Every time I think about wal mart getting an entire line as exclusives I wanna vomit!! WM has a SH*T track record when it comes to helping customers or being in stock.
I don't know, when they had an exclusive with Toybiz for the Giantman wave of ML they were pretty well stocked and kept 'em coming out every time the supply dwindled. I'm not saying they'll do a great job or anything but I'm hopeful.
its not the point. they let go of the line. i dont think that a store that only carried the line up to the "steel" wave should get exclusives. i got ALL of my dcsh/dcuc figs from target!(toysRus got me clayface & catwoman) toysRus gets the 2-packs(fine) and faithful dcsh/dcuc carrier "target" gets what?!.....SH*T!!!!!!!
Exactly, why should a chain that doesn't stock the line to begin with, deserve to carry an exclusive wave.
The usual reason: money talks
yeah...and bullsh*t runs the marathon!
Can't argue with that.

for the record....when i say exclusive, i mean any way of getting a fig besides retail. not just comic cons.
OK, so like a Previews or BBTS exclusive figure? That would certainly make it more accessible. I still wouldn't go for an A-lister, but any of the non-powereds listed would be good.
why? you would just have to pay a little more for it.
I mean I wouldn't use up my vote on an A-lister - I'd think that something special should be the exclusive, something you would not necessarily see widespread. Like Lois, Gordon, or Alfred.
yeah....youre right. i would rather get a filler character than an A-lister.
Besides, an A-lister should be used to anchor a wave and be easy (or as easy as these get) to find.
-
one question tho, did batman ever look like the wave 1 figure in the comics? cause to me that looks like the superfriends version. oh and i dont consider myself a marvel fan or dc fan just a comics fan. just my 1 cent.
Yes he did look like that in the comics, throughout most of the 60's, 70's, & 80's.

(sorry, I can't think of any gay dc superheroes other than jerico)
Unless something has changed since his return, Jericho isn't gay.
(read the 'Why he's here' section right above his power description)
I agreed with most of what you said, but I wanted to clarify that one before yet another tangent began.
as a black male, i have to agree. race plays a big part in how people think, or even act. this is off the subject but, i was comming home from the store this morning and a cop pulled me over. he had the nerve to ask me if i stole my indy figs,What?
check the reciept,What?!
and then call walmart.WHAT?!
on top of this, he said that i was a drug dealer because i wouldnt be able to afford my car(H2) at my age(29) AND then he locked my keys in my car. i had to wait for my girlfriend to come with my extra keys. this kind of stuff, believe it or not, spills out in everything! even comics.... Sometimes I am honestly ashamed to be white.
See, this is something that bothers me. Nobody should feel ashamed of who or what they are, even occasionally. I am also a white guy, and I'm constantly told by society, the media, etc, that I should be ashamed or feel guilty to be either white or a guy. The cop was obviously WAY out of line, and shouldn't be wearing the uniform. But Magic 8 Ball should not feel to blame, even momentarily, for this bigotted moron's contemptable actions.
Pooda, I am truly sorry for what happened to you. From your other posts, I know you live in the Milwaukee area (as do I), and you seem like a nice guy. It really saddens me that we still have idiots like this roaming our streets, especially in what should be positions of authority and respect. Police and other people in public service should be (and most are) good examples to the rest of us. I'm sorry this one fell so far short of that.

Back then and maybe even recently, most of the villians were minorities who's enemy was a caucassian superhero back in the 50s'-70s'. If anyone doesn't believe that is a stereotype, you are most likely ignorant. For instance, black manta was an african american villian and his original goal was to take over atlantis so that he can make it into all black utopia.
Actually, not quite true. For years Black Manta was just a guy in a wet suit and funny helmet who fought Aquaman. It wasn't until years later that he finally took off his helmet and said "No, I mean exactly what I said: 'my people'. Or have you never wondered why I'm called Black Manta--?" You can see the panel the quote came from on Manta's wikipedia entry. The taking over Atlantis for "his people" was tacked on then as well. This revelation came out during the 70's when every black character had to have "black" in his name (Black Lightning, Black Goliath, Black Panther, etc). I'm really glad they finally got past that. Imagine if they did that for everyone. White Superman would team up with White Batman to go help Green Martian Manhunter to rescue White Female Wonder Woman.

