  1. This new project was one of the results of a massive writers meeting where, over the course of two weeks, different creative talent pitched Transformers ideas to Steven Spielberg, Michael Bay, Paramount, Hasbro, and other head honchos. I don't entirely know what this statement means, but I would personally hope that any upcoming animated film(s) would wipe the slate clean and not involve the Bay/Spielberg team. They've already got their live action franchise to play with. Time for some new ideas, imo.
  2. Cool, thanks. I'd definitely prefer to find them towards the lower end of the pricing spectrum since they're blind boxed and I probably only want a couple.
  3. I might be tempted by some of the anime ones that are coming out if I see them around. How much do they usually go for?
  4. I recently purchased the Mass Effect trilogy for like $5 during a nice PSN sale (PS3). I don't really know a whole lot about the franchise, but the games seem to be well regarded so I figured I couldn't go wrong for that price.
  5. Starscream is only supposed to be $60, so with an employee discount that will be a pretty good deal. No coronation kit is a disappointment though. Hasbro has released this mold 3 times already, so at this point Starscream is feeling a bit plain jane to me. There's nothing special to differentiate it.
  6. I'm cool with 3rd party but I generally like to support the official product when Takara/Hasbro get it right. Admittedly I'm also on the fence right now about Ironhide and I may end up passing on this one. But Bumble, Tracks and Star Saber look great to me. Takara has been churning out more hits than misses.
  7. Was Transformers stalled? The development of the movie occurred just as the Unicron Trilogy was ongoing, which was pretty popular with kids and a successful series of toylines for Hasbro. I don't think the birth of the movie franchise was due to the TF property being stagnant, or anything like that. Hasbro just wanted a cash cow.
  8. Yeah, although we complain about the prices, we should probably just be glad that TRU still exists.
  9. Lego seems to still be popular in toy aisles. But overall, the 'toy department' is a shell of what it used to be, unfortunately. Sign of the times.
  10. That's a pretty nice TF haul. Looks like Rodimus even has rubber tires?
  11. I just checked out the Voodoo bots. They look good, but I think both companies' offerings have pros and cons. For one thing, the alt modes on the Voodoo figures are practically scraping the ground with robot kibble. TakaraTomy has shown that they like to start with a flawless alt mode and work their way to the bot mode from there, and this might be one reason why Voodoo's bot mode looks a little more seamless. Having the windows on the feet is a departure from animation accuracy though, and I also prefer TT's head sculpt at this point. I agree the crotch area on the Takara piece is a bit glaring. I can live with the hip kibble. I really want to see some decent pics of MP Ironhide at this point. Something that's not a picture of a picture on a projection screen.
  12. Takara may be molding their own Blast Off. If they do, Hasbro might release it down the line.
  13. More pics here: http://news.tfw2005.com/2015/06/20/tokyo-toy-show-transformers-panel-roundup-masterpiece-ironhide-unitw-warriors-devastator-more-293880 (sorry, would've done TFormers but the pics weren't quite as good there)
  14. A big part of Christmas is nostalgia and toys, so this kinda ticks all the boxes.
  15. I believe those features are pretty much confirmed.
  16. Wow, nice. I had no idea these were Target exclusives.
  17. Same here for the single packed figures. I'm talking like 6-9 months since I've seen anything new on the pegs. They seem to stock the 'deluxe' releases (ie. Jabba) a little more frequently. I've noticed some walmarts clearly just don't give a damn.
  18. Just curious, is there a reason why the new Stormtrooper armor looks more like an evolution of prequel Clone armor? The new movie takes place after the events of Return of the Jedi, right? This armor looks too smooth and symmetrical to be a Stormtrooper. I would have thought the post-Original Trilogy troopers would look even more 'brutalist' in their aesthetics (since that's how the armor was evolving in relation to Star Wars chronology). I haven't really been paying attention to Ep. 7 news, so maybe there's a good reason for their appearance.
  19. Nice find! I researched it a bit and came up empty.
  20. Glad to see the forum is still getting attention. Any chance we'll be getting more themes? Something dark, like the old ADC skin would be nice.
  21. I just can't get into facebook. It's like a whole site filled with youtube comments.
