  1. I'd like to see it for sure. But, these would have to be all new, and very good. Had everything "online" been at brick and mortar retail at $6.99......I'd have bought the same stuff (which isn't a lot, I guess....). But then, in my area, I would have to actually go out and hunt these things down....hope they aren't picked over.....hope they are actually at one of the stores.....I guess I see more value in the "same" price to order online. But, I suppose if one has a ton of retail stores that they frequent often it is easier and faster to get figures that way. I don't, everthing with the cheapest shipping rate usually makes it to me by the third after I order and I would save 2 to 4 hours of me driving around. But, yeah....if there were some "good" gijoe figures that were $6.99 a single card, at, let's say Kmart....yeah, I'd buy them. Always good to dream!
  2. There was an over-demand on the mail-in Storm shadow first time around, so supplies did not last. There was then a second production order that was made to fill the unfilled orders from the first round. If you have not gotten a letter back with your money stating that the mail-in Storm Shadows are no longer available, you should have gotten one--according to what I've read here, and from my own experience. If you have moved between the time you ordered and now, you may have to update the company that handled this (use the mail in storm shadow address) with you new address--this happened with me, I guess these things couldn't be forwarded (for whatever reason). I would contact (write a letter) the company that took the order, Hasbro was no help for me on this on--although they did have a FAQ about this on their website--this was all months ago, too. But, MC has a bunch of them on their online store, which makes me wonder if those aren't the extras from round 2.......
  3. The PG is great for a somewhat realistic MBT scaled tank, but Mauler does kicks its oversized armored butt. Both of those, topple over the MOBAT by far. The Brawler is another tank, it has actual operating reactive armor on it. Has some detracting orange on it, though.
  4. The Borg were up to date on Starfleets technology, they have adapted much of it into their collective. The Borg might not have assimilated 1920's technology in the 24th century..... Hand to hand I would suppose that they are all amped up on cybernetic implants where they could be twice (or more) as powerful as a normal assimilated species.
  5. Over the last half of 2005 I slowly sold and traded off over half of my collection. It was mostly vehicles. The modern sculpt joes and vehicles, I pretty much just gave away most of those (like, no one seems to want them). They just didn't interest me, and although they were not impulse buys, I did not plan on buying any, but still ended up with quite a few; they were easy to just give away for the most part. The only part of my collection that I can say I miss that is gone now, was my almost complete '88-'94 collection of vehicles. So, why did I get rid of those? Well, 3/4 of my vehicles were in storage bins and I just wasn't able to get them out on display shelves like I had years ago. I just couldn't enjoy them, and the stacks of containers were just everywhere. So, I made the choice to keep only the absolute favorites, the rest had to go. I do miss all of my classic arah stuff, for sure. Like, the Blockbuster or the Desert Scorpion, or the shark 9000. Or, even the Rage. Miss them much, and I know I'll have to pay 6 times what I let them go for to get any of them back at the same condition that they were in. But, it has been good overall. I really enjoy what I have that much more, and I have some space to get other things. It's just nice to not have to deal with a lot of stuff, ya know?
  6. It is interesting having these accurate high detailed vehicles next to some official Joe equipment. Like the humvees, I don't like the Hammer next to them.
  7. Am I remembering wrong, weren't they originally $49.99 at Walmart? I held out until they were clearanced at $20. I got the tan, but would so much rather have the woodland (my joe-theme more or less). Now they sit on a shelf.
  8. What's your collection looking like now? Do you have an ultimate final goal as to what you have? If you're strictly limiting yourself to 1982-1985 type items, or the more general olive drab military looking stuff, I'd suggest the APC. It seats many, really has a somewhat timeless style to it, and it's amphibious. (I'd suggest the action force version of the APC, I'm still looking for one myself, but it has more ammenities.) But if you're lacking "enemy vehicles," then the DEMON for sure. It's a fairly unconventional battlefield vehicle, but has a very modern look to it, sporting radar-reflecting angles (like the F-117a stealth fighter). IF you're a Destro/ Iron grenadier fan, then definitely. It seats three, has two turretted guns, 6 missiles, like was mentioned above, a DeSpoiler landing pad, and elevating body. It's not a run of the mill MBT, but is very unique. If I "had to" give one of them up, I would give up the APC. Only for the fact that, it only has the one non-elevating turret, and basically just gives 28 Joes a cozy ride. The Joes can catch a ride on the foot pegs of many other vehicles. (Although, I hope I don't have to give up my APC, or better yet, I find a AF APC.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- edit: pointed out below me...is it APC, or AGP? Anyway. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If it is AGP, then I say DEMON. The AGP is a neat little craft, but the DEMON is more fun. for me anyway.