I can honestly say that DCD figures are made terribly. Nearly half of my Hush figures are broken. My Ra's Al Ghul's leg popped off the second I opened him up. Eventually his sword broke as well. My Harley's arm broke off. My Ivy's knee joint broke off. My Riddler's head never seems to stay on correctly. Some DCD figures are incredibly fragile. If I could go back in time I'd have never opened them.
Wow, I'm sorry you've had such problems with them. I've had just the opposite. I've had several Mavel Legends figures break, but never a DCD and I've collected them almost since the beginning. Admittedly they've had other problems (one of Dr.Fate's legs being longer than the other, limited articulation, consistant scale, etc) but breaking is one problem I haven't seen.
-
Gah! Really man?! Are they that fragile? I don't want figures that fall apart! BTW, I got that other Batman figure in the mail, but it's the Long Halloween Batman, not Dark Victory like I thought. It's a great figure. I actually opened this one because the package was in horrible condition. The only thing that bothers me is his crooked horns/bat-ears. What can I do to straighten them out?
Geeze...has anyone else had any problems with their Hush figures? I don't want them if they just look good in the package but fall apart when you take them out and try to pose them.
I can't say about all of them, I only have Nightwing. But he's been open since the figure came out and I've had no problems. Maybe Blackmada just had some really bad luck with these.
-
Me, I'm thinking we might be getting just 2-packs for awhile until Hasbro decides/retools the single carded line. No real reason or inside information, just a feeling. If we get a varied selection, that could be very cool.
Boy this thread is a much nicer place now. Thanks, Jase.

Re-read my previous post CAREFULLY. The answer to your question WILL be found within. I guarantee it.

BTW, your characterization of "two presumably grown men dropping their pants and reaching for the rulers" is absurd. This entire discussion started when I was asked what formed the basis of my personal insights in to the (supposed/possible) decision made by HASBRO regarding the future of MARVEL LEGENDS.
I responded, simply, "Experience". When that wasn't enough for some, they asked for clarification on that experience, which I provided. When I was informed by a few members as to why, in their august opinions, that experience wasn't in TOYS (Duh!!), I explained that it didn't matter...Then I explained it again, and again, and again...Ad nauseum.
But that's still not enough for some folks. Never will be, because they want to presume that they are somehow "experts", despite all evidence (provided by themselves) to the contrary.
Hopefully, that's clear enough for you.

Nope, re-read it, no numbers.
Perfectly clear. Please wash off the ruler when you're done.
I hear the theme song from the TWILIGHT ZONE playing in my head...
Listen (read) carefully: You DON'T need to work for HASBRO to understand how business operates.
I never claimed to have "numbers". How this idea managed to seep into your brain is a mystery. What happens once it gets inside is also mysterious, and I have serious concerns about your synaptic processes.
Either way, you bore me. Come back when you have something to contribute.
#US1#
It "seeped" into my brain because no sales expert I have ever dealt with could make projections without sales numbers. Obviously your superior "synaptic processes" have found a way to do this with no knowledge of the facts. Congratulations, not even Hasbro (who you don't work for, we get it) can do that.
By the way, I never suggested that you needed to work for Hasbro to understand how business operates. You do however need facts (ie. numbers) to make business decisions. Lacking that, you have only an opinion.
Don't care if I bore you. You no longer amuse me. Good day.

I personally don't see the point in going back and forth with Lemonhead over anything at all. It's like telling a brick wall to move, it's not going to happen, you're not going to convince him that he's wrong in any way shape or form, I'm quite sure you could be in the employ of Hasbro and tell him he's wrong and he'd still quite simply state "Impossible, I am all-knowing." While I don't believe him to be right, I respect the fact that he is (while an @$$hole) one that will defend himself even when faced with the whole of the community disagreeing with him.
Arguing with him is a pointless waste of your time that you could use for something productive. Just agree to disagree and move on or, if he pisses you off that much, just ignore him.
I, personally don't believe any of the claims made by any party in this argument, nothing personal to either ARROW or Lemonhead, there's just a burden of proof especially when it comes to the internets. For all any of us know you're both 17, unemployed and still residing with your parents.
I say we all just agree to disagree and leave it at that. There are no true facts to back up either side other than the fact that the line will re-appear "In some form", which could mean something or nothing.
Really we have to "wait and see" exactly what Hasbro has in store for us as collectors. If they continue "Woo...friggin...whoo" (It's not like they've been producing the best of Action figures), if not...I'll be doing more customs and start taking commissions.
He Loves You.
You're right there's no point. Just bored at work. Waiting for NYCC.

