  1. It seems that most video game based figures just have one shots. Like one or 2 main characters and then they are done. (and this is mostly due to NECA because i cant think of any other company that does video game figures aside from mcfarlanes HALO series) They dont have enough interesting characters in the game to warrant any more. Honestly I feel that Bioshocks figs shouldve stopped at the intial first wave. All you really want are the big daddies for the most part. I mean i do love the inclusion of the splicers but they arent that interesting to have IMO. Other games such as assassins creed have more than one wave but they are mostly consisting of different iterations of Ezio spanning all the games hes in. Fighting games seem to have ALOT of characters to choose from and they seem perfect to have a continued line of figs for years. Most of those characters are fan favorites and want to be made.

I didnt realize how hard it is to find SOTA SF figs nowadays. I was there day one of all the releases so i was able to get all the unique characters and some of their variants by pre ordering them. Definitely my favorite of most of my collection.

Yeah everyone that has them say that the SOTA figures are some of their faves, and truth be told, they do look pretty cool! Ive never had anything from SOTA, infact I cant think of any other figures the do besides SF. NECA really does do the one-shot, video games figures, and that is ok with me. I doubt I would have ever gotten a Ryu from Ninja Gaiden if not for NECA, and honestly there isn't anyone from those games I would want besides him anyway, so I guess it's really a mixed bag. I agree about Bioshock should have been stopped after wave 1, because we didnt get any more here in my neck of the woods until like 7 months later, long after the hype of the game was gone and I had already sold my copy of it. I did get the big daddy, and I may probably get a Rosie at some point, but no interest in splicers...

  2. I don't know what is so hard about this franchise, but we haven't hard any real, proper MK figures, same goes for SF. There just doesn't seem to be much love for figures based on video games, which is a shame, since I love games so much

welllllll technically SOTA did the SF series pretty damn good and it lasted a good 5 waves along with original variants and alt player colors as well. It seems its not so much video game based figures because we have a crap ton of great figures based on video games such as gears of war, dead space, bioshock, and others... mostly made by NECA but they are damn good. Its more the idea that FIGHTING games dont really get the figures that they should. Id love some Tekken, Soul Calbur and actual GOOD MK figures hell even King of Fighters figures. There so many characters in these series and such a selection to choose from.

Well I guess my thinking is more along the lines that I couldn't get any SF figures if I wanted to, not with ease anyway. Yeah the SOTA figures are out there, but unless I turn to ebay or amazon, I wont see it. The Bioshock line was fun, but honestly it took so long to get the second wave out, that I was done with it before it even came out. I will say Gears seems to be able to stick around, them and HALO, but beyond that, I cant think of any franchise with sustainable interest/figures release. But you are right, we do need some more fighting figures.

Why can't MK be a decent toy line? The characters are there! The fan base is there! Stop half-assing it Jazzwares!

  4. That video was funny featofstrength! Yeah it's not a perfect movie, and I do love all the star wars movie, but I take it for what it is. Yeah hearing that little kid act makes me cringe, but I will still go and see it. If I had a kid, I would want to take them to see it too. Im taking my wife to see it for Valentines day (Im such a roMANtic) Ideally, I want her to take it the whole story, be it good or bad, and let her decide for herself how she feels. Personally, the entire story, as a whole is good. The journey of a small child to Darth Vader is good overall. Yeah there are plot holes through out the entire thing, but sometimes I think people look at the original trilogy with rose tinted glasses. I mean, are the mistakes and plot holes created in the new trilogy REALLY so different from the original trilogy? I mean, Ewoks anyone? I mean I am sure I could riff on the original just as much as I can riff on the new, so neither set is perfect.

Yes, I agree the original trilogy is better, but that does not make the new trilogy any less enjoyable. To each his own for sure, but really it's not a terrible movie that movies you want to gouge your eyes out. I've seen enough of those movies on MST3K. Really I want to be able to take her to see all six movies in theaters, just as something to do together.

  5. Yeah man, I HATE the night shift I used to work. It probably wouldnt have been so bad if I didnt have to skip sleep and go back to work.

I guess that's the main thing, the night shift is only cool as long as you're not missing out on something else in the process. And if you get to deal with fewer people at night too, otherwise having to deal with people like you would during the day just ruins the whole point.

I guess I stand corrected. Much respect to the night shifters here.

I was telling the people who may be taking over my night job over at the hotel how easy it is. Honestly its the easiest money I have ever made in my life. If I didn't work two jobs or I didnt need to sleep, no problem, but say I work Monday at my 9-6 job, then I got home for a few hours, then off to the night job from 11pm-6am, then back home again for about two hours sleep before I go back to the 9-6 day job... just kinda sucks!

Mad props to ANYONE who has ever had to work over night or a holiday!

