Film, Literature and Art, in addition to Comics, Cartoons, Action Figures and Fine Cuisine are of the utmost important Essentials in life.
  1. "Don't know. Never been attacked by tree."
  2. dang, i've been away from these boards for too long. this thread looks like fun. i picked up "F for Fake: The Criterion Edition" the other day. orson welles was definitely a misunderstood genius, as evidenced by this film. check it out.
  3. Part V (Jason Lives) is my favorite because it's just so damn goofy. Like when the paintball guy gets his face smashed into a tree and leaves a big smiley-face imprint. Lame, lame, lame movie, but I love it!
  4. if you like this flick, try to find the canadian import 3-disc set. it's awesome.
  5. donner's superman is a classic. superman II is pure cheese, but in a GOOD way (general zod = awesome). spider-man was near-perfect, and the sequel was even more so. X2 dwarfed the original. batman (1989) has it's moments, but is better in memory than when watching it today. everybody disses it, but i think unbreakable is a genius and original entry in the superhero genre of films. how come swamp thing gets no love? just kidding.
  6. yeah...i bought a ringwraith waaaaay back when the first wave was released. it's a decent fig, but the rest of everything i've seen on the shelves just looks...scary. the likenesses suck, in my opinion. i don't think toybiz even comes close to capturing the richness of these characters.
  7. whoa, it's DEFINITELY not to scale with any of the current figure lines. it's roughly 7" x 11" and made by the same team that designed the maquettes for the film itself. i've never seen any of the sideshow LOTR envornments "in person," but if the figure statues are any indication of quality of sideshow's other works...then the golden hall must be excellent. 8. it's not on the list, but i thought that Metroid: Zero Mission was really great, and a nice throwback to a game that i enjoyed in my very young days.
  9. no problem with my stylus. maybe yours is a dud.
  10. I checked out Sideways the other night at the local "art house" theater. I must honestly say- that this film is an instant classic. One of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Definitely not for everybody, but for those who "get is," it's a work of pure perfection.
  11. i was wondering if anybody has the Hellboy 1/4" from Sideshow Toysfrom sideshow toys. i am considering buying this piece, but want to know if the hefty price tag justifies the purchase. it looks badass, but i was hoping for some first-hand opinions. anybody?
  12. a "bridges of madison county" toyline would be the best thing EVER. kids and collectors alike would flock by the millions toy stores across the universe. dare to dream...
  13. great flick! it makes one feel uncomfortable. it also makes me think twice about taking a canoe down a river in some backwards, backwoods southern region! i was kind of polarized after the first time i saw it (fresh outta high school about 9 years ago), but i really loved it anyhow. deliverance turned me on to the other films of john boorman (the director, duh!), he tackles brutality (both psychological and physical) with such mastery. check out: -"the emerald forest" -"hell in the pacific" (awesome!!) -"beyond rangoon" (depressing as hell) -"the general" -"excalibur" (the war scenes are brutal and awesome, but the rest of the flick is fairly flawed) haven't seen "the tailor of panama" yet, but it's on my "list" of films that i need to watch.
  14. indeed. took the type right out of my fingers.
