  1. Is anyone here going to Phoenix Comicon? I will be doing a panel there about action figures. Come by so we can chat about Sonic and the good old days http://www.phoenixcomicon.com/programming/category/youth
  2. What up! Thought I forgot about you guys, well no. I was in New York for Toy Fair and stopped by the Jazwares booth. I saw the last Sonic item I worked on, the Anniversary statue. The one I saw looked great, I do not know if it was production or not! They showed me a concept of a box set with Charmy Bee, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I was in NYC because I had some of my customs at the Four Horsemen show Toypocalypse 2: Futuretro You can see them here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/levarekgallery/6924417877/in/set-72157629440265701 You can see more of my work here: http://joeamaro.blogspot.com/ -Joe
  3. Thank you everyone!!! You guys are the best! Don't worry I am positive Jazwares will do a great job with Sonic! Keep sending them your ideas and feedback, it helps a ton! There is already plans for more Sonic toys, here is a hint...for every new game Jazwares will make toys for it! I have already told everyone at Jazwares that Charmy Bee and Rouge must be made!!! I need to complete the agency!!! LOL -Joe
  4. Hi everyone, I am sorry it's been a long time! I wanted to let you know that after 7 years I am stepping down from Jazwares. I am off to a new adventure! But I wanted to thank you Sonic fans for all the support through the years! We have had a great run!!! It has been a huge honor for me to work on Sonic!!! The line will continue under someone else's direction, I'm sure it will be in good hands. This is not good bye, I'm always around needing out so keep in touch. Thank you once again, Joe Amaro www.joeamaro.net
  5. Hi! Is there a name for Sonic fans? Like for Masters of the Universe fans it's He-Fans or Star Trek fans it's Trekkies or Trekkers. Do we have one? Just got back from New York ToyFair, Jazwares was not showing but I was at the booth of one of our distributors Zoofies. http://www.zoofies.com/ I was helping them out talking about some of our new products, like Sonic!!! I spoke to Jay from ENI, they have some good photos: http://toynewsi.com/news.php?catid=288&itemid=16928 Pixel Dan stopped by to chat you can see the videos below. 6. The base is foam core with MagicSculpt over it. The bones are all MagicSculpt. A little hint on the background it's the inside of my Castle Grayskull...which I am finally working on. You can see more pictures on my blog: http://joeamaro.blogspot.com/ Whatcha think?
  7. Hey everyone!!! Wow, it's been a long time, sorry about that. I have been working hard for you fans!...Remember I am a fan too! First off the Sonic Free Rider figures should be hitting stores very soon. We took our time on these to improve the quality. In fact I just got back from China, I was there for two weeks fixing things. I can't say much (company policy) but I can say that we have made some HUGE changes that WILL result in extremely better quality product! Right now that is the #1 concern of the Sonic team! We are working on press releases right now for all the new stuff we have coming out! You guys are gonna be happy. Even though I don't post I do follow the thread and I read all the comments we get on our website. Please continue to send us comments on our site, Our CEO reads those so it helps our cause when we want a figure like Rouge! She is coming in 2011! I also read all the letter you send, talking to you...Anthony in Staten Island, NY! Back to work, but I wanted to take a break and check in with my fellow Sonic fans. Thanks again for all your support! -Joe
  8. After months of work Skeletor's Robot Knights are finally done! These are complete new sculpts that are fully articulated. The head turns, the shoulders are swivel joints and the elbows are ball joints. Plus they have removable shoulder pads and the hands can interchanged with various weapons like a laser gun, saw blade and a mace. I also sculpted a new stand for him as the current stands would make him too high. Check out my blog for more pictures: http://joeamaro.blogspot.com/
  9. If you guys are going to Comic Con make sure you drop by Entertainment Earth's booth #2343 Friday July 23 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm. Seth Green and Matt Senreich will be signing our "Robot Chicken Convention Nerd", he's our Toys-"R"-Us exclusive! I will be there as well, so maybe we can all chat about Sonic? -Joe
  10. Hey guys! So far we have announced most of the the new items we have coming up. Check the lastest SEGA blog that has some good info. Most of the stuff should be hitting stores around August/September, I think. We are working on some new Sonic stuff right now , but we just started. I am trying to get more news out through some of the news sites, like TNI and such. Side note, be sure to check the next issue of ToyFare, we have a good article in there. It's about the Robot Chicken toys.
  11. When I saw the "Chunk" figure from Toy Story 3 I thought with a little work it could look like a Masters of the Universe figure. It already looked like a Filmation design. So I glued the face in place, added Magic Sculpt on top and resculpted the face. Blended it with the body better and then I sprayed on some texture. Finally some cool rock painting and he was ready to battle! Whatcha think, it fits in right?
  12. Hey guys! Okay so let's talk A-Team figures! I know there are some concerns with paint, we are working on fixing this. This has been taken to the highest level possible! If you get a defective figures (and I include bad paint) please contact our customer service people and they will make sure it is replaced. If you need to, tell them Joe Amaro sent you. Ask the Sonic fans we make good on our word and stand by our products. Just a heads up on the van, the side door does slides but it is meant to be removed. This was done because of all the new toy safety laws. Believe me I fought hard on that one! But I'm not an engineer. So that out of the way, what do you think?
