    HELLZ YEA!!! @lol@

I have alway sadmited openly that I "play" with my toys still..even if it's just posing them or setting up diffrent dios...or laying on the carpet in my gameroom doing voices and making laser rifle noises (thwoom! thwoom! @lol ) I do it all...even if I only have a chance to realy mess with them but once or twice a year.

These 25th figs, I just can't put them down! They are so much fun..they have the familiar look of RAH but with the one thing I liked about JVC that RAH didn't have...and that's having removable gear and fire arms on just about every fig! I love the fact that storm shadow's back pack isn't just held on only by a "peg" in his back...but he's actualy rockin' it in a much more realistic way. I realy don't see how anybody could just buy these figs and not open them...how could you resist looking at wave one SE and not tearing open that package!?!? @lol@ The two things that I didn't like about the figs, not being able to put them in vehicles and the lack of back packs..hasbro has promised to fix these things so it's all good for me now.

I'm actualy pretty suprise to hear YOU don't like them, TM...as creative as you are with your dios and customs I thought you'd find some pretty good use for these figs ...

  2. Man, thanks a lot for this "wonderful" news on the movie, Chazz @grumpy@

    No problem

Yea George, I'm with you..I'm tired of this ninja crap becoming the focus of G.I.Joe every freakin' time! Yea it has it's place..a very small place in a military based toy line and shouldn't over shadow so many other huge characters in the joe universe. It's funny to me how hasbro just think we all go ga-ga over ninjas all the time "Just throw them a bunch of ninjas and they'll just eat that #$@# up".. @hmmm@ Not to offend the handicape or anything...but i realy don't have any intrest in seeing a movie that stars a mute...damn that sounded mean! oh well, hate me if you want... Seriously though, there are so many intresting characters that could bring so much to this movie it would be a shame for them not to use them.

Like you, I am loving the idea of Zartan and the Noks playing an important role in the movie.

I am with you on the "mute" comment as well . . . it's ok to admit you hate handicap people, Chazz. Be proud of who you are

    Down with the crips!!!

    -Kevin

@loll@ ...if I wanna see a mute as the leading man i'll watch me some ol' charlie chaplin movies or something @lol@ @smilepunch@

Nah, it has nothing to do with him being a mute, but the fact he's a mute with a mask...it's gonna take a helluva actor to pull off showing emotion with his face covered the entire time @lol@ ...it may be just me, but I think it would be pretty boring to watch ...well atleast boring to watch compared to watching so many emotional charged Joe characters on the screen. Don't get me wrong, I like ol' SE but I don't think he can carry this entire Joe movie by himself. @rolleye@ I think it is important to talk about this sense Hasbro seems to finaly be listening to the collectors.

  4. Not sure if this is old news are not since I haven't been around lately, but I found this article on JOBLO.COM:

Even though VAN HELSING writer-director-apocalypse Stephen Sommers just recently enlisted to take command of G.I. JOE (which, in case you forgot, is now an acronym for Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, an international co-ed force of operatives who use hi-tech equipment to battle Cobra), a script has apparently been surrendered to the Powers That Be.

Prolific scribe Stuart Beattie has finished playing with the kung-fu-gripped toy line and handed in a draft, and IESB says that the story has the Joe team located in the United States instead of the previously announced neutral territory of Brussels (because, of course, USA is Number 1 greatest country in the universe! USA! USA!). The heroic organization will be clashing mainly with Destro, the Baroness and the forces of Cobra, plus the Dreadnoks and Zartan.

Cobra Commander will now reportedly be more a mysterious "Man with the Plan" kind of scheming villain, pulling the strings from the shadows. No signs of Serpentor. The story also apparently explores the history and animosity between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Hooray for ninjas!

Sommers will likely now either discard Beattie's draft, or work on making it really, really dumb. The movie is a pre-strike priority (like everything else), but with the A-list rapidly filling their schedules, we might end up seeing a JOE cast more along the lines of STREET FIGHTER than OCEAN'S 11...

    girrrjoeee.jpg

JOBLO.COM seem to be pretty reliable as far as movies go (it's like my bible) but I hope they are wrong about the movie focusing on storm shadow and snake eyes so much @sad@

  5. I think it was a little too son for another storm shadow..especialy one that never existed in the RAH line...i mean, what's the point right now to do this? They would have done better given us another key figure like Major Bludd, the twins, mindbender, or even somebody like scrap iron.

I'm already getting a little worried that this line is gonna be over ran by ninjas with the new ninja box set comming out. I mean, they are soooooo many troops they could have done before this that would have made more sense. I mean c'mon, so far SE is the only ninja on the joe team...it would have made more sense for the regualr joes to go up against a cobra military instead of cobra ninjas. To me, every Joe line get ruined when they start letting the ninjas run the show @lol@

The ninjas have almost always been a part of G.I. Joe. For me they're as important as anything else.