  9. The Zartan addition to #5 is my favorite A.E. thing as of yet. Zartan has been an often used character but prior to him being sent off to kill Snake eyes, we know little of his origin. So, as far as what we've seen so far, I like it. I did "drop" the book around the mid-#20's and picked it up again at #40, so I missed a few things from the "original" DDP book. I don't feel like I missed out on much in that time. From posts, it sounds like a bunch of cameos and re-appearances. The "dawn of the red shadows" is what got me interested again. Why? New enemy! But, there are loose ends to that bit that leave me less than enthused. Anywho, as far as A.E.'s "core" story goes, it's not bad, but sometimes feels a little less "adventure, " or "action," and more like "soap opera." I really dig the inclusion of Storm Shadow on the team, but the "original" DDP series muddled that up. Sure, his brain is fried from brainscanning, but he flip flops more than a blue gill panfish. But, I'm glad to see he is back to his "good" self. Again, anyways. Colton should not be there.
  10. I also bought just the Rhino, and the 25% off and free shipping still kicked in.
  11. Ok, just bought one. NOT as detailed as I was looking forward to. The lines are not crisp. There are very noticeable gaps in the parting lines. The nacelles have a more than noticeable tilt up from front to aft. And the saucer section is not level. I see one nacelle 'above' the saucer, and the other nacelle below the saucer from a head-on bow view. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- edit: I'm not 100% happy with this. I went back to get the most 'straight'/ nicest looking one, but all of them are a little messed up assembly-wise. All the Saucers were on a pretty noticeable angle, none of the ships had nice parallel nacelles (each had a funky angle to them.) The paint details are cool, though, and the lights are great. Just the assembly irks me, huge gaps all over..... I kept the best one, though, and already sent a quality issue type letter to Hallmark. Do you all really think it is worth $28 to those who purchased one? I really don't. This is more like a $12 value to me. I do dig the battery change up, the cords to really limit a person to the tree light string for display, and the heavy display bases just don't go on the tree at all.
  12. Thanks for the thread (a reminder for me)! I would have totally forgot until the middle of January and missed out!! I really dig these ornaments, what I have got: Bird of Prey, Romulan Warbird, 1701-d, NX-01, borg cube, Runabout, DS9, voyager, ummm, I think that's it. Pretty much most except for the 1701 original, Galileo, and last years Vulcan ship (I forgot all about ) These things are great, for the most part. Some I just haven't loved as much as others. Like the Bird of Prey; that thing rocks. The Romulan Warbird; I didn't like as much, it didn't have much for lights. Anyway, thanks for the thread to remind me, there's no way I can miss out on the 1701-A!
  13. That's very nice! (Actually makes me miss my Shark 9000 now ) Sweet boat, and this shows how much better good color choices can improve it!
  14. SPOILERS ---------------- The 'bad guys' that the Enterprise crew saved Shram's (Andorian) daughter from, somehow catch up to Enterprise, and beam aboard. I think they were at warp. I dunno, these 'bad guys' just came out of nowhere. Archer and Trip are in the corridor that the 'bad guys' are coming down, and Trip subdues Archer, so he (Trip) can proceed with his plan) Long story, Trip leads the 'bad guys' to a certain panel, convinces the 'bad guys' that he actually is helping them take over the ship (or something like that--they want Shram), but Trip actually sets off an explosion, with himself pretty much in the middle of it. Killing the 'bad guys', and then Archer awakens and tries to help out Trip. Too late> Phlox can't help him in sickbay. Umm, pretty much a real fast and, to me, a strange scene. AND then a later scene, which took place before this, has Trip in it again. I'm disliking this episode more and more. ------------------ END
  15. What did everyone think of the first half of this episode?
  16. BEWARE SPOILERS -------------------- I only got to see the second part, had no cable access when the first one was on. I was liking it, but, was somewhat confused--mostly since I didn't see the first part. So, it is only a 2-parter, huh? Now I'm bummed, I was looking forward to a part 3. I mean, it just leaves so much open! I wonder if the mirror-universe Enterprise crew members are truly "mirrors", or reverses of themselves of the normal universe? I'm thinking character build here for the remaining episodes. Such as: Hoshi kills Archer--no loyalty to the captain at all. But in the normal universe is this "mirror portrayal" evidence of Hoshi's extreme loyalty to captain Archer? Any other anti-character/ character traits that stand out to you? (If you buy in to what I'm thinking here ) As for the Gorn--once Archer has it pinned on the floor under intensified grav-plating--the real Archer would not have shot the Gorn, rather I think the real Archer would only subdue it and keep it neutralized as a threat. I think the Gorns inclusion just adds more to the character. And as mirror Archers conscience pushes for more fame/power/glory and what not, would the real Archer be just the opposite--preferring to be just a footnote in history? Maybe Troi and Riker reference this--sort of how Z. Cochrane is famous in the future--but just wanted to be left alone in Star Trek: First Contact. -------------------------- END SPOILERS
  17. TNG-cast movies don't fit the "even theory" for me. I don't think Nemesis sucked, but it was really lacking, for me. The director was hired to bring "action" into the movie, from what I read way back when. I like Generations more than Nemesis. Fairly recently, I watched Generations, and it's not too bad, imo. Kirks death was ok, too, imo. But that's another topic. to rank, TNG-cast movies: (best on the top, worst on the bottom, imo, of course) First contact Generations Insurrection Nemesis
  18. I never got to see any of Firefly, from reading summaries on the internet it sounds like it was kind of cool. Was it only a dozen episodes made?