  6. Wheeljack, being an "office guy" suits me well. Myself, I work with spreadsheets some, but most I maintain the non-technical side of our main bank processing software. I mostly process daily happenings of the bank and trouble shoot issues our managers have with our products. I didn't go to college really, I have taken three classes and only completed two of them. I just didn't care for it. Honestly I feel like I make decent enough money to get by, as long as Ive got my wife and money for figures, I am fine.

What I love most about working here is the time off I get. I work the standard 40 hour, Monday through Friday bankers hours (go figure) But having been here for atleast 5 years, I now get three weeks off a year, as well as already having a week of sick time and three personal days, all paid. Add on top of that all the national holidays we are closed (I get paid for those too, there are 10 a year) and I get a close to two months of pay for doing nothing.

Now if I had to make a list of things I hate, I think I probably wouldnt get any work actually done here for the rest of the day, lol.

Yeah man, I HATE the night shift I used to work. It probably wouldnt have been so bad if I didnt have to skip sleep and go back to work.

  7. i am ok with them. right now i prefer the 3 3/4 line but paint is a mess with these. to be honest i enjoy them rather then the mcfarlane walking dead serie. the year just started but i believe these are the worst toys ever for 2012. oh wait mcf does a second wave to the tv series. i hope to get some more mk before this line is done. i need some good guys with all the ninjas hanging around raiden.

Yeah man, I am with you on the Walking Dead being lame... I really want to like them, but the 5" scale kills it, plus the price of 15 is just too much for me. If I can get a 7" Predator figure or a 5" Walking Dead for the same price, I am going with what gives me more for my buck. I would have to be pretty hard up on figures to get any of the walking dead, which is too bad since I love the comics and show...

  8. I know what you mean about working nights. On June 6th. I'll have 17 years on this job and all but 4 months of it has been at night!

I haven't slept well since I was in my early 20's!

Damn dude! Thats impressive! I am starting to worry about my health, not that anything bad has happened, but I really just need to dedicate myself to the day job now.

Seriously, here's to all the night hours people! It's tough staying up all night and never sleeping, no matter how long you do it, you never get used to it.

  9. Breathe dammit, breathe!

Yes, we've got a pulse, but it's weak... TOPIC REVIVED!

OK anyhow, here I am, at the night job, for the last time ever, hopefully. It's been 2 and a half years, which is about 2 years too long. I work night audit for a second job a few nights a week and man, I am really glad to finally have it end. I hate it here, I hate listening to stupid complaints and having to listen to people try and weasel there way into a free night stay. I hate running to people's rooms at 2 am to show them how to change channels on the remote (seriously, it's happened) I hate explaining to prostitutes why they cannot rent a room here. I hate having to listen to people talk about how terrible there stay was, yet I see they have stayed here 5 times in the last year. I hate being half asleep at my job the next day. I hate the way it makes my body physically ache to only sleep every other night for weeks at a time.

Out of all those things I hate, and trust me I could still continue writing, what I hate the most, is leaving my wife at 10:45 at night. I recently paid off some debt and got a promotion at work, so with those combined I can finally walk away from this place. Sure I'll miss all the food I eat out of the kitchen at night when I am here alone, but that is about it! Tonight has been great so far, only a few more stupid hours to go!

Anyone here change jobs recently? Maybe got something about work ya need to get off your chest?

  10. Well I pre-ordered the two figures I really wanted, but they were $2-4 dollars more than the $17.99, but if I find them in the store I will obviously get them and cancel my pre-order cause it says will ship in March. The Steve Rogers though looks sweet.

    what two figures?

  11. I saw a ton of the 4" Mortal Kombat Klassic ninjas today at TRU. Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile, and Noob. They had one full peg last week (8 figures or so). This week they had at least four.

I stopped by TRU today, and they still had all those 4" MK Klassic ninjas. I didn't look too hard, but it seemed like they hadn't sold any in two weeks. I did notice the pricetag, though, which explains it: $14.99 each.

FIFTEEN DOLLARS FOR A 4" ACTION FIGURE WITH NO ACCESSORIES.

I've always given Jazwares the benefit of the doubt, but they must be smoking something crazy if they think that's a good MSRP.

Yeah it's pretty crazy for figures that seem to be "average" at best. Really Jazwares hasnt shown me anything worth getting, which is a shame, because I would love some decent MK figures. Guess Ill have to wait a few years for another company to pick it up.

  12. Poor guy, though honestly, as cool as this would be, it's kinda sad. Seriously, this guy must NEVER want to get laid, try bringing a girl home from the club to the star ship voyager... see if it gets her all excited! I seriously doubt it.

Couldn't it have been something cooler? I mean, why not a Batcave? I really like Star Trek, but Ive got no desire to live on a replica of any of the ships

  13. Got the classic 3 3/4 Reptile last night. He is pretty sweet. Its amazing how crappy the 6 inch ones are and how nice these are! @loll@

    Draven

Yeah that is probably the one nice thing I can say about this line is the 3 3/4" looked better then the 6". Kinda sad really

  14. I am actually excited about this. I've yet to go see a 3D movie, and neither has my wife, but we both think it would be a lot of fun to go and see all the Star Wars in 3D as they come out, so count us in! I know it's not the best, but it is Star Wars, and the pod race was pretty cool...

