I got the PPD just to "have it." It serves no purpose in my collection in terms of fitting in or having a place with all of the other GI Joes. (Sorry, no pimp street scene) This SDCC Cobra Commander, however, fits in well with the collection and has an actual applicable outfit (the suit) as you wouldn't expect CC to always be wearing his "costume." More of a realistic look (albeit he's still wearing the hood) for the Commander. Call it a lame figure if you want, I think this is a lot more imaginative and creative than PDD.

Yea, teal would suck . . . if that were the color scheme.

I already stopped collecting the 25th line, I mean I own 95% of the originals anyway and most of the 25th ARE NOT AN IMPROVEMENT. The only thing good about the 25th is the specialized figures and versions coming out, the versions for the mass device was a great idea, other than that I hope the 25th version goes away and makes room for the movie versions, As long as the movie versions look good, so far we have only seen Snake Eyes.
Ok ok . . . Let's try this one more time. I'm going to do it in all caps too.
THE "25th STYLE" OF FIGURE IS THE STANDARD STYLE / CONSTRUCTION OF FIGURE HASBRO WILL BE USING FROM NOW ON. THIS INCLUDES WHAT STYLE THEY WILL USE FOR THE MOVIE FIGURES. ACCORDING TO HASBRO THERE WILL BE NO CHANGES IN THE FIGURE STYLE FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE.
Got it? It's really simple. This is what we have for GIJoe 3 3/4, for better or for worse. Hasbro recognizes that fans were frustrated with the different styles of figures (JvC, VvV, DTC, etc) so they are going to keep the "25th style" of figure as the standard.
Sorry if I'm being an ass, but people are apparently not reading what myself, Admiral Hunter, Kamen Dreda, and gcbr have been telling you.
Like gscbr said,
so if that is everyones problem, there is no problem.I think you are the one missing the point. Take Marvel Legends. Based on your argument I should be more then happy to buy X-Men movie figures simply because they are made in the same style and scale as the regular comic version X-Men Marvel Legend figures. That's not the case because I prefer the look of the characters in their true to form comic outfits and not the boring all black leather movie outfits. Thats not to say I don't enjoy the movies but when it comes to the toys I will take their comic outfits any day of the week.
The same goes for GIJoe. I like their orginal 80's look which is what the 25th Anniversary line brings us as opposed to some generic costume we are likely to see emerge from the movies. So even though I think you're overstating how confirmed that the movie stuff will be done in the same scale and consturction style as what we have now, I don't think that is the main concern many of us have at the moment.
There was no argument in my post. I was stating a fact that Hasbro's brand team told us at the convention that they were keeping the 25th build of the figures. That's it. Style of figure isn't changing. Anyway, most of the postings in this thread have been us trying to figure out exactly what your problem was (refer to gscbr's posts)
But while we're talking about it, yes you should be very happy to buy them.
When someone mentions 25th anniversary, they're talking figure style. For example, RAH is a figure style, JvC is a figure style. Characters will change costumes regardless. Look how many times people changed costumes in the comics that your marvel legends depict . . . how many different wolverines have there been? In that regard, a lot of GI Joe figures have had more than one costume in the comics. Plus your assuming that we're getting generic costumes from the movie. I don't know, Snake Eyes looks pretty true to his comic roots to me.
Anyway, what Alyosha is saying is true. We're getting the "25th - style classic costumes figures" back in 2010. So you should be able to rest easy.

Like Admiral Hunter said, they told us at the convention last year that they would keep the 25th style of figures for the foreseeable future, including the movie line. Again, they said they are keeping the 25th style for the movie toys.

I bet you one ViperCON set that that is what the set is!!!
-Kevin
lmao. Yea, good bet there. I'll bet you a ViperCon set that this convention set will come in a box, with a picture on the front of what's inside!
I don't know, maybe I'm the only one who's not to crazy about the Headhunters. I've never been a big fan, always looked like they were wearing those annoying English driver's caps and had gold earrings.
-
My suggestion...
Gristle, 2 Head Hunters, 6 Head Hunter Storm Troopers, and 6 BATS!
Since it's the drug-dealing Cobras, most likely we should get some SWAT-Joes! (Police style) Law, and Shockwave at least.
-Kevin
You must be out of your mind, that would never happen. Sooooo ridiculous. You're a sick sick man. @smilepunch@

I get my news from there, yes. But I'll stick with JBL and TNI in terms of the people that inhabit the sites. Most of the people over at Hisstank (in a perfect description by cmnderinchief) act like they're in Junior High. I know there are adults that post there, but most act like they're 12.

Whew, I was just going to post this! There are two pics out now of Snake Eyes. It helps if the image is lightened up some, as I've done here. This is AMAZING. I can't wait to see him in action.
Hmmm... I don't know. Looks to super heroish to me. The spandex just doesn't look right. I like the mask portion but otherwise he looks more like Spider-Man then Snake-Eyes to me.
Over at hisstank, they (meaning someone who has seen these pics and more) were saying that it was more of a batman-esque body suit than spandex. I don't know. I really like it, but then again I'm easy to please!

I am not a fan of the HEAT viper. Both the colors and helmet are a real turn off for me. The Python Patrol one I can stand, but the helmet still bothers me. For me the Fast Blast Viper took the place of the HEAT Vipers. Gone is the awkward one sided helmet and bright colors. Instead you have a nice black undertow balaclava on a body of gray and black, perfect for urban situations.

Online is definitely cheaper. If I ever find any Joes in the stores, like cobra troops or figures I need 2 of, I'll pick them up. But, seeing as how it's so costly to hit the stores day in and day out and they rarely have anything, that doesn't happen often. I can either go through a tank of gas at $57 a week looking for them, or I can spring the 7 or 8 bucks for shipping. Not a difficult choice to make.