There were ninjas in the comic before there was Zartan or Flint or Snow Serpents. I think that's something many people try to forget or purposely ignore. I agree that Hasbro overdoes it with the Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow figures, but there's no denying their popularity.

That's why this version was tossed into the Legions box set. If they don't attract buyers with the troops (not everyone's a troop builder) they'll attract buyers with one of the most popular characters in the Joe universe.

They're trying to please lots of people, too. John Smith might like every character except the ninjas, Jim Jones might love ninjas above all else, and Joe Johnson might like to troop build like it's going out of style. Thankfully Hasbro recognizes and appreciates all three buyers.

no doubt that ninjas have always been apart of g.i.joe especialy concerning the comic...but could the toy line survive without a bunch of ninjas in every wave...I strongly think so. I know some people like to pretend the cartoon didn't play a major role in the success of RAH were ninjas were barely even mentioned....but I honestl; G.I.JOE is a military based toy line and as soon as hasbro forgets that AGAIN I see the line failing as fast as it has been succeeding. I think that's what made storm shadow and snake eyes so special in the first place....that not everybody on there team could do the things they do. In my opion the "kung fu era" is long over..kids don't realy respond to ninjas like they use to...they rather have a "bang bang shoot'em up" hero then some dude with throwing stars.

But I hear ya, you can't make everybody happy so it is what it is..i'm probably gonna buy it regardless @lol@

  6. I think it was a little too son for another storm shadow..especialy one that never existed in the RAH line...i mean, what's the point right now to do this? They would have done better given us another key figure like Major Bludd, the twins, mindbender, or even somebody like scrap iron.

  7. Chazz brotha it was hella cool hanging with you on saturday night. sorry if i ghosted on you, but me + jagerbombs + music + ladies = Crazy F'ing Nok Nov. Hell all I remember is dancing with a whole lot of ladies and going back to the hotel, then getting kidnapped and ending up at some georgia peaches's house.

Remember Chazz the Saints vs Texans Ill be in town. I want to party on the Party Bus!

We trying to get that biz-notch up and runnin' now brotha! @loll@ It's cool man that you had to bail...I can tell you were already "gone" when you started dancing to "billy jean" with tha chick @loll@ Give me those dates again so I can make sure to take off that weekend so we can get into some trouble @firedevil@

and Kill you my muthafunkin' boy for life! we had us a lil' adventure that night, huh....you still gotta let me know what went down the next day @wink@

  8. What up Naz! ^_^ Man, that suckz about your wife and all but you'll bounce back in no time..just keep ya' head up brotha! It's good seeing you on here too..i plan to be sticking around for awhile this time so here's to TNI/ADC..our ESCAPE! #party#

  9. As an American, I want everything now, so these figures can't come out fast enough for me.

@loll@ ...anit that the truth! #US1#

"waves comming out too fast..." hold your freakin' tongues! @grumpy@ @smilepunch@ As long as they don't stop stocking previous waves on the pegs i'm cool with G.I.Joes flooding the market. If they are smart this is what hasbro will do. Back in the day nobody hardly bought multiple of figs...but now you've got a legions of costumers, people who want to buy one to open and one keep MOC, and not to mention your friendly neighborhood army builder. I don't think there's a such thing as "the perfect release date" per wave in any toy line...either they come out too slow or they seem to come out too fast...I for one just picture the back of the file card as one big wave and collect that way.

  10. For those who don't know already..Chazz is my real name. I'm comming straight out of Houston and I'm just now getting back collecting hardore G.I.JOE #US1# When I first joined the boards back in the day when this place was called American Dream Comics aka ADC, I was collecting out of control! I uess I sorta lost intrest when DTC came out and they weren't anything realy in the stores. I collected Sigma Six for awhile..but well..i ran out of freakin room! @lol@ But i'm definitely diggin the 25th figs and i'm all over this line like it's gonna end tomorrow (perish the thought!) I will try to post here as much as possible so ya'll be looking out for me. #US1#

  11. Maybe start off the movie with Hawk narrating the opening with flashes of cobra doing acts of terrorism...comming to power and doing something drastic like bombing the white house. Then it could switch to him saying how there became a need for G.IJoe and loosely introduce like 6 core characters.

the first rule of filmmaking is show, don't tell. a formal introduction of the characters is cheap and only serves as a cop-out to introducing the characters in a much more dramatic, dynamic and exciting manner. the screenwriter for the is probably easily getting high 6 figures or low 7 figures for this script, he damn well better have some real great manner in which the story and characters are presented to the audicence beyons a character having to "talk" to them and catch them up to speed.

