  1. LAME follow-up wave to the IRONMAN movie line. Re-paint city. TITANIUM-MAN looks to be cobbled together from various MARVEL / TOY-BIZ molds that have been gathering dust in a backroom closet. Then again...what should we expect from HASBRO?? #US1#
  2. I like the zombie series, but then again I love zombies. But I do share your disdain for the deconstruction thing. The have messed with so many characters and gotten away with it. Hawkeye...a fave of mine, former leader of the west coast avengers, former major player in the avengers....is now ronin, a marginal character at best....why? because bendis does not like hawkeye. the latest one is Loki....thor's pain in the ass bro...is now...tada...thor's pain in the ass, but very curvacious sister. stop marvel, just stop. I've expressed my disdain for MARVEL's current direction with my wallet. I hardly ever buy any new MARVEL comics. Mostly, I buy compilations like MASTERWORKS and ESSENTIALS. To me, those represent the real nature of comics. In other words, they were intended to be comics, not the highly pretentious, convoluted crapola that Quesada's boys produce. #US1#
  3. Disgusting. I hate the whole "Zombie" thing at MARVEL. It's a disgrace to the legacy of everything that Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Roy Thomas, et al, did to make Marvel special. In fact, I pretty much dislike most of what Quesada's "boys" are doing at Marvel. I can appreciate that they want to do some different things...but they seem to be stuck in a nihilistic, deconstructionist mode that, frankly, has worn thin for me. "Zombies" is a classic example of this. Sorry. I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, as I realize that there's room for all kinds of tastes and opinions...but watching Spiderman, a HERO, chew on his wife's intestines is completely unedifying, and without any redeeming qualities. But hey...that's just my opinion. #US1#
  4. I'm almost 42!!! We old-sters need to stick together. There's lots of youngens on this board. To quote Abe Simpson: "I don't like the looks a' them teenagers..." #US1#
  5. YES. It will be late, and under-whelming. Die-hards will try to sound optimistic, but it grows harder and harder with each succesive HASBRO wave. #US1#
  6. I always liked his "Blue" look from the late 90's...I thought it was cool. I realize that die-hard Supes fans are vomiting in their cheerios after reading this, but I can't help it. So...I'm looking forward to the Ble/Red figs in Wave II. #US1#
  7. Can't wait for these to hit the pegs!! Wave 1 was great, and Waves 2 and 3 look even better. MATTEL and DC have lifted the year-long depression caused by HASBRO and that toy line they took over... ...I've even switched my reading habits. Exploring the DC Universe and history, which I don't really know a lot about, is incredibly fun. THANKS! (and as always, pardon my fan-boy geekdom...) #US1#
  8. For me, there's two that...stand out!!!! (Pun intended!!) 1. WalMart Wave Thor: I was really looking forward to this figure. He's a great Silver-Age Thor sculpt. But TOY-BIZ really dropped the ball with the design of his waist joint. It's so loose that the heavy plastic cape pulls him to the left, and he falls down VERY easily. REAL DRAG. 2. Face-Offs 2 Wolverine: His knee joints are looser than Paris Hilton. He simply won't stand. #US1#
  9. ...And I just heard a rumor that HASBRO is going to snatch the MARVEL LEGENDS license from TOY-BIZ!!!!!! Yeah, right! HASBRO...as if!!!!!!!!!!!! #US1# (Sorry, I couldn't resist! Thanks for taking the time to post the pics...you didn't know they'd been up before.)
  10. I usually appreciate the often-eclectic figures that DC Direct produces. For instance, I love the KINGDOM COME and JUSTICE figures... ...And the Darwyn Cooke-inspired NEW FRONTIER figures... ...But these are just plain ugly. Eeeewwww... #US1#