Who cares, crap is crap no matter how you try and dress it up.
Wow, that's a wonderful attitude to take. But I guess if you're determined to keep thinking that the movie won't be any good and will not give it a chance, than it will be crap to you no matter what. But seeing as how we've seen NOTHING from the movie yet, you're jumping the gun pretty early there. If you had seen parts of the movie, then I would understand your opinion. Now, if it comes out, and it is crap, you can rub it in our faces all you want to. Just hang loose and see what happens. Might surprise you.

Eh, no skin off my back. Alot of people had problems with him towards the end of his site. Alot of people got screwed on deals including myself so I don`t trust the guy anymore anyways.
Yea, I got one of his auctions recently, not realizing his history. Ended up with a figure with two cracked elbows, neither of which were mentioned in the auction, or shown in the picture. Actually my first time being burned in an auction. Guess I've been lucky up until now!
-
Went out and picked them all up today and i mean all of them even the exclusives just didnt see the vehicles. But anyways the figs are def a great buy for everyone to check out. Detail is def worth buying into.
Awesome, glad you were able to find them all. I still haven't found them all here. I stopped by a GameStop tonight, and they had everything but their exclusive in. I grabbed a white Mark VI, and my friend got the white mark VI and the lone EVA. I haven't seen any of the armor variations though. It seems that all the wal-marts around here just got the mark VI colors.
-
My Game Stop preorder shipped. Should have it by Friday.
Mine too. I can't wait. Hope some CQB and EVA's show up around here soon too. Been to a few super wal-marts. all had about 5 or 6 trays of Halo figs . . . no cases with the above mentioned figures though.

Just wondering if these things are available in stores yet or still on preorder. Ive been waiting for these things for months now and i was planning on going to like ever store in my area to snag all them up quick and i know they werent supposed to be out in stores till march. Then i was just browsing and saw that people on ebay had them in hand and ready to ship. So i checked gamestop and there offering overnight on these things did i miss something? anyone know?
They have been found at many Wal-Marts since last weekend. Not all have gotten them, but most should have them out by this weekend. They will be on an endcap or mixed in with other McF figures. So keep a lookout!

Ya know G, I am kinda shocked ol' Ryan didn't comment on the con set thread and offer up a Serpentor set. @lol@
No kidding. Maybe he realized that he and Serpentor are like an old, miserable, married couple, and that he's just been going through the motions the past few years. Time to just . . . let it go.

Saw this over at Joe Customs. Had to post it. Wow! I guess this is a dedication to Skarappy-Doo
-
Pish posh Gary! TRU.com had them up for Pre-order, to ship on 3/20/08, in the middle of January.
I ordered my "minimal amount" then. So, I should have them the week after St. Patties day!
-Kevin
True....you don't have a wife and kid to worry about so you naturally would have picked up on this sooner.
You have no idea how much I worry about your wife...
-Kevin
Hahahahahaha. Ooooooooh. #$#@# got burned . . . ooooooohh
-
Don't forget Ikea! It's pretty close as well, my wife will be making a stop there during the con.
Anyone getting into DFW around 11:30 - 11:50 besides Kevin and I? I say Limo it. Arrive in style . . .to a GI Joe convention. How awesomely random is that?
-
Found these two gems over at yojoe too:
I love how the kid in this vid is explaining all the features on the Terrordrome. @lol@
I miss the 80's.
Oh, those stupid Joes that come by . . . and I think we all remember Mr Guns. @loll@

I have given up on these threads because the club hardly, if ever, makes what we wish for. They only make what they can find the molds for....and even that is not a guarantee as we found out from the "Mauler Fiasco." I will say that the Tanks for the Memories set was quite possibly their best offering....but I am a shill, so I like 'em all.
You're so wrong...
The best was obviously the MARS set! Iron Anvil = The coolest thing EVER! Night-Iron Grenadiers = The second coolest thing!
I've only got like 50 of each!
-Kevin
Bucket of v1 Eels is what I'm hoping for.
I liked Tanks for the Memories for the Joes, really didn't like the Night Stalkers. (non fitting helmets, oversized weapons, constantly bent over). The Joes, though, were top notch. I have to agree with Kevin on the best set. Loved the MARS set. Hopefully they'll pump out a set that's equally as impressive this year. I don't know what molds they have left that we haven't seen in a while yet . . I'm really hoping though, that due to the resurgence of the brand, Hasbro will put the extra effort into finding molds that are "lost" or put in the money to make some new molds for the older characters. Who knows. I can't wait to get word on the set!
Here's hoping for v1 Eels!!!!
(Pic of rare Ghetto Eels) @hmmm@
what would be cool for what you want would be.... 6 V1 Eels , along with an Eel commander , a Copperhead , and a Secto Viper....... for the Joes..... Wet-Suit , Torpedo, Deepsix, Depth Charge, Tracker , and Shipwreck.... in addition 2 Cobra Sea Rays and a couple SHARCs
That would be cool.
I can only dream. Good thoughts on that set.
I have pieced together sets in my mind revolving around Eels, but I never thought to use the Secto Viper. The Joes you mentioned are the exact ones I was thinking of. Having them updated would be awesome, especially Tracker since he seems to be a good choice for a makeover.
Who Is Going To This Years GI Joe Convention In Dallas, TX
in G.I. Joe

Yea, that's kind of the general consensus at this point. On one hand, it would be nice as we would get a chance to get a tour of Hasbro. Downside is the location. I can think of a lot better places to have a convention that would be more entertaining.
