and every few months "drama" rears it's head. I'm not a member at PCN but I have corresponded with Killen via e-mail and he didn't hide his bitterness. I like to listen to podcasts in the car. I listen to Aftermath Radio with Arda Ocal and Jimmy Korderas, Wrestling Reality with Justin Labar, Roast Gooble with a bunch of guys from the .org (including Dan who is now in every episode), Masters Cast with John Kallis and the rest of the guys, and if none of these are available I'll listen to It Figures. Back when Dan was around I listened to It Figures all the time but now I'll listen to about 1 out of every 5. It's just not as good anymore.
  14. Not necessarily. New SOP for ALL comics is to re-number after 20 or 30-some issues. And that's a dang shame. Every new creative team has to have a #1 issue to lead off. When I was a kid the numbering on the issue was an important thing. Now it's just taken for granted, or after 4 volumes it returns to it's original numbering.
  15. See, the thing is, Dan left and created his own site and also joined the Roast Gooble Podcast. The hosts of that show have actually worked on MOTU properties and they also interview Neitlich on a regular basis. Did Dan leave for bigger and better things or was he just sick of Killen?
  16. We've both been around here for a long time and I'm pretty sure we've talked about being from WV before. You live in he eastern part of the state I believe, right?
  17. Never pass on Deadpool... That is the lesson I learned about ML... Yeah, I'm kicking myself more and more everyday. I won't pass on him again. I still can't believe I did that. I found the Mystique for a friend of mine and hooked him up with it this week. Maybe my good toy kharma will pay off and he'll find Thunderball or Deadpool for me.
  18. They're not relaunching Hama's Joe comic right? That one still shows a lot of the old magic that made the Marvel GI Joe series my favorite comic series of all time.
  19. Someone explain to me exactly what has happened to PCN. I occasionally check out their staff page. Obviously Pixel Dan is gone, but so are Suinne Hallock, Chris Vint, Ryan Porter, and Allen Price. I could be wrong but I don't think Rob Base is really contributing anymore. A year ago PCN seemed like it was expanding and picking up steam. They were at all of the conventions and a very visible prescence in the toy collecting community. What happened? My theory is that Killen pressed PCN into a vehicle for him to make money for his store. At the end if the day Killen runs the show and cares more about money than anything else. I think the other guys got sick of that. Dan is obviously a superstar in the collecting community and has moved on to bigger and better things. I still hear about the other guys but I'm unsure as to what they're working on. Someone spell it out for me.
  20. I found (didn't buy) the Target Exclusive Avengers 3 3/4 8-Pack today in Charleston, WV. It was $49.99. If you've been waiting for this then you shouldn't have to wait much longer. The set includes Cap, Thor, Hawkeye, Hulk, Iron Man, Black Widow, Nick Fury, and Loki. They look pretty good and the box is very nice.
  21. $7 is still a steal. You couldn't get him loose for that. Congrats dude!
  22. I stumbled across the Deadpool and Punisher a couple of weekends ago. That Deadpool looked fantastic but I wanted him in red. I got the Punisher and am really happy with the sculpt. He came with lots of guns which was only nice. My only issue with him was that I couldn't get his feet to stand flat. I don't know if its too stuff or I just randomly forgot how to pose action figures. Probably the former but I've been wrong before. I won't pass on that Deadpool again though. These are just too hard to find. I still haven't found Thunderball and I only have Piledriver because my friend found him for me.
  23. I recently bought a 3D Samsung 55' TV at Best Buy. Their Rewardzone program gives $5 back on every $250 spent. So I held on to my points and redeemed them for a $30 gift certificate and bought the 4 disc version (3D included). So I technically got it for free. If you've never seen a 3D TV let me tell you that it's significantly different than movie theatre 3D. IMO, theatre 3D is like looking through a dirty window and getting a headache. Active TV 3D is very vibrant and crisp. Avengers looked incredible in 3D!
