  1. I was quietly hoping that Three Zero's Kevin Eastman inspired sixth scale figures were going to be even better than these... ... but they are not what I am looking for at all. Which is a shame, because I think they will be much more affordable than Mondo's. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully both Mondo and Three Zero will be really successful, and one of them will decide that Jim Henson's 1990s movie turtles are worth doing. That's what would really work for me at this scale!
  2. Excited to see a bit more. Not sure of I can justify collecting all of these, but like the look of Leo so far. Did Mondo's mousers ever see the light of day, or will they be part of this line? They looked cool, and would make a great companion piece to this.
  3. That first turtle vinyl is awesome! I've signed up to Mondo's newsletter becaue I have to know when it goes up for pre-order. The mousers are interesting and I look forward to seeing what else they do with the Turtles. I was all geared up for everything NECA would release back in '08(?), but that proved to be short lived. If Mondo can do collector-focussed Mirage comic stuff I'm going to be very excited.
  4. http://toynewsi.com/index.php?itemid=22907 I've only just become somewhat aware of what happened between Playmates and NECA over their (totally awesome and my favourite ever) turtle figures from a few years ago... ... so how does this fit in exactly?
  5. I'd been really looking forward to these, but it's dawned on me; Playmates don't seem to get the adult market. I don't know if it's MOTUC, Masterpiece Transformers or NECA's efforts that have spoiled me, but as much as I really want 1990 movie figures, I can't get behind these.
  6. Wait... to they have articulted eyes? And I'm not talking about the sway out heads. In different images the eyes seem to be looking in different directions.
  7. I've never been a big Batman collector... picked up the odd figure here and there, but these actually have me excited. I remmber how much of an impact the Animated Series was back in the 90s, and these get me all nostalgic. Depending on what the finsihed product looks like there are a bunch of characters I'm keen on from the first few years of the series. Starting with Manbat! In fact if he wasn't announced so early, I might have passed on the line. Now I will be picking up Catwoman, at least, from wave one. Gonna try to hold out for BTAS Bats though.
  8. So awesome! I'm not at all bothered by the lack of articulation like some are... in fact I think I prefer it. Fewer compromises in the gorgeous design. I love it. I just hope it looks as good coming out of production. If it does... I'll be collecting a new line.
  9. Equally, Playmates make toys for kids. I've only just realised not to expect collector quality, NECA-style work from them. That said... these are supposed to be tehir "collector" line, so I am equally disappointed.
  10. Not digging the toys, but I am hoping that Sideshow or somebody do some nice high-end pieces to do justice to the design of the new movie turtles.
  11. I fear you might be right. they are just too similar to the previous release.
  12. Anybody else bugged by Raph's sais? In the movie the prongs on the side were always taped up (except for one shot in the beginning where he leaves a sai behind), which bugged me then... but seeing the figure without the taped up sais now seems wrong (for a movie figure). Additionally his likeness seems the least movie-like of the four. Maybe I'm just too used to my NECA movie figures which are nice and gritty. That's what I wanted from this release. These seem too clean. I'll have to wait and see them in person before I can commit to a purchase.
  13. Digging the sculpts revealed at Toy Fair, but hating the paint applications, or lack thereof. If you weren't familiar with the movied designs these would just look like ordinary, run of the mill turtle figures. They need light and shade and texture to give them a real "movie feel". If only I had any talent as a customiser... Fugayzie?
  14. I think that's a different company... Zica? The more I look at them, the less excited I am by these reveals. I was really hoping for something more akin to hasbro's Saga Legends and Mission Series figures from Star Wars. They evoke the era of classic Kenner in terms of points of articulation and the stance of the figures, but incorporate more modern sculpts, likeness and detailing. Funko's reveals are reminiscent of too early on in the Kenner era for my tastes. I still love my Kenner Return of the Jedi figures (and think that some of those still hold up today (the ewoks are a great example)), but only love the original 12 out of nostalgia. It's too hard for me to go back to that with new properties. I hope these figures find their audience though. That said I am likely to pick up the Aliens, Goonies and Firefly releases, just because I so love those properties... or maybe I'll be further disappointed. I guess we'll wait and see.