  11. POKEMON. Been around for at least 10 years. My 7-year old is a fiend for that stuff.

    pre-legends

Yard-sale grab-bags!!! $ .75/each. Add a piece of candy. The kids want the toys and candy. Meanwhile, their parents are perusing my old, unwanted furniture. It's a win-win situation. #US1#
  13. I'm relieved to discover that the problem is apparently widespread: http://www.banned/columns/spotlight/dcucs1.shtml FYI, I'm not happy that others are having the problem; I'm happy because if it's widespread, MATTEL will hear about it and fix it for future waves. #US1#
  14. I'm sorry, but I didn't get this joke the first time, and I don't get it now. Must be something in the water affecting my synapses... @hmmm@
  15. OK! So..Who wants to give me a left leg for my METAMORPHO?? Whoa! Don't all jump up at the same time, now... C'mon...One left leg...Such a small thing, for a friend, really... ...Anybody?? Hello??? Is this thing on???? ...[cue crickets]... ...bummer... #US1#
  16. Wow! All two or three of him? @smilepunch@ My Metamorpho has a leg that comes back off pretty easily too, it has not broke yet. I hope the get things tighter on future builders. Just for the sake of clarity...It broke because I'm an idiot, and I lost my temper. Here's the whole, boring story...in case you're interested. I tried boiling it, thinking that it would soften, and that I could really jam it in the joint so that when it cooled, it would fit better. Why?? I dunno'...desperation, maybe?? So after I did that, I shook the figure to see if the leg would hold. It didn't. It shot out, bounced onto the stove top, and (NO JOKE!!!), landed on the still-hot stover burner, where it proceeded to melt!!!!! I grabbed it off of the burner, but it was too late...A big spot had melted on the side of the hip-joint. THEN I threw it down (hard) onto the granite counter-top...and it broke. Now I'm out one left leg that (of course!) only comes with the RED TORNADO, the hardest figure to find in the entire wave. AND...even when I find one, I need to use one of the prescribed "cures" that a few others have mentioned to fix the joint on BOTH legs and one right arm. So MATTEL...If you're listening...I love the 6" DC figures you're making, so much so that I've pretty much dropped MARVEL LEGENDS (and I'm a MARVEL guy from waaaaaaay back, too). I plan on getting them all. But if you're going to do BAFs (or "click-n-connects"...whatever...), then the connective joints need to be stronger. ...sigh... #US1#
  17. D'OH!!!!!!! That's so stinkin' perfect...why didn't I think of that??? ...Too bad I need another left leg, now... THANKS!!!!!!! #US1#
  18. ...So I picked up the Penguin today, and I'm feeling good, 'cause I'm gonna' go home and build my METAMORPHO. He's one of my favorite DC characters, and the sculpt looks great, so I'm pretty excited (in my geeky, fan-boy way...) I assemble the pieces, and I start to snap them in place. Right leg first...then left leg... ...And here's the problem...the left leg would snap into place, but VERY weakly. It popped back out easily, with minimal pressure. Upon examining it, I find that the right leg is only slightly better. Same for the right arm. So basically, I'm mad. The stinkin' joints are weakly attached, at best. The figure will stand, but if I try to pose him, his legs pop out at the hip. Has this happened to ANYONE else??? I'd like to know before I start looking for another torso (and left leg...kinda' had a temper tantrum...) Grrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!! @grumpy@
  19. Does anybody have any idea what this guy is saying? Yeah...I know...not very PC... ...but c'mon! #US1#
  20. The next HASBRO Marvel Legends Wave? Hmmmmmm... Green Wolverine: (variant of HML 2 Wolvie - only available in Philipines) Orange Wolverine: (variant of HML 2 Wolvie - only available at a WalMart in Odessa, Tx) Pink Quicksilver: SDCC '08 Exclusive. Widely available at hasbro.online by Dec.'08. Semi-articulated AIM soldier: With super-cool Hasbro-joints! X-3 Professor Xavier: Re-release of ML 9 Prof. X, but in blue. X-3 "Alkali Lake" Cyclops: In civilian clothes. He has no glasses. His eyes are red (uses ML Face-Offs "maskless" Daredevil head) BAF: Movie HULK!!!!!!!!
  21. Depends on whether I'm buying or selling! But seriously...these prices may seem high, but some of these figs from waaaaay back in '01-'02 are impossible to find, even at a secondary store like a Comic Shop. And the variants??? Fugetaboutit!!! Bottom line: If you're seriously interested in collecting some of these older figs, especially the variants, you're going to have to pony-up some serious $$$. Is it worth it??? Depends on how bad you want it. Are scalpers taking advantage of you? Again...depends on how bad you want it. GOOD LUCK!
  22. These look FANTASTIC!!!! How glad am I that I no longer really care about MARVEL LEGENDS????? HASBRO's and MARVEL's loss is MATTEL and DC's gain! #US1#