  19. Also, what about civilian life in the Star Trek universe? I was thinking more criminal figures when I mentioned smugglers and what not, I shouldn't have used Boba Fett as an example. I wasn't thinking an uber-bounty hunter. The ship I'm thinking of is something that looks like a normal craft--but has hidden holds and what not. It could be something more dark, I guess, too. But also, just regular folks. Does everyone own a shuttlecraft? The background thing I'm just drawing for fun is sort of 'little house on the prairie' meets 'star trek'. So I'm not thinking a new star trek, just something else that *could* exist within that universe strongly. Nothing that is going to 'save enterprise' and what-not. For elaboration, even in TNG-era, there are still colonies--the Federation isn't everywhere, so I was thinking of what type of situations might occur out on a new frontier. Sort of wild-west, who would move to a new-potentially dangerous planet-to make a new life for themselves. What's wrong with good old Earth. ya know? It seems natural that someone on the edge of civilization will take advantage of a lesser degree of authoratative structure, and then there is still a lot of good folks in the same area. What type of life would be going on out there? Does everyone have a replicator? Is food never a problem? Property ownership? Star trek money--is latinum the galactic currency? Are there any wheeled vehicles in use? Just something fun, overall, for the heck of it.
  20. What I would like to see: Other characters and what not from the Star Trek universe that are not a part of Starfleet, or the Federation, as the main focus. I was sketching out some potential Star Trek smuggler ships or a mercenary ship, and I was looking for some "official" Trek pirates or smugglers to use as inspiration and to make my stuff look like it would fit, but there is really not much out there. Can you thnk of any non-starfleet related characters that could hold their own, let's say, TV series? I'm imagining something like a Dash Rendar, or Boba Fett. Rogue, dangerous, and looking out for number one--themselves, ya know? I was thinking even a small cargo ship with smuggler modifications, but nothing is really catching my eye from what I've seen. Anyone know of any good "official" Star Trek cargo (non starfleet) ships links?
  21. Spoiler-possible--recent shows Now that you mention it, Trip did transfer to Columbia, didn't he? The only reason he ended up back on Enterprise, last I remember, was due to Klingon enhancements messing up something on Enterprise. Remember the "Speed" type situation where they had to stay at high-warp but cold-boot the engine at the same time? Is he just on Enterprise until all the Klingon damage is cleaned up, or did I miss something lately? End spoiler-possible I am looking forward to new shows, though!
  22. Yes, those runabouts really are roomy! Wasn't it a lounge in the very rear, and some bunk rooms, plus a very spacious cockpit with mini-engineering station/transporter? Now where was the engine again?
  23. I really like almost all of the trek ships. The Cardassian ships were pretty cool, imo, since they are more unique in shape (I'm thinking the Galor and Keldon, etc.) in that they were sort of mono-hull, but didn't have big warp nacelles like many of the other species ships had. The majority of the hull is also forward and trails off towar the back. They sort of remind me of an ocean-going vessel, with the high front bridge section. The Maquis Raider ship that Chakotay had was pretty unique, too. It's not a shuttle, but is still pretty unique looking.
  24. I've heard Obi-wan does a little dabbling in the 'dark side' after hours. As a side, in ep4 on Lukes bombing run, Obi-wan has him stretch out with your emotions. Could Obi-wan have unintenionally 'stretched out' his emotions after Qui Gons death, leading to his dealing with Maul? Sort of letting it all go and come back into one's self to make full use of the force?
  25. I like Star trek, but it's these little situations that, I dunno, go, bleehhh. At the same time, is everyone in the room suppose to think, "wow, and that is so totally gonna happen, and those charcters don't even know it!' Not to sound negative, but I find it more mushy than anything. And I like this example (it's good, just not my favorite aspect of trek), and this could very well be what really happens in the final show. Or, like someone else mentioned, it could just be Riker and Troi giving us (the viewers) a TNG reminiscent 'history' of the first starship enterprise. (and pan the model wall and show the NX-01 in place) BUT, if the writers really wanted to stay with the continuity, why would they do that, the NX-01 was never on display in any Enterprise. (was it?) So as much as I dislike it, I think we are going to see the holo-novel ending. BUT, then again, we may get some HUGE surprise. Maybe.