  13. Off topic...did you guys see the A-Team figures?
  14. Heys guys, I wanted to jump in here. Eventually Metal Sonic will be released on single card. But we pulled him from the Comic Book pack and put in Amy instead. The next time you will see Metal Sonic is with the Toys-R-Us exclusive 2 pack that includes Dr. Eggman. This Metal Sonic will have all silver joints (hips), brighter colors and will be the much improved plastic. The package is going to be super cool, it will be a diorama where Eggman is building Metal Sonic! I am trying to do some type of variant on Metal Sonic but SEGA is very strict on variants. I am answering all the SEGA blog questions now, but there are over 65+ questions! So I have to work a little, answers some questions...design a little, answer some questions...paint a little, answer some questions. LOL!
  15. Hey guys! Thanks for submitting questions on the SEGA blog! And now you can follow us on Facebook and Twitter! I'll try to leek info on there as well. Facebook link: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jazwares/117557138268379 Twitter link: www.twitter.com/jazwares Thank you so much for all your support! Joe
  16. There is no difference with the new and old Metal Sonic figures, just the density of the plastic. Please contact our customer service people if you got a defective Metal Sonic. Make sure you show a picture and a receipt if possible, we don't want scalpers taking advantage. Make sure you ask your questions on the SEGA blog, that way we can make sure you get an answer! Thanks, Joe
  17. Hey guys! Sorry I have been away, I have been crazy busy on the A-Team! Just to update Werehog has been fixed. The one showing up now for sure. Metal Sonic was pulled from the Comic Book pack for all future orders. The later shipped Metal Sonics are all good, there were some issues with the first ones. I ordered a bunch of loose ones from our factory as soon as we get them we will replace the defective figures, I am so sorry!!! Just contact our customer service people. Tell them Joe sent you if you don't get a response Metal Sonic is being replaced by Amy so you know. I'm going to try release product updates on a more regular bases. No SDCC exclusive for Sonic, sorry. I really pushed for one. Oh well, maybe we can all meet up at SDCC and talk Sonic? Later, Joe
  18. Oh, and I heard your concerns about 3in Werehog. I have addressed this with our factory. We are also going to retool the waist. You may have noticed that we fixed Tails and now his tail can rotate so that it does not break off. As we move forward we are learning more and more. This year Sonic will no longer be an exclusive to Toys R Us. However, we will still have some TRU exclusives. They have been a great partner! So you should be able to find them all over. Including internationally!!! I do read the thread all the time! -Joe
  19. Hey guys! Sorry I have been away a long time. We have been crazy busy on the new stuff and the shows. So I am working with Sega on starting some type of Q&A thing and possible pod casts. That way you can all submit questions and I can make sure I answer them. And that way we can all chat live! As I get details I will let you know. I should have more details by next week. -Joe
  20. What up gang?! Sorry I have not been around, we are crazy busy getting ready for the Fall ToyShow in Dallas this weekend! As soon as things settle down I'll come back and show you guys some pictures. I got pictures of 3in Amy and 3in Metal Sonic! I also saw pictures of pre-production 3in Shadow, Silver and Werehog! These new figures will hopefully include a stand. We might also do a podcast with Sega, we are still talking about it. So I will keep you posted. We are shipping as many 3in figures and 10in Metal Sonics as we can! In other news Astro Boy figures are out! More soon, Joe
  21. Thanks again for the support! We are always trying to improve our products. As you can see we changed the way we did the articulation from how we did it on Werehog. We made all the legs go forward on Black Knight and the 3in figures. Also we have improved the plastic since then. As the line continues they will get better and better. I will take all your comments and discuss it with our factories to ensure we address all your concerns. I am a fan too so I am as concerned as you guys. SEGA is an awesome partner! They have been a huge help. They even lent us their original game 3D files so we could get the sculpts as close as possible. We work very closely with Sega Japan to ensure we give you the best possible rendition. They very much care about their fans! We have a very bright future ahead of us! And I think we all agree that FINALLY Sonic is getting the attention he deserves!
  22. Thanks! I did sculpt the back of the castle. It's basic but cool, I'll take some pics and show you guys.
  23. WOW! Thank you for all your suggestions. First of all we are all fans here at Jazwares. We are always striving to produce good quality products without hurting your wallets too much. When was the last time you saw a $4.99 figure?...the 80's! We all care, I care a lot...I am fan just like you guys. I collect and customize figures like you guys! That's why I am here to talk to you the fans. That being said let me try to answer as many questions as I can: • Vehicles will be tied to future SEGA game releases. hint hint • 10in Metal Sonic should be hitting the stores soon • Silver, Werehog, and Shadow are all coming in the 3in line • Knuckles will be released by himself later. Not a clear version... • Clear Blue Sonic was my idea. I love clear figures!!! The idea behind him is that he is like a "Speed Sonic" going super fast. • 2010 Sonic will ship international everywhere! • No playsets right now, they are expensive to make. And in today's market they do not sell well. • Currently we do not have rights to make Comic Book characters. • Stands, GREAT IDEA! I will see if we can include them in the next figures. You guys are right the Sonic characters have top heavy proportions that make them difficult to stand. I will continue to push to make them better! • And finally...Amy is coming!!!...Your positive support gave me the ammunition to get the go ahead on 3in Amy! So keep it coming!...I always appreciate constructive criticism, but please let's play nice or they might shut down our thread. Thanks again for your support! -Joe
  24. Not really, usually I only make one. Sometimes I sculpt them so I can make casts, so that they are sturdier. The Count Marzo figure was made for ToyFare Magazine. I donated it to He-Man.org and it was auctioned off to raise money for the site. I usually do not do commission work for customs figures. I learned my lesson @loll@
  25. Thanks! Yup I am a true fanboy! I love this stuff.
