  1.

mmmmmmmmm yeeeeeeeeah! That's going to get hit with the ol' Satin Black for sure. Has potential, but I'm just not liking it so much.

See yeah, it needs some work.. Paint it up nice with some Tamiya Flat Black, some decent headlights, fix the wheels, get rid of that stupid lifting feature... Put on an acceptable weapons turret, like that on the Marder 1 IFV, with a 30mm auto-cannon, grenade launcher, smoke dispensers, and anti-tank missile tube..

It'll take some doing but I'm excited about it! Probably get about three! :D

  2. I HATE, I MEAN HATE the idea of Supergirl stronger than Superman. It makes no sense and just feels cheap, hell I don't like Supergirl anyway. When I read that mess it totally rocked me to annoyance. Second was the idea that Bizarro was also stronger than Superman, that writers brain was also addled.

I think what we actually hate is a lot of what Jeph Loeb writes! LOL!

  3. Andre Braugher is Darkseid? Really? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love the guy in "Men of a Certain Age," but really?

Seriously, they continue the DCAU reunion theme by casting Daly, Conroy, and even Asner!?! But they don't bring back Michael Ironside? This guy MADE Darkseid!

It's not a deal killer, I'm sure the movie will still rock, but this is a definite mark against it.

I totally agree. I mean Andre Braugher is almost certainly a better film actor than Michael Ironside imho - but Ironside will ALWAYS BE Darkside to me.. I also think he made it his role in Superman, Justice League/JLU you know?

I dunno, I guess I'm jaded... Really liked him as Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell and in the 1980s V also..

And I still have really high hopes for this.. (Turner drew girls real PURDY!! :P) But I just hope they cut out all of Loeb's ret*rded "Supergirl may be more powerful than Superman" crap! LOL!

  4. Masterpiece Transformers are the only TF toys I consider buying nowadays, however I do not like how small he is compared to prime. Does anyone know why he was produced so small??

Bugged me also! haha I went and bought a Chinese KO 8 inch tall Optimus Prime so all he'd be more in scale with this Grimlock and the rest of the Classics line!

  5. Sorry for another post so soon, I saw the rest of the drawings on the link above.

Make sure you include peoples lower legs and feet... people tend to cut of feet and hands. Your Cap and Snake eyes are great examples of the direction to move in.

    Play with your composition.

Thanks so much for the kind words! :) Compliments from an artist feels good! haha (I've also been out of art for almost a decade so it keeps me encouraged!)

And thanks for the pointers.. I totally agree with what you said about backgrounds also!

I too start out with the focal point at an angle I like:

And plug it into the rest:

I agree with what you say about traditional media - everyone seems to be using it today and I kinda' want to set my art apart from them in the future. I do prefer to only use Photoshop for inking, coloring, and effects though.. (I wish to work either in the comics field or as a designer and digital inks and colors get are so much faster and scan and send so much better for me, of course I could just suck @ss with a scanner! hahaha But like you I prefer traditional media for everything else in the process.. (I just noticed I cut her feet off in this piece! HAHA <groan>) And also I prefer to use my eye, a ruler, and a pencil with backgrounds (environment as you said :) ) instead of digital programs as I think the parts mesh together better..

Again thanks for the compliments and pointers! Please keep the constructive criticism and pointers coming also - as I badly need them! LOL! :D

  6. I really like your artwork a lot, NewGuy. I honestly think you've got the talent to go pro, no kidding. Are you just starting out in your art career, or are you an old hand at this? I mean, obviously you didn't just pick up your first pen yesterday, but I'm just kinda curious about how long you've been at it.

Do you ever put that artistic talent to use customizing some action figures?

I do recommend that anyone who likes Star Wars or GI Joe click on NewGuy's links, his stuff is enjoyable.

Hey man thanks a lot! I need all the encouragement I can get some days! (Especially days like today) hahaha

I used to ALWAYS take art electives but I got my BA in History.. (I fell for the bullsh*t that men had to go into a "manly" profession instead of going with the gifts they were born with you know? Family thing...)

While I don't regret my old career - I did get disillusioned with it. So recently quit my old job and am making a stab at trying to be an artist. And since I took like ten years off from art I have a sh*tload to catch up on, especially with digital media and making business contacts.

As to customs - I used to do them a lot. Don't have the time to as much now b/c my hours are crazy but here's my old site: http://whoflungpoo.t....com/my_weblog/

Unfortunately, I haven't updated it for a while, I haven't added some of my new stuff and haven't replaced some of the pics of the customs I tweaked! haha

Anyway, thanks again for the kind words - it really helps!

PS: If you do customs please post a link! ;)

  7. Current shows:

Community-the "Modern Warfare" episode was probably the funniest episode of anything ever made

Parks and Rec-it improved in it's second season

The Office-not as good as it used to be, but still good

    Modern Family-it has Al Bundy

The Middle- Brick, the little kid, is a nutcase. The Janitor from Scrubs is the dad.

Big Bang Theory-I would kill Sheldon if he were real. He's annoying, but the show is funny

Two and a Half Men-still a funny show

    The Simpsons

    South Park

    Family Guy

    American Dad

Aw man! Forgot to add South Park!! >_<

  8. All In The Family

The Simpsons (yes better than Family Guy!)

    Beavis and Butthead

    Family Guy

    King of the Hill

The Venture Bros (I know some people say it's not really a comedy but funny)

    Lucky Louie

Man, whole lotta' cartoons.. :P haha And can't think of 3 more to make a top ten - need some caffeine, or booze! LOL

  9. If you're in the military you can get "creative" with MREs! haha But I mostly just grill..

Apologies to anyone who brought this up but Men's Health put out an easy "guys" cookbook: A Man, A Can, A Plan

Easy and somewhat healthy food... Just need meat, soda/beer/alcohol/, can of some kinda' food stuff - mix and cook!

Ya know, I've always been curious about those MREs. I had a few 20 years ago, but I think they may be better today, no?

Somewhat - but depends on how hungry you are! haha You always dislike certain entrees or sides so people are always trading and switching..
