  1. Jeez, can't anyone just be happy we're getting the figures we've all been clamoring for for such a long time? So what if they aren't exactly like the ones you had when you were a kid? You get the figure, get some Testors and a brush, and fix the damn thing! On a more personal note...HIT & RUN baby! Thank you Hasbro! You finally came through. Outback, Zap, and Chuckles also look great.
  2. Since we're about to receive a VvV 5-pack in the 25th style, I figured I'd ask, who were your favorites from the Spy Troops and Valor vs Venom lines? My own were: Spy Troops: -Barrel Roll -Crosshair -Mission Disk Duke -Mission Disk Snake Eyes -Heavy Water -Black Out Valor vs Venom: -Ghost Bear Yeah, I know its a one sided list, but Ghost Bear is really the only one from the VvV line that I felt like I had to have, whereas the Spy Troops line held much more promise and had better sculpts (at least in my opinion). So lay it out, who were your favorites, or if you'd rather, who were the worst?
  3. Check this out... http://cgi.ebay.com/GI-Joe-15th-TRU-Army-R...A1%7C240%3A1318 This is just insane!
  4. My first vehicle was the Battle Wagon, first Cobra was probably the 91 Snow Serpent. I previously stated my first Joes were the 91 Snake Eyes and Downtown.
  5. Mine would have to be the Christmas of 1992. That was the year of the Joe. I got everything from the 92 wave, 91 Snake Eyes, the Battle Wagon, the Patriot, Mudbuster, Ice Snake, and a couple others. That was the year that I got obsessed and I've been going strong ever since.
  6. I didn't see anything from Wave 1 and 2 until the revisions started popping up. Then there was any female figure, the vehicles (just for a while, now they're every where), SE w/ Black Timber, Yellow Stalker, Clear Blue Wraith, and lastly, anything from Wave 12. I'm just hoping the Resolute comic packs won't be hard to find.
  7. For me it was Downtown followed by Snake Eyes V.4. I took them everywhere and always played with them. So much so that I had to re-buy Snake Eyes twice due to excessive play. Unfortunately my orginal exploded when he fell just right...
  8. For me it was always Duke V.3, Snake Eyes V.4, Mutt V.3, and Wet Suit V.3 for Joes along with the Crimson Guard Commander, Alley Viper V.2, Baroness V.2, and Firefly for Cobras. The vehicles I went with were the Battle Wagon and Mudbuster.
  9. this literally made me laugh out loud! dude, the '87-'88 Joes were my absolute favorites! I'm so stoked on getting 25th Tunnel Rat, Outback and Shockwave! when I heard they were being made, I actually started to believe I might get Muskrat, Hardball and Repeater some day. excellent thread! I know, right? That was hilarious, though I do remember something in the comics about Muskrat hunting Dreadnoks...maybe I'm making things up, but I could swear...in any event. 25th Tunnel Rat and Shockwave will rock! Unfortunately, Outback was cancelled along with the Flak Cannon, but there's a rumor of them popping up as a store exclusive or Outback being a single carded figure. There is also a rumor going around that Hit N' Run will be released either right before or right after the movie line. Apparantly, he's a fan favorite as well as a favorite of the guys at Hasbro. Hardball would rock as would Repeater and Muskrat. I'm hoping and praying.
  10. I was just wondering what happened to a few characters. In 1988 the Joes were joined by Muskrat, Hit N' Run, Repeater, Hardball, and others, but whatever happened to them? Hardball was killed in Volume 2 #41 by the Red Shadows, but I haven't seen the others since Volume 1 #100. Anyone know where they are or whether or not their still alive?
  11. I'm looking for parts and figures and am willing to trade or buy if the price is right. Here's what I'm looking for: Vehicle Parts: 3x Battle Wagon Missiles Battle Wagon secondary cannon (sits next to the cockpit) 1997 A-10 Thunderhawk landing gear with wheel (I'm pissed because mine broke off and I can't fix it!!!!!) Accessories: 2007 Single Pack Shipwreck shotgun 2008 Comic Pack Firefly vest If you have any of these parts and are willing to part with them, shoot me a pm with the price or what you want for them and I'll get back to you ASAP.
  12. I'd have to go with my favorite Cobra trooper being the Night Vipers, but since he's not a choice, I would go for my second favorite, the HEAT Viper. Seeing him in issue 121 alongside the Frag Viper and SAW Viper taking on the Battle Wagon was freaking awesome! For the IGs, I was never a big fan, but Undertow always caught my eye.
  13. They are the same figs and they come with the same accessories. They comic #86 the first (at least I think it is) appearance of Joe Colton. Hope that helps!
  14. Ouch! This is going to disappoint a lot of people. Tell me about it, I'm one of them!
  15. I'd really like to know how much you're asking for Hit N' Run. I'll shoot you an email. It'll be from tervaco1@yahoo.com.
  16. What hands does the Viper have? Unfortunately, he has the same hands as the single carded version. I mostly got it because I wanted an Iron Grenadier without having to deal with another Destro. Besides, you can never have too many Vipers, even if their hands do suck...