you know what, i think there are sellers that do that. ive thought about that everytime i lost
I know for a fact that there are sellers who do that. A co-worker at a former job bragged that he had his girlfriend bid on stuff he was selling to jack the price up. Not much you can do about it, except decide in advance what your maximum price is, and stick to it. There will always be another Hercules or whatever come up for bid again.
-
That means you spent zero time analyzing sales data, and market research based on sales. That means you have zero experience doing market forecasting, and working on the strategic and tactical development of products.
And you have been doing forecasts for the toy industry? You converse with toy industry reporters and retailers? Have you've been reading the toy industry/hobby trade magazines like Tomarts and Lees, which report and forecast sales figures for various action figure lines? Are you reading--have you ever heard of these? Or are you just another guy with a MBA that happens to buy/collect toys?
Answer honestly.
Or are you generalizing? Sounds like you are--which makes your opinion no more relevant or insightful than anyone else posting here.
Gee, if the sales and marketing of pharmaceutical drugs was so broad-based and all-encompassing, why the heck does it need people with experience doing just that? Cripes, why does the toy industry need equally specifically skilled people? Why not just go out on the street and ask a passerby if they can forecast the next 3 quarters???
Maybe my experience isn't zero....
Oh, by the way...You claim to have voluntarily left a well-paying gig in your chosen field (earning/billing > $1 million per year in the third year of existence) to "pursue teaching and freelance assignments on [your] own after the third year"??? A gig that you owned, no less?!?!?Yeah...that makes sense.
Sorry, not buying it. Your story just doesn't smell right.
Cannot wrap your head around it?
You are an MBA and you cannot grasp that? Oh thats right..........you are just an MBA....
Believe it.
My partners wanted to pursue projects with a purely monetary outcome, and I wanted to pursue some projects simply because they appealed to my interests, but paid less to the studio.
I left the studio to pursue just those kinds of projects on my own, rather than be vetoed.
Isn't that why someone would do that?
Money isn't job satisfaction in my field...........can you smell that now?
Certainly someone who understands business would understands motives in career choices....
I've said endlessly (at least 3 times) that I haven't worked in the Toy industry. I also said (endlessly) that, in terms of this little tete-a-tete, it's utterly irrelevant, and that's the part you keep (intentionally) glossing over...so I'll repeat it ONE MORE time, just so it'll sink in:
Certain facets of business are UNIVERSAL. That means, regardless of your particular profession or industry, some things are done the same way.
Those things are generally based on how marketing and sales are synchronized to further the company's objectives. And by the way, for the uninitiated (such as yourself), "corporate objectives" means FINANCIAL objectives.
You seem blissfully unaware that HASBRO exists to sell toys, NOT to please a small sub-set of comic fan-boys. As one of those fan-boys myself, it bugs me, but as someone who simultaneously has extensive experience in marketing and sales (again, which you don't), I understand the process, and the potential decisions. THEREFORE...(and this is key, so read carefully)...It puts me in a good position to make assessments about what they may be doing or thinking in regards to how their toys are marketed. Again, that kind of insight is based on the FACT that certain business processes (forecasting, market research, segmentation, positioning, and strategic objectives) are UNIVERSAL...Everyone does it.
Is that a "guess"? I suppose so, since I'm not employed by HASBRO. But it's an educated guess, not a shot in the dark.
So let's see...I have an MBA, I have extensive experience in Marketing and Sales, and you...Sit around reading trade journals all day ("Toysource, Teikoku, TDMonthly"), and you somehow think that makes your experience equivalent to mine?
LOL! That's funny. Even if combined with your "vast" experience in the toy industry (and yes, I meant that sarcastically, 'cuz you don't actually have it), if, in some fantasy-land world, the two of us submitted resumes to HASBRO or MATTEL for a Product Manager's job, only one of us would actually be considered for the position. And, since HASBRO is a corporation (meaning a business...meaning they like to make money...meaning they LIKE to have employees who understand business), I think you know who that person would be.
And speaking of smells...I sniffed your story out almost perfectly. I was right...You're doing mostly Freelance work. Again, nothing wrong per se with Freelancing...But it does shed a little light on the hundreds of projects you claim to have "worked on". So let's be clear...Since I also have experience with Agencies (Darn! That experience thing keeps getting in the way of your story!) and Freelancers, those hundreds of projects you "worked on" weren't really your projects...They belonged to someone else. They merely hired you to work on their projects. They supplied the brain-power, and the capital, and the organizational structure...You came in, did a little bit here, a little more there, and now you'd like to claim them as your own?!?!?
Nice try...But I'm not buyin' that one either.
Finally, the most revealing part of your latest "spin" is the reveal on your "company". I absolutely LOVE this quote:
"My partners wanted to pursue projects with a purely monetary outcome, and I wanted to pursue some projects simply because they appealed to my interests, but paid less to the studio."
Wow!!! What a head for business you have!!!! "Hey, guys! Let's start a company!!! And let's try to NOT make money!!!"
Like I said yesterday, many "creative" types are absolutely clueless when it comes to business. That's why a lot of them are frustrated. They sit around all day spinning ideas about what they think will be "Like, really cool!", and they try to convince others of their scheme. When their scheme falls apart because they haven't actually thought through the business implications of their ideas (such as "Would anyone actually buy this idea??"), they become angry and embittered.
They end up making fun of business-type guys with MBA's...Or, they quit in a huff, and get a part-time teaching gig.
Yeah, I've seen that before...Have you?
#US1#
So, as an uninvolved bystander watching two presumably grown men dropping their pants and reaching for the rulers, I have a question.
You emphasize your vast sales and marketing background. As I'm sure you know, they are largely a numbers based business, and you of course understand the process and the potential decisions. Therefore, for you to be able to come to this conclusion, you must have access to Hasbro's internal sales figures (since even they can't make these decisions without the numbers), specifically the sales of Marvel Legends vs. Marvel Movie based figures. Care to share them with us?

