Yes, all of us that army build are just like that I'm just amazed at the utter ignorance of people on here sometimes. There are most likely some people life that, yes . . . but have you ever been to a Joe Con? The majority of the people I met, many who are army builders, are regular guys, husbands, college grads, many were in fraternities (as was I), don't smell bad, own their own homes, hold solid jobs, and are otherwise decent individuals. Please don't comment on things you know nothing about. Thanks, 'preciate it.

    GREEDY M'er F'er

By the way GG Pike, I'm one of the most affable, easygoing guys around, I didn't raise my voice, get in his face or try to intimidate him in any way, shape, or form. He was an Asian guy around my age, 25 to 30, roughly the same size and build as me if not bigger. I'm just not used to seeing such public displays of greed and the way he spoke to me almost had a vindictive you got punked vibe to them. I'm just frustrated and shocked how a "collector would treat another that way. I guess I'm spoiled by my TNI brothers, who have been nothing but intelligent and helpful over the year. I always heard stories about those kind of greedy collectors, but have never had an encounter with one. From what you said, I thought that you were the one talking in an inappropriate manner. But if you weren't, and he was, then that is a different story. I still don't think it's something to get worked up over, but that's just me. I've seen the scalpers in the stores, and that's why I get what I can, when I can. If you haven't had the "pleasure" of dealing with them, you're lucky. Yes there are collectors I deal with, and we help each other out when we can. Exceptions to the rule in the store are a mom or dad with their son, or a fellow collector that I know. Parents without their kids are iffy, I just have to make a judgment call on that. I've known a lot of people to use the "I'm getting one for my son" excuse. Like I said before, I would probably have a negative reaction if someone said something to me in a store about what I was buying. Not saying he is in the right in whatever he said, but know that though you might be an affable guy, you're most likely not going to get a positive reaction from people when you question what they're doing. Not to say you're wrong in doing it, but that a lot of people including myself get a little weirded out by that. Also, I'm spending my money / time / gas on finding these things, and when I can get what I need and be done with it, I'm going to do it. I don't think any of us are mean, or are trying to be mean, it's just that we're jaded, we deal with scalpers a lot, and it's pretty much every man for themselves when not dealing with collectors you know or the occasional parent with their kid. It's nothing against you at all. Besides, how could I not like someone that's friends with Tazz?!

Yep, as ridiculous as asking someone why you need two cans of spaghetti sauce or two packages of hotdogs. Whose freaking business is it WHY you buy something, right?? Only with toys though......... <sigh> EXACTLY. I think the title of "GREEDY M'er F'er" tells a lot. When the M'er F'er term comes into play regarding toys, some priorities in life need to be checked.

Ok, lots of people are army builders. Your comment wasn't very tactful or constructive. Think before you type.