  15. So what are everyone's thoughts on the reveals over at Entertainment Earth? I'm not quite feeling it yet. Of course they haven't revealed the licenses I'm keen on yet. But the human characters from Terminator don't bode well for the colonial marines I'm hoping to see from Aliens. Nor am I really keen on that predator. A little too retro for what I was hoping. Look forward to seeing the Game of Thrones Legacy reveals though. Next week I guess.
  16. I'm more keen on a high end collectible interpretation of this design. But just one... Most likely Raph, from what I've seen so far.
  17. I'd be all over a movie Casey Jones too... if I thought they could do it well.
  18. I hated the "real feel skin"... I always felt like it was going to break down or degrade. But I just pulled out those figs, and it's all still good... despite my other turtle figures from the same era having gone all sticky. Either way... I really hope to see some reveals of these at Toy Fair.
  19. I don't hate it. I don't hate it at all. Of course, Revenge of the Fallen was on TV last night, and while it looks good, it is still a terrible film. I'll see this ninja turtles movie, but I'll keep my expectations low. That said, I would totally grab a high end collectible that successfully captures this new design. Only question is... which turtle?
  20. Fair point. Although, the criticism is being levelled at a 30+ year old sculpt. I really hope the sculpts for the new properties are a bit more modern. Because you are right, dog-faced Leia back in '95 was enough.
  21. I've just learnt that Funko are rumoured to be producing Firefly and Game of Thrones 6" figures, similar in style to hasbro's Star Wars The Black Series. Here's hoping that means that the GoT licence will extend to the ReAction figures. I would totally get behind that too. (I just don't have enough display room to collect 6" figures.)
  22. I'm under the impression that it's really tough to get likeness rights for Sigourney Weaver. Consequently I expect any Ripley figures to look nothing like her. I'm curious to see what NECA are going to do. I'd just as soon have no Ripley (if Weaver is going to be difficult with likeness rights)to be honest. Load me up with marines and aliens.
  23. I was on the fence with the Alien wave, in no small part because I didn't pre-order and the completist in me didn't want to miss out on the sixth figure. Knowing it's just a chase variant though, I'm still tempted to pick up the other 5. Even though Alien is a great film, I'm far more looing forward to the waves announced last year. I really hope we have some reveals at Toy Fair in February. I'm also hoping they go with slightly more modern, detailed sculpts (kind of like the Star Wars Saga Legends figures so far) for subsequent waves. The Alien line is cool since they were produced from old prototypes, but I'd like a little something more for my Aliens, Goonies, Bill and Ted's and Firefly figures. (Can't believe all those licences are in the same sentence! )
  24. I agree with you on maintaining the style, although I hope they get a little closer to the actor's likenesses than the already sculpted Aliens figures. More like 1983 Kenner Star Wars figures than 1978 Star Wars figures. Of course, if they could approximate what hasbro are doing with Saga Legends I'd be cool with that too, since I'm not picking up the Alien series an improvement on sculpt wouldn't contrast with them so much for me. I was really tempted by the Alien series, but knowing now that I've missed out on the sixth figure, I can't bring myself to get an incomplete set. I'm not a completist per se, but seeing as Aliens is my preferred film in the franchise, and it will be the first run of the ReAction figures, I feel like I will have missed out. I'm happy just to get characters from my favourite films. I hope that in addition to your list we also get Drake and Apone. I'd like all the marines, but I feel like that's unlikely. I'm curious to see how many characters they do from each franchise. Will it be six accross the board? Be a bit tough with something like Bill & Ted (I didn't mention that property) when there were only two main characters, although... Rufus and all the historical characters would be awesome. They have also announced Back to the Future. It's a seriously awesome concept! ... just when I was looking at bowing out of collecting action figures. gonna have to get rid of a bunch of old stuff to make way room for them. Good thing they are only 3.75".