Your link isn't working. Let's try this one: http://www.actionfigureinsider.com/main/?p=576#more-576

DCUC series two has made it to Milwaukee area TRU. All of the figures were there, except Red Superman, with the classic Aquaman. Only picked up Harley due to financial responsibility (sigh).
-
I will also have to file this rumor under "hope it isn't true, but I won't worry about it until I hear from an official source". I've done business with ToyGlobe before (just once) and was so thoroughly unimpressed, that I wouldn't take their word alone for anything.

temptation
in Marvel
anybody actually stole a figure because you didint want waste your moeny on it? just a simple yes or no answer will do. i know some F-head is gonne take this topic wrong and speak there mind.its just I've been collecting only marvel legends or dc directs lately and gave up on the g.i.joe scene, but i came across some opened already g.i.joe 25th anniversary figures in my local store and it was just laying there LOOSE! I thought "hey maybe the guy that opened these up got caught?", but then i just ignored it and walked away. on the drive home, i kept saying "damn i shoudlve took it! it was already out of its damn packages". but then again, i dont wanna start collecting g.i.joe again cause this toy hobby is too damn expensive. anyhow, thanks for listening.
if your wondering what the loose figures were, they were: serpenter, lady jay, beach head, and a dreadknok. (all just lying loose on the the shelf ripped out of their packages)
lol, , ive never been tempted to steal anything, so NO, lol, but i wish shops in my area actually did sell marvel legends and x men figures because ive saved bout £300 to spend on these figure but no where sells them.
i feel really guilty though i bought a mohawk storm of e bay, and want to open it but then its worth nothing open but i want to open it, WHAT DO I DOOOOOOOO,
It depends. You'll have to decide what is worth more to you, having Storm out of the package or the value she might bring if you ever sell her. If you plan to never sell her, then the value doesn't matter.

temptation
in Marvel
No, it would bother me whenever I looked at it.
-
Hasbro's done hardly any X men Figures , because Toybiz had already done all the essential.......
I keep hearing that Hasbro hasn't done enough X-Men figures, usually by people who only collect X-Men. Well, just to keep things honest, here's the tally:
Wave 1: Banshee, Emma Frost, X-3 Beast, or 3 out of six.
Wave 2: Ultimate Wolverine, X-3 Jean Grey, X-3 Juggernaut, Xorn, or 4 out of eight. Plus the BAF is Blob.
Wave 3: Marvel Girl, Cyclops, Danger, X-3 Colossus, or 4 out of eight. Plus the BAF is Brood Queen.
2-Packs: Cannonball & Domino, Original Marvel Girl & Cable, or 4 out of four.
By my count, that is 15 6" figures out of 26, and 2 out of 3 BAFs. I think it's about time that they dial back the X-Men presence for a while and let some one else have a shot.
PS. I was also being charitable by counting Quicksilver as an Avenger, although he 1st appeared in the X-men.

I have to trade:

How is this "gold" for Mattel? DCUC and MM were already selling well (if not selling out) so how does this benefit Mattel that they are getting bad publicity and less product on the shelf to sell? The only ones that may make money off of this is the scalpers on Ebay.