This is the same arguement that "whatever his name"-douche from another thread whining about people buying more than one of each. I would buy both if I saw them, without thinking twice. Depending on the person who asked me, as I left, I would consider it. If it was a parent, with a kid (my soft spot), definately. If it was a cute girl, for her phone number. If it was anyone else, tough luck. There will be more. My logic for this... I've been approached many times about my 7 Hiss 2bs... I won't part with them for just anyone. They're deep DEEP in my closet, and very difficult to get to. Not worth the trouble, at this point in my life, for selling them. I can keep them safely in the box until I move and they'll just go up in value if I decide to sell them. -Kevin Yea I have to agree. The 5 pack is an army builder and were I to see 2 or 3 or 4 I would buy them, no questions. If someone came up to me and said "Do you really need BOTH of them" I would promptly look at him VERY weird for confronting me over a toy in the middle of a store. That's just ridiculous. Don't jump to conclusions about what people do with the toys they buy. Yes, some of them are scalpers, and yes some might be collectors who might throw one up on ebay. So what? I've missed enough things in stores just like you did, seeing someone walking out with what I wanted. You know what though, I should have gotten their earlier. It's a popular item. I think you just need to chill out a little bit. I don't mean that in a mean way, just need to put things in perspective.
  6. I have to pretty much respectively disagree with everything you've said. I think that most of us that like them and, correct me if I'm wrong people, know they're not the same exact scale. It would make more sense that people collecting these were pretty much all collecting GI Joe in the first place, except for people new to the GI Joe line. I'm sure the line has drawn some older people in that have never collected GI Joe before, but that should be a good thing. I don't think you can make assumptions that a lot of people collecting these never collected GI Joes. Yes the retro appeal does have something to do with it, but if it's getting people into GI Joe and excited about the line, does it really matter? The articulation issues are being worked out, especially the ability to sit (which was addressed by Hasbro ad nauseum in terms of them not planning on making any after the 5 packs) The only other flaw would be their elbows, and if you remember a lot of the VvV, JvC and especially DTC had arm issues as well as trouble holding weapons (too small hands, short arms, ape arms etc). I for one have not "abandoned" the toy aspect of GI Joe, and neither have most other people collecting these. I'm sure some just put them up for display, but many of us do that anyway with RAH, VVV, AND DTC. Please don't make assumptions about people and their "toys" simply because you don't care for the direction or sculpt that the "new" Joes are heading in. I'll always love RAH, have been PLAYING with Joes since 84, and really nothing can come close to beating them. But I also appreciate what Hasbro is doing now. I never said that most people didn't like them. I realize that the 25th figures are very popular. As for the scale I know I've seen some people on these boards refer to them as "3 3/4"". But that wasn't my point. My point is that because they are a different scale it means you more or less have to start from scratch again. The Sgt. Savage figures looked pretty cool too but they couldn't work with the existing figures and that is the reason I'm not so hot for those either. I also don't think that I am making assumptions that a lot of people are those that normally didn't collect Joes. We've all seen a lot of new posters on these boards talking about how the 25th line has brought them to G.I. Joe. That is what I was basing my comment on. Your reply to me seems to assume a lot of things about what I was trying to say. I was just giving my 2 cents as to why I'm not so won over by them and why I think other people are giving them a free pass. Would people really be so happy with these things if they had the same construction they have now but were based on the looks and designs from JvC/VvV/DTC? I highly doubt that. It's the classic looks that is buying people over. Fair enough, and I apologize if I assumed incorrectly the point of what you were trying to say. I definitely agree on the point about the scale difference in terms of fitting the existing vehicles, etc. That is a point of concern for me as well. I actually would have liked them if they were the same designs from JvC, etc but made in the 25th style. It's not that I don't like the O-ring, it's just that I find I actually like the construction of the 25th. Again, I didn't mean to come across as slighting you, and sorry if I did. Come to next years convention. I'll buy you a round or two #party#
  7. Yea. . . but how cool is it that you can finally have CC punching the air yelling COOOOBRAAAAAAA!! I love it At least on CC ok you got me there lol or COBRA RETREAT LOL @smilepunch@ yup thats what happens when you dont have a woman for that long LMAO @firedevil@ Ha! You're right, COBRA RETREAT is definitely more like it. And WOW on the shipwreck, LMAO.
  8. Well, I asked Neal (guy in charge of GI Joe now) about this at the convention. I expressed that it kind of sucks to have the style changed every couple of years like it was with JvC T-crotch, JvC, VvV, and DTC. I told him many of us like and are excited about the 25th. Basically we want consistency in the line. Well, he replied that in all likelyhood the 25th "style" will continue into the the movie toys. He knows people are excited about the 25th and so far plans to keep that style going. That brought a big to my face! So there you go. I hope what he said is true.