Not if it's done right..Like in the first LOTR when they introduce the back story of the rings. they didn't do an entire movie about the creation of the rings, did they? but you still got the just and you didn't feel cheated. Besides, there will always be some "fan boy" who's gonna get pissed off if the back story doesn't match the comics 100% @rolleye@ and if your worried about the kids being cheated..look at the RAH cartoon...they didn't get all in depth in each characters past but you still enjoyed every minute of it..well, atleast I did.

absolutely it can be done well. LOTR is a good example, and one of my favorite movies, Fight Club, has a Voice Over narration through the entire movie. but for the most part any sort of narrative or forced formal introduction usually comes off very cheap and is used as a device because the writer lacks the ability or imagination to introduce the characters another way that is actually part of the exposition as opposed to separate from it.

The Rex script actually did a pretty good job of an introduction to the characters, but even then it felt forced. I just would like to see them introduced to the audience via action, and the audience not have to be "told" by the characters.

I always liked the part at the begining of the 1rst LOTR "but the power of the ring couldn't be denied!" @peace@

Think of it this way..if you took only 10 minutes (which probably wouldn't do it just) to introduce 6 core characters...that's already an hour of time with probably alot of talking and/or paper shuffling. If we only get one chance at this...to see our favorite Joes on the big screen...wouldn't you rather see as many of your favorite characters as possible in action? Unless I hear they already signed a 3 picture deal, I want them to go for broke and give me what i've been waiting for 25 years...to see snake eyes jump on top of a cobra flight pod while it's taking off with storm shadow in it ...in real life! @razz@

  12. I agree that the 25th figs have become a target for scalpers. Prime example, somebody at the con bought all of wave 2 for 6 a piece..then turned around and sold them up to $30 a piece! @grumpy@ That is just wrong...especialy at the con when we should be showing "brotherly love" . Sure everybody is there to make money but without a doubt i'd say for the most part all the prices were fair.

I'm normaly lucky when it came to finding Joe stuff..but now, it feels like scalpers do have there eyes on us.

  13. Maybe start off the movie with Hawk narrating the opening with flashes of cobra doing acts of terrorism...comming to power and doing something drastic like bombing the white house. Then it could switch to him saying how there became a need for G.IJoe and loosely introduce like 6 core characters.

  14. I can see the assembly of the Joe team being rushed as the threat of Cobra becomes more apparent, but that might make for some non-exciting back story. Would you rather Hollywood show us the Joe origin for the first (of many) movies, or just get right into some weather dominator battle with Cobra?

That's not a bad idea..but the only thing with that is that they risk putting the spotlight just on one character...I don't want this movie to turn into the "snake eyes story" or whoever.

Maybe start off the movie with Hawk narrating the opening with flashes of cobra doing acts of terrorism...comming to power and doing something drastic like bombing the white house. Then it could switch to him saying how there became a need for G.IJoe and loosely introduce like 6 core characters. I honestly don't think a back story is necessary...and if your not a collector you probably don't care to know Duke's mom died when he was a kid or whatever. I think all they need to make sure is that the characters are giving individual personalities and the movie will be a success. I think the audience could fine atleast one character to relate to without going in depth of there orgin.

Besides, I'd rather them leave it alone then mess up somebody's orgin just to make it more exciting for the movies.

  15. chazz your from houston? i was thinking of going fig. hunting there but i guess i want now seeing as how theres nothing there

Yea bro, I live in houston and I checked all over the Southside by the Galleria area and Reliant stadium. I probably would still check around..houston is a big place and atleast we know we did get them. I tell you what, you look out for me and i'll look out for you @wink@

  16. It's cool Deathblade, Capnjeffro. and KamenDreda..I just wanna take the chance when I go to a con to get to hang out with as many people as I can. There's no reason to ever feel "funny" or "shy" going up to me..i'm down like 4 flat tires and a spare @wink@

What up Thing! What up Adam! What up Hamsterboy! What up Ccav! What up Obiprime! Yea, it feels realy good to be back..honestly i've missed TNI alot..gotta lotta good memories here #US1#

What's up Draven! I know whatcha mean about work and stuff...don't know how often I'll be able to drop by her but i'm definitely gonna be scene around these parts more often.

Bekker and Smokescreen..ya'll just some cool muthafunkaz...wish i could hang out with you dudes more often!