  15. I always think of ML Toad when this kind of discussion comes up.

I remember seeing a ton of these when they first came out, I thought "no way I want a toad, who would?" fast forward to 15 waves later and I am scowering ebay for a decent deal on it... oh well! Figures come and go, and I can't get caught up on these.

When it comes to being able to "call" what will be valuable... I totally suck!

  16. Mattel will tell you it's not their fault,it's yours.

Yep, it's my fault that RTBY Peter Venkman, a 100% recycled parts figure, costs us 2 bucks more and has the wrong tie color. Thanks, Matty!

And if you choose not to spend your money on him, they have a name for you: "Cherry Picker".

Aren't we all cherry pickers for Ghostbusters? I mean, it's not like there is or was some sort of subscription service for them. I feel like anyone who doesn't have a sub, is a cherry picker in Matty's eyes. To be honest though, you will only get the sweetest cherries if you pick them yourself.

I wonder how long Peter will dangle before they pull him from the site. I was all about this line before, I just love GB that much, but now, I am done with it. I am done with this line that has minimal change for maximum dollar. I am more done with Mattel constantly treating us like they do. That article really sums it up! I have a hard time explaining to my wife the elitist attitude these companies have. She sees it all as "nerds", and that is all it really is. We should all be on the same side, instead of Mattel treating us like they do. Im finally ready to put my money where my mouth is. I will be buying the Rookie and Dana and that will probably do it for me! I've got a few more cherries to pick with MOTUC and I'll be done there as well.

Thank God Mattel didn't get the ThunderCats line...

  17. I had 9 bucks worth of jeffery bucks or whatever with my rewards card there and they didn't really have anything that I HAD to have (theres a first time for everything!) and it was set to expire today, so I had to get something. They had all the mortal kombat stuff there, the 6", the 4", the ninja packs, everything. Not one of them peaked my interest in the least bit. Underwhelmed doesnt really describe how I felt by them. The ninja pack of like 4 figures was especially piss poor. It looks like something that stepped out of 1992 with the lack of detail painting and the subpar sculpt. Seriously, these weren't even appealling with the thought of them being free, or atleast with 9 bucks off. Really piss poor job on these!

    This:

I think they dont look completely horrible (or maybe i just want them to be good since there hasnt been any really good mk figs out ever) and that pack is probably the best theyve brought out(not saying much) and i still couldnt buy them because of their worried looks like please dont hurt me facial expressions. WTF... altho i dont know why i didnt come to just expect this when i knew jazwares were doing them. And they are doing street fighter figs like this too... they look like ass as well IMO.

heres a question tho, why didnt you use that 9 bucks to go towards a game or something? whenever i have tru bucks and theres no figs there of interest i always rely on the games area as a secondary area.

I read on the fine print it said it couldn't be used towards any games or game accessories. There was a bunch of other stuff I couldnt use it towards, mostly baby stuff, but that is why. Plus Ive got enough games to last me a while so I don't want to add any to the pile. I got 18 reward dollars to spend and they send me $9 good from like jan 1-13 and then $9 more for 14-30. Kinda lame, but whatever,

Yeah they for sure have that "dollar store knock-off" look to them. I wish there were some cool MK figures too, and I am sure, with time, someone will get them right, but for now, these figures aren;t doing anything for me.

  19. I think Hard setting would've kicked my ass. I'm trying to do Story+ and my hands were sore from button mashing after only three fights. I made it thru the first Catwoman level, the Bruce Wayne fight with Penguin's thugs, and the fight in front of the Courthouse. By the time I made it inside the Courthouse I was getting my ass kicked despite tossing every weapon in my arsenal and jumping around like a jackrabbit.

I'll admit it's hard, and it doesn't take much to get your butt kicked in the fights, but once you get into the beat of it, it flows like water. Definately a lot of jumping around like you've got no sense!

  20. I think I am going to have to agree with about half the thread that AC was THE game on 2011. Now having said that, I would say I probably spent more hours playing COD Black Ops then anything else in 2011 (even though that game came out in 2010) I love Batman, it's such a fun and challenging game. When you pick the hard setting, it means it! I love the feel of the game too, if you've ever wanted to BE Batman, then this is the game for you!

  21. Anyone played Zelda skyward Sword? Anyone know if it's any good?

I got it for Christmas (today actually) so I haven't had a chance to play it. I don't have the motion plus either so I will need to get that first. My brother has it as says its amazint and addicting. I've always had great love for the series so I am looking forward to sinking my teeth into it probably next week sometime.

Meanwhile my wife and I have been playing the crap out of MW3, we are about lvl 71 and we have been getting alot of MT Dew for the double XP, glad its over tomorrow!