  17. Wave 7 comic packs appeared in Wal-Mart tonight here in Florida. I'm not really sure on the distribution schedule Hasbro follows, but I just thought I'd give you guys the heads up. Usually Florida's one of the last to get the latest waves. The Iron Grenadier & Viper pack is great and I'm loving it! Fred CC VS Gung-Ho is okay, nothing really different other than the different head for Fred...sorry for the ryhmes. Good luck with your searches!
  18. There's just so many to choose from! I gotta go with 21 and 26 - 27 for the whole origin of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, 41 - 50 for everything that's been said before, the second Cobra Civil War from DDP (I haven't had a chance to read the first one), Union of the Snake, and World War III. The Marvel issues are the definition of classic, but the DDP stuff...that is where we get to see the Joes as both an army and special forces unit, the way they were meant to be seen!
  19. hehe y is it bad tho Tom's right, it is good and bad, but fans will give different reasons for why...scratch that, there's a very good reason that all fans agree on. In 1994 Hama changed the title of the G.I. Joe comic to Snake Eyes & The Ninja Force effectively making it all about the ninjas and turning everyone else into side characters. The stories started to take on a Ninja Turtles feel (Cartoon, not comic, because there's a major difference, but that's for another thread). So Hama's got all this ninja stuff going on and the stories just get worse and worse while at the same time, Takara and Hasbro are producing Transformers Generation 2 while having Marvel run a series of the same name. At this point, Marvel crossed them over (which in and of itself, is not a bad idea), but it served to be one of the final nails in the coffin for the Marvel Joes. With the end of the Ninja Force, Hama tried to bring the series to an honorable close, which started in issue 150 when Snake Eyes infiltrates Cobra Island alone to kill Cobra Commander. Some good ideas with a lot of baggage and utter crap and we're left with... well, something that we once knew as G.I. Joe. Anyhow, off that tangent and back to your question, people are unsure of Hama because he likes to get technical and focus on specific characters time after time after time! Snake Eyes is great, he's my favorite Joe, but at the same time I want to know about Duke, Beachhead, and Firefly as well. Hama's technical knowledge comes from his service as a radio operator in the Army so he knows his weaponry and all that, but he tends to pull a Tom Clancy and get a little too technical. We see an uzi, he explains that its a Mac 10 with an extendable stock, 10 inch supressor, and holds 30 rounds. Um...sorry for the long explanation, but my meds wore off and I'm a little chatty right now. Hope that clears things up.
  20. I never really thought of that. I'm an avid collector and scalpers bug me just as much as the next guy. I was just curious as to where people had more luck with their searches. Thanks for the welcome! Sarasota's pretty good for finding stuff, but I don't really get a chance to go out much due to work and school.
  21. Its just a running joke that has some truth to it. Wal-Mart sucks up everything around it whenever one is built.
  22. Hey all, I'm new here, but I'm old hand with toy hunts and all that. I'm just wondering where everyone gets the best hits. For me its a few different places. Wal-Mart: Around here in Orlando and where I work in Ocoee, I can find almost any single carded figures. As long as they are from Waves 1 - 8. Beyond those, its a crap shoot. You might find the new single packs, but you're better off looking for anyone you missed. Target: The treasure trove! For some strange reason, Target gets in all the new stuff. For those of you in the Orlando area, the Target near Fashion Square Mall off Colonial Drive, they've rarely been disappointing. Toys'R'Us: Skip it. In Florida, TRU is only used as dumping site. They've only got vehicles and multipacks, but nothing new. Please share where you strike gold!
  23. I completely agree with you on that. Peg warmers have actually become some of my best friends...as strange as that sounds. Around here in Ocoee and Orlando I've managed to find many of the figures that are scarce like Firefly, Stalker, Iron Grenadiers Destro, Iron Grenadier and so on. This was just a week ago too, so I thought, well maybe Wal-Mart (an evil word and place, but I deal) had just found an old box. I asked one of their stockers and he told me they just had a surplus of those particular figures and no explanation for why. As for Jet Pack Duke...hell yeah! All I did was switch out his guns and belt for the ones that came with Duke VS CC and Duke VS Red Star, but even if I hadn't done that, he's the best Duke so far.
  24. Thanks for the warm welcome Tom. I should have joined up a long time ago. I'm very excited about the other 2 series, I guess I just have really high expectations for them. Then again, when DDP first announced they're version back in 2001 I was unsure of it too. You know what? Never mind, I'm gonna keep my feelings on each series to myself until I've had a chance to read the first issues of each one. Hama's been writing the insert books for the comic packs and most of them are good, so we just need to wait and see.
  25. DUDE! Thank you so much for the heads up on Kohls! I picked up Mutt & Junkyard, Snake Eyes & The Hard Master, and Scrap Iron VS Wild Bill and it totally made my day. I've been searching high and low for these guys for weeks now, so thanks again!