  11. Wow, I actually don't even have to make a joke! @loll@
  12. No problem @lol@ Yea George, I'm with you..I'm tired of this ninja crap becoming the focus of G.I.Joe every freakin' time! Yea it has it's place..a very small place in a military based toy line and shouldn't over shadow so many other huge characters in the joe universe. It's funny to me how hasbro just think we all go ga-ga over ninjas all the time "Just throw them a bunch of ninjas and they'll just eat that #$@# up".. @hmmm@ Not to offend the handicape or anything...but i realy don't have any intrest in seeing a movie that stars a mute...damn that sounded mean! @loll@ oh well, hate me if you want... Seriously though, there are so many intresting characters that could bring so much to this movie it would be a shame for them not to use them. Like you, I am loving the idea of Zartan and the Noks playing an important role in the movie. @bounce@ Baby, you know I don't hate the Chazz! Yea, ninjas do not equal instant nerdgasm for us. I am with you on the "mute" comment as well . . . it's ok to admit you hate handicap people, Chazz. Be proud of who you are @smilepunch@ JK Seriously though, I want the movie focusing on the team. Maybe a 70 / 30 split on team / individual. Even though it's the early stages, it's so hard to withhold comments and criticisms of what we've heard. Hell, it's our job to call them out. Ya heard?!
  13. this says it all for me, and partly why i hate hasbro so much. every couple of years its a new scale a new style a type of joe to keep seperate from all the others. that only looks good with others in the same style anyone else feel this way? im done collecting ANY new joes. i just cant start a new seperate collection ever 2 or 3 years. im one burnt out collector right now! Make mine ARAH! TM Well, I really can sympathize with you on the new scale every year or so. That bothered me to no end as well. I made it a point at the con to ask Hasbro (specifically Neal ) about the future of the line in terms of sticking with the scale. I said, in the most respectful way I could, that "It gets really old with the changing of the figure make up and scale every few years. Since this new style seems to work pretty well, stick with it, if for nothing else than being consistent." They said that they would stick with this style for the foreseeable future, and would most likely continue it into the movie toys as well. I know that some people, like yourself, are not all on board this whole thing, but if they keep it consistent and stick with it for a long while, maybe that would bring a little more solidarity and flow to the GI Joe line. Oh, and I agree with Ccav. The magic is missing for you because Fro-Joe has not made his 25th appearance. It's just common sense!
  14. GOOD call. That makes me feel a lot better and gives me a target for my anger.
  15. I really look at the 25th as a totally separate line from the original RAH. I will always love the RAH figures and nothing can ever replace them. The 25th are, in my eyes, a beautiful and well executed modern take on GI Joe. They fit in pretty well with some of the VvV, though I have gotten to the point where I don't really care for the VvV with their short arms, proportion problems, etc. Some great sculpting work and attention to the details of the original RAH figures have made these absolutely amazing for me. I'm actually just as excited about the direction of GI Joe now as I was in the early 80's. That's just me though. I look at these as an entirely different line, which helps a little in dealing with the scale and style difference between the 25th and RAH. I can still get my RAH fix through releases from GIJCC and the con sets, so I'm ok with that.
  16. Man, thanks a lot for this "wonderful" news on the movie, Chazz @grumpy@ If there is one thing I didn't want this movie to be about, it's Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. I have never really liked the huge ninja fest that GI Joe eventually became. It's fine if that's a part of the verse, but not if it's one of the main focuses. I was really ok with everything after Hasbro showed us the "message from Summers" during the convention. I like the Mummy movies, and I thought that maybe he just might be able to pull the Joe movie off. Focus on Destro is fine, Zartan and the Dreadnoks are great, and Cobra Commander being behind the scenes pulling the strings is just great and leaves something for the second movie to focus on. But ninjas? Please please please leave the ninja SE vs SS to a minimum. If they're going to do it, just make the movie a GI Joe spinoff. Don't make the GI Joe movie all about SE & SS. I don't know if anyone watches it, but maybe they should take a cue from The Unit? The dynamics and missions on that show are great, the brotherhood amongst the soldiers strong, and the behind the scenes general jockeying (ie the Jugglers in the Joe Universe) is perfectly suited to Joe. I'm still holding out a little bit of hope that somehow the turd yet to be will end up a polished turd at least in the end.

Was it really me, or was it the 5 orders of chicken nuggets from Wendy's that kept you from it? Hmm?
  19. SO to explain this to all who weren't there. On Friday night we all went to Hooters. Cmdrinchief's sister had come to Atlanta to visit him and went with us as well. When we all were seated at Hooters, we noticed that JC was sitting at the table with Cmdrinchief, his sister, and Chazz. So, Kevin went over there (being single) to see if he could sit at that table. Since JC is otherwise taken, Kevin assumed there wouldn't be an issue with him taking his seat. Well short story shorter, JC CB'd Kevin and wouldn't let him sit beside cmdrinchief's sister . . . or sistainchief as we now call her. Hilarity ensued. Hence, the CB shield now wielded by JC.
  20. Developed in the depths of a hotel room at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, during a discussion of JC's "tactics" the previous night at Hooters. @smilepunch@ This of course, all revolves around sista'nchief Kevin was the first recipient of JC's "CB Shield" . . . who will be next?! I know only Chazz, Gary, Kevin, and Ryan get this now. . . but soon, we could all be victims!
  21. Found wave three at three Targets I went to yesterday morning. Came away with 2x Firefly, 2x Zartan, 2x Red Ninja, Shipwreck, and Stalker Still need to find wave 2 though. Hopefully Hasbro's promise of more product getting to retail will happen soon!
  22. Dane Cook's not funny? Guess I'm out of loop!

    25th Vehicles...

This is exactly the idea I brought up at the con to some people. I would actually say to go with their Cougar model as it's purpose is a troop carrier. Cougar They also make the Cheetah which is replacing the hummer. The best thing about this idea is that Hasbro already has dealings with Force Protection, Inc. through the Transformers license and extending or broadening the contract to include GI Joe should be pretty easy.
  24. Well, I went in knowing I needed to fill some big gaps in my collection. I planned ahead for a while as far as what I wanted to pick up there as opposed to ebay. I didn't know it was going to be as much as it was, but at least I budgeted enough for it.
  25. Thanks Kevin . . . no I did not get mugged, or get any offers to buy weed, or any other kind of mishaps on the way to my rental car.
