  1. But why are you changing them? Your statement seems to indicate that you think changing what you collect will change the respect you get from others. Unless your hobby is seeking the approval of others, their reaction should not be part of your equation. Now, maybe collecting the statues genuinely makes you happier, in which case I say go nuts. Just make the decision about you- collection hobbies are one of those things in life that are all about being greedy, so being self-centered when you're faced with choices regarding them is not only excusable, but often the preferable way to go. No, not looking for approval really, it's just since my Toy collecting has dropped off since Hasbro took over (hunting is a lot harder these days) I find myself looking into statues more & more (no hunting, just pre-order or eBay). The added appeal of having folks come by and be impressed by my display just adds to the fun of having something cool that others can enjoy also. I've enjoyed collecting figs for years and I'll definately keep some of my favorite ones, but alas I think the majority must go.
  2. No they don't...but you know what? Once I've put them in the pose that I like (or the only pose that will make it stand ) I pretty much leave it that way until I pick it up off the floor and repose it again. Don't get me wrong! There's a reason I have over 300 of these suckers ...it's just I find Statues a lot more enticing. When family or friends come over they gawk at my Statue collection and go oooooohh...ahhhhhh, when they check out my toys, they say it's a mini Toy R us and laugh at all the toys I don't let my 3 year old play with. I don't know, like I said changing habits. Anybody have any insight as to the best way to offload these things with the least sting?? @pun@
  3. So, last week I went by a different LCS than my usual and I got to talking to an employee about comics etc...I found out that he's a Toy collector as well and he mentioned how he needed various parts (from Legends BAF) so I told him I had lots of spares. He asks me to bring them in for trade and he'd let me take comics in exchange. So this week I go back, he likes what I have and says go pick what I want...I asked if I could get a Bowen MB...no problem, he says. Now I'm the proud owner of a Yellowjacket MB...basically free of charge. So now with my SS Nighthawk MB, White Sasquatch MB, orig Wolverine FS & Classic Hulk FS all coming this week, I feel like it's my Birthday & Christmas all wrapped up in to 1 day. So now the big question...do I try to sell/trade off my 300+ action figures to further my drooling quest for more Statue/Busts??
  4. I was bidding on a Statue that started at .99 cents. I placed a bid with a small amount to show interest. There was always this 1 bidder with only 2 hits that constantly upped the bid by $50.00 increments, I wanted to wait till the last minute to try and snipe it...but all the other legit users were increasing theirs to try and top this guy. Finally the statue went for $423.00 US (to the newbie)...then guess what, yup! He relisted it 2 weeks later. This time he didn't note the issue # or advertise the same (I guess he was trying to cover his tracks), needless to say, I didn't bother bidding with him again. Ebay recently started to cover the identities of potential buyers and we can no longer email other users in hopes of possibly warning them. I would have loved to ask the guys to not bid now and wait for the last minute to let everyone have an even chance of placing their highest bid and not let this guy bump it up every few hours.
  5. I always liked the 90's Superman best. The new Batman is pretty cool as well...the question I have is, where's the Justice League? That tops my list everytime.
  6. Let me add to this fix, I agree with the boiling water or hair dryer. The added info that I found to work best is to add some tooth picks in between each claw after they are soft then tape it all together...then cool them off. this guaranteed me very straight claws.
  7. Yeah, I got a ton of these toys. Especially the Iron man figs...all nice and chrome. I just wish I could find a better home for them other than the box they're stored in? Any takers?
  8. I just wish they'd listen to fans and release all the figs we really want! Enough of the wave after wave of Spidey and Wolverine. Give us the figs we want.
  9. Yup, I gpt series 12, 'cause IMO it is the best one to date. i love the attachements. Very cool fig.
  10. The way I see it, it's not that bad. What with Blu Ray winning the high def battle. This just means that they'll probably release them when Blu Ray is the only option...no need to buy doubles to replace them. Heck, I still haven't bought Star Wars on DVD...holding out for the definitive box set Blu Ray special edition with added/deleted scenes never before released anywhere type scenario....whew! Anyways, Iron Man is the set I got my eyes open for.
  11. No thanks...I got caught getting Spider Woman from MS and the scale was just too off for my liking, I don't want to get sucked into another series that has scale issues with existing lines. I'll stick with ML & DCD...okay, okay...we all know about DCD scale problems, but they are the best DC has to offer.
  12. If I could get my hands on an Adam Warlock, that would be sweet. I waited forever to get a Captain Marvel to go with Thanos, Adam would just be icing on the cake. Throw Magnus in there and wow...my childhood reborn.
  13. Just wanted to start over again (seeing as it's been about 1 year) and try to get back into the game. I used to post awhile ago under the user "Sentry", but as you can probably guess, I couldn't remember my password, and I have since moved and have a new email addy, so retrieving it was a no go. Since Toybiz got axed, I've patiently waited for Hasbro to give me something at retail...so far all i managed was series 1 and all the others I've had to order cases or ebay them from time to time. I'm still missing series 3 and I can't seem to find any locally...ebay here I come again. Anyways, I just wanted to say Hi, you'll probably here from me every so often.
