Been working on something really difficult this week - the spiral staircase that Indy climbs to see the X on the floor. I cut sheets of granny grating into triangles and rectangles to make the steps. Then I glued the steps onto a wooden dowell, trying to keep them evenly spaced. The trouble with granny grating is it's crap at sticking to itself, so the staircase isn't very strong. I made the railings out of styrene rods and glued some string around to make the handrail. When I had all the steps done I spray-painted it black, which has given it a bit more strength.

Some temple architecture. I made one of the buttresses out of air-drying clay, made a mould of it from liquid latex and cast it in plaster. Also been working on the stage. The square panels are made from greyboard, except for the ones on the curved section, which are made from foam. Then I made the rock detail with paper machine and filler. Unfortunately, the spray can I was going to use to paint it has clogged up, so I have to buy another one. I've also added Kali's head-dress, but it also needs painting.

Skull necklaces - cast from the mould above.

A few details on the Kali statue. I made the severed head she's holding by casting the head of a Robin Hood Prince of Thieves Little John figure. Instead of moulding it in latex like usual I just pressed the face into a piece of plastercine and filled it with plaster. It worked fine and took half the time. Then I scuplted the hair in air-drying clay.

Thanks, man. More updates soon.

Thanks, man. I'll try that.

I also lined the frame with granny grating:

Updates on the Venice library. I've started making the gallery from which Jones sees the X on the floor. Started by buying some plastic railings from a doll's house shop. Then I cut off some of the unnecessary details: I made the base out of styrene: Then I glued on a banister I bought at the same shop.

Finally spray-painted the Kali statue. It needs another coat and I still have to add the headress, but it's starting to look like something now. The skull was taken from a plastic skeleton I got free with the Indiana Jones comic. I modded it with Milliput to get it to look more like Kali.

Skull factory: moulded in latex so I can churn them out.

A few updates on the temple. I made the altar out of balsa wood. The pegs are there to hold the Kali statue in place. Statue fixed to the altar. The legs are hollow, so I cut holes in the heels and inserted the pegs into the legs for extra strength. Temple starting to come together: Skull and snake:

Yeah, had a bad year so haven't had the chance to work on anything, but things are cool now. I've been adding detail to the columns and entablture. I bought some elephant-shaped beads at Hobbycraft and moulded them in liquid latex, then cast them in PVA glue. They glue into the niches on the entablature to make a bit of detail.

Back to working on the temple dio. In the movie, the statue of Kali is wearing a skirt made of severed human arms. I made the arms out of Fimo and threaded them onto a string before baking them. Skirt assembled:

Awesome work, man. The statue is amazing. I love the elephant head at the side. I've bought a plastic elephant to use in the same place.

Can I ask a stupid question? Whenever I customise figures I can never get the paint to stick to the joints. It always scrapes off when you move the arm or whatever. Is there anyway to stop this happening?
