  1. Marvel Universe is currently the only line I actively collect and I haven't seen the last two waves at all besides that ugly Jim Lee Wolverine from 1, Vision because I bought him off of ebay and Etremis Iron Man. meanwhile the stores around here are all loaded with MU Iron Man's that aren't moving because he has his own line jam packed right next to the MU's. wack!

  2. I'm dumbfounded by the amount of people who have referred to Thor as a minor character. he's one of the original Avengers and still among the all-time big three. Thor is awesome and I'm pissed that they got a black guy to play him. you can call me racist, but you'd be wrong. I just really like Thor and I'm not looking forward to drastic, unnessecary and flat out nonsensical changes. give me one good reason why he should be black. Idris is a good actor, sure, but is he SO good that he ruined the role for someone who fit the part better physically? was there just not a single actor available who might fit the description of one of Marvel's oldest and greatest? no, he was cast (if he in fact is really cast and this isn't a rumor that has gotten way out of hand) because he's black and that's baloney. we're comic book fans, we're drawn to visuals, or else we'd just read novels. we need a new Thor.

Since you're such a huge Thor fan you probably already knew that Chris Hemsworth was cast as Thor in May and you're just jerkin' our chain with this stupid comment. Maybe you can take the $10 you were gonna spend on the Thor movie and buy yourself a "Reading for Dummies" book.

I did not know Chris Hemsworth was cast as Thor. I did skim the thread and obviously misinterpreted what was said. I then spoke out of turn and gave my opinion on a topic that I had not accurately read through. I'm obviously the first one to ever do that here, so I apologize. I also want to thank you both for being so welcoming and offering your sharp wit.

    Yes, my wit IS sharp....

    sharp as a whip...or a bowling ball.

  5. man, considering someone called this the stupidest "who'd win in a fight ever," it's really carried on. I'm gonna respond to a few different things I've read in thethread.

not trusting the accuracy of tales regarding katanas that cut through human bodies (or even phone books is like not trusting tales of an alien robot that transforms into a big rig fighting an 80 year old super soldier. that's just crazy! ;)

PEAK human strength is a real life term for having reached the max performance that a human can attain. if 800lbs was the absolute most a human could lift, only someone with peak strength can do it.

  6. yes, I realize that Cap's shield is made of adamantium!

However, this is a serious physics flaw that also falls on Wolverine all the time. Wolverine wouldn't ever be able to cut through most of the metal stuff that he does. He just isn't capable of creating enough force to do so.

it doesn't matter that adamantium is a harder metal than steel.

I give you this, take a steel knife and drive it through a phone book. YOU CAN'T! It doesn't matter than a knife is 1000X harder than a paper phone book, you can't do it.

So both Cap and Wolverine shouldn't be able to damage other metals, unless they were very thin

this is a very interesting point that I've never thought of. however (and I'm not saying you're wrong, just an added thought) one thing that Cap has that Wolverine does not, is velocity. his shield was physically designed for this purpose, it's going to pick up speed on the way to the target, therefore picking up power. Randy Johnson couldn't throw a 20 mph punch, but he can get the ball over the mound at around 100, because that's what the ball was designed for.

as for the steak knife through a phone book; no you couldn't, for 3 reasons. 1. it's serated which will slow down your thrust with each knotch. 2. a phonebook is not ONE object, so much as a collection of hundreds of thin objects, again slowing your thrust (slightly of course, but enough to make a difference) try stabbing a standard kitchen knife through a block of the pulp that phonebook paper is cut from and I'll bet you'll see a much different result. 3. unlike Cap's shield, a steak knife was never designed with the intention of stabbing phone books ;)

I said Steel knife, not Steak Knife @lol@ I mean ANY kind of blade... you can't do it.

or think of this, how much harder a shovel is than dirt... but how far can you drive a shovel down in one push? Not very far.

What would happen if Wolverine (who does not have super strength) tried to stab or slice through a Sentinel? Most likely he would get a couple inches deep, and his claws would wedged in the metal. He would not be able to pull them out without a lot of jostling.

Somehow, Marvel has given Wolverine the ability to have magical claws. They don't act like metal at all, more like a light saber. They are constantly cutting in all directions, anything they touch, like a laser. When Wolverine sticks his claws into something, they magically displace whatever he is cutting.

With Cap's shield/baseball theory, the object being thrown doesn't pick up speed the further it goes. It LOSES speed the further it goes. Randy Johnson could definitely throw a 20mph punch. His arm has to go very fast in order to get the ball up to speed.

hahaha, you totally did say steel knife, my mistake.

I'm not arguing your Wolverine theory, you've sold me on that one

Cap's shield WILL lose speed as it loses velocity, just as Randy Johnson's ball will act in the same manner. however, think about this; what would do more damage, a major league pitcher smashing you in the face with a baseball in his hand at his top speed, or standing on home plate while he slings a 95 mph fast ball from the mound?

  7. yes, I realize that Cap's shield is made of adamantium!

  8. uh.. what is cap going to do to hurt Optimus?

Can he throw his shield hard enough to go through metal?

his shield is an adamantium/vibranium alloy. I admit my Transformers knowldge pales next to Marvel, but I think Optimus is just standard steel like any other big rig. again, I could be wrong.

  9. my vote goes for Cap. they're basically the same character, Optimus is just bigger....but not bigger than Cap has faced before. he's got speed and agility on his side. I'm def open to other opinions though.

  10. is he available in anything besides that Pyramid of Darkness boxed set? I've found a loose one on ebay, but I always cosider that a last resort. anybody have a spare they'd like to sell/trade?

  11. i swear if it went to dvd I'D BUY A COPY AND BURN IT

    your thoughts?

I think if you bought a copy you'd be sending the exact opposite message that you were intending.

I disliked Halle so much as Storm that I automatically dislike her in any other role since.

  12. The ones I saw were at least in good condition. They looked like they just came out of the case, and I didn't notice any major dings or creases (though I didn't look really closely).

Ten dollars is just too much for these. They're small with few accessories, and some had bad paint jobs. 25th Joes started at $5 or so, and those had great paint and plenty of accessories. And they're still not at $10. I've never paid that much for any of the 25th Joes I've bought.

ten bucks IS way too much....I still paid it though, because I'm an idiot.

  13. can you post the UPC code from your receipt please?

unfortunately, I threw the receipt away, but later last night at a K-Mart, I found Punisher, Black Panther, Daredevil, Silver Surfer, X-Force Wolverine and Iron Man, I still have that receipt. I hope these are the "UPC" codes. also, I can't remember which codes go to which figs.

    hope that helps.

  14. today I was looking for the Wolverine movie figs nd there was just a lone Marvel Universe Spider Man there instead. I asked a guy to look it up, he said there were two and both were on the floor. either one was stolen, or someone hid it really well.

also, does anyone know how you actually become a SHIELD agent on the furyfiles site?

  15. Well, Hit 'N Run is currently helping Low-Light silently take out forces of Night Vipers.

Repeater didn't understand that discretion is the better part of valor, and was one of the few people ever shot in the head by a Cobra Trooper.

Hardball has been riding the bench since '88.

Muskrat is kicking Dreadnok ass in the swamps.

Oh, wait...you're talking about the comics, or cartoon, not my collection. ;)

this literally made me laugh out loud!

dude, the '87-'88 Joes were my absolute favorites! I'm so stoked on getting 25th Tunnel Rat, Outback and Shockwave! when I heard they were being made, I actually started to believe I might get Muskrat, Hardball and Repeater some day. excellent thread!