GENERAL ZOD!! WHEN YA' GONNA BRING YOUR BUTT TO A CON AGAIN!?!?!? Man, I needed your support on voting out sneak peek for the CFB..you let me down brotha @smilepunch@

Damn George, we should have pushed that big body machine all thru the ATL and picked up some chicks! @lol@

  17. Duke-Because no matter what you may think, he is the face of G.I.Joe...he's the image of an all american hero who always does the right thing ...he's not "dark" or "mysterious"...he's like the popular high school football quarter back who always makes the right decision in a crisis.

Flint- Every movie needs that tough and slightly arrogant S.O.B @wink@

Roadblock-Every movie needs a "muscle" who can carry "the big gun"..I just hope he's not the first one to die in the movie @lol@

Snake Eyes- Mostly because I think he'll have the best fight scenes.

    Bazooka-well...every movie needs a comedy relief! @wink@

  18. @grumpy@ Dude, I went to 4 targets, 3 Toys R Us, and 4 Wal Marts today and only found one funky ol' Serpentor! Well I guess i should be happy that I didn't end up spending $30 at the con for mines.....But if any body is looking for a hoode cobra commander i'm your man! @lol@

  19. Yes, that's right..I have finaly come home AGAIN! @bounce@

Before it was mostly just for social reasons because there wasn't realy much for me to talk about...but things have definitely changed! First let me say that this 25th line is the best thing to happen to G.IJOE since it's RAH glory days! It has everything you could want...an updated look and articualtion for the new generation..but still recognizable to us ol' schoolers (like me) who well...lets face it...couldn't let go of the past @wink@ If you went to the con you know that what we've scene in stores so far is just the begining. I'm totaly pumped up that hasbro is finaly listening to the collectors. I mean, was it me or did it almost seem like they were beggin' for our approval on everything they showed??? @lol@ They kept asking us to tell them what we thought about this and that and any suggestions we might have...and they actualy seemed pretty genuine on wanting to know what was on our mind...even about the movie. It was pretty much the first time I felt like the power was on our hand as collectors! I will definitely make it even more of a point to go to as many cons as I can because now I feel like we can actualy make a diffrence!

The con was totaly off hook! It was good to see me ol' roommate at every con (what up skrapz!), thanks again Kevin for setting up everything...you are one helluva friend! It was good to kick it with my CFB brothers (next year sneak peak is going down! @lol@ ) but you haven't partied until you've partied with the So Cal Noks..you boyz are insane! @lol@ Hopefuly next year Deathblade me and you can get a chance to kick it...and KamenDreda...next time you wait until the last day of the con to say "what up" i'm gonna kick your azz! @lol@ @smilepunch@

    Last but definitely not least...Gary...Don....JayC...

DON'T FORGET TO LET IT RAIN!!

    @loll@ @loll@ #US1#

  20. To quote my latest PM from Tom-1...

"That reminds me - Tell Chazz thanks for writing his old friend Tom Dash One next time you see him. I guess midnight trips to scary Floridian bus stations means NOTHING to him!"

And welcome back. Hope to see you at this years Con, since we got you a room and all that jazz. :)

    -Kevin

I know I know man, I freakin' feel bad!! TOM is my brother from another mother, I need to get at him! I saw like 2 days ago he pmed back in Feb and I never knew it! If you talk to him again tell him to call me....I miss him @sad@

Yea bro, I'm 90% sure i'm going...don't know if i'm coming thursday night or friday morning. How far is the hotel from the airport btw? am i gonna have to catch a cab again??

Hey Chazz, what's up? The Frag Viper mold's been found(it wasn't gone like we all originally thought), the Renegades are back, and COBRA Commander's playing the "Be my lover" song by La Bouche to try to get Baroness to sleep with him. @loll@

Thanks for the updates man...especialy about the Renegades! I always liked them and I hated how they ended up making Mercer out shine the rest...I perfer him to stick with his crew!

  21. Wow, Chazz, lol. It has been a while man. How have you been bro? I remember when I first came around, everyone that has posted here in this thread used to post back then too. That's when I first got here, and now there are tons and tons of new b's. I haven't been around too much lately because of family problems but I'm still around. I was wondering what had happened to you man. It's good to see you back. Check out my sig. to see how it all began for me, lol.

@loll@ I remember that! *sigh* those were the good ol' days....Glade to hear from ya' bro and thanks for the welcome back.

  22.

    Thanks bro for the help!

That Firefly is just crazy cool! This wave needs to drop soon in Houston because S6 has already started to get stale to me...I need a fresh wave to get me back into them. I'll be the first to admit, when I do have the time i play around with my joes...being the size that they are they aren't compatible to mix and match with alot of diffrent toy lines. Having just a few come out at a time in my opion is killing the line. You get bored messing around with the 6 same characters for what seems like months.
