  1. hello, Please forgive a little bit of shameless self-promotion. I started a webcomic called: "Rogue's Galley: the Villain's Bar" It's a satire WEBCOMIC about the has-been villains of the 1980's as they dream about their glory days and fritter away their retirement at a nautical-themed dive, the Rogue's Galley. www.RGcomic.com Every Monday I update with a new strip. Im on my twelfth strip so far. I am honestly just hoping to get some feedback on what folks think of it. Either reply here or send me a message via the e-mail link on the comic's site. Ive got over 30 strips written. So it will be going for a while. The strip is completely NON PROFIT. Im a professional illustrator, I work for the gaming industry (like on RPGs and the like), I do the webcomic to keep my creativity flowing and to help me practice meeting deadlines (one full-color comic every Monday is a good practice). So please let me know what you think of "Rogue's Galley". kindest regards,

  3. Thanks Gojira. Is that MOTU painting in your signature line an actual piece or a photoshop combination?
  4. Has it really been a year? whew! Unfortunately, I never found the time to expand upon that piece But I have been doing some interesting stuff for a couple of cool companies lately. I will have those pieces on my site in about month. In the meantime, I have uploaded some other projects... www.Rogue-Artist.com take a look!
  5. Looking for GI JOE miniatures: http://forums.toynewsi.com/index.php?showtopic=2057401
  6. Happy day! Some of my long overdue supplies arrived today, so I sharpened myself up by working on a section of one of many pieces waiting to be completed. The full piece is 7" X 14" or some such. I've begun colorization using ink. All of it: ink. If anyone has worked with ink, you know it to be the bane of your existence, yet you just can't stop until you've mastered it! LOL All the old comic books were done in ink and you never saw shading. Because you have to be Faster than the dry-time of ink to get your blending in, you have to put it on in multiple layers and once it's on, it AINT COMING OFF. LOL If you're one of those anal-retentive artists like myself, and one little imperfection will ruin hundreds of hours on a large piece, ink is the bane of your existence! I've been at it with these inks since one of my college teachers got me hooked on trying to unravel the mysteries of working with it. I graduated in 2001. So you can imagine the countless hours and hundreds of ruined projects started with ink and the absolute nightmare I've been putting myself through. However, I think it time well spent in the end! Still, I've tried all the mediums and for absolutely pure, blazing color with an even coating (assuming you can perfect the craft and GET an even coating) nothing beats ink. Blah, Ill stop my seminar-like rant Anyway, I'm happy with it so far and I hope my luck with it lasts the whole illustration! It'll be a good one when it's done!! -Jason
  7. Ack! It DOES look like a mirror! LOL But that kinda works too Originally, it ws going to be in color, but I live in the Mid-west and my supplier got flooded out and I dont have the right color supplies For that 1st HISS one, Im using water-color colored pencils on sketch paper (which means its almost impossible to actually wet the pigments properly) and is a pain the bum!! Not to mention they are from when I was ni college, some 10 years ago! lol Ive got three other illustrations on hold until I get my supplies in (whenever that will be). I do have a couple other tricks up my sleeve and I hope to have another ilustration up in a week or so, in color hopefully. As I am pulling out all my "reserve" supplies in an effor to keep up on the work. *sigh* -Jason
  8. Here is one I did on commission for a very nice fellow...
  9. LOL I've tried putting art up on e-bay before. But there is so much junk on e-bay they never even get looked at. Im always willing to do sales and trades and even commissions for new stuff! Just toss me an e-mail from my website: www.Rogue-Artist.com or PM me here. -Jason
  10. Here is another on I started as a practice piece. I need to get the technique down of completing the shading corretly before adding color. So I started this one as a way to do that. Penciled.... http://www.rogue-artist.com/cobra/art/HISS...ncil_prelim.jpg Then half way through putting in the shading.... http://www.rogue-artist.com/cobra/art/HISS...s_scene_ink.jpg After its all shaded I will put in the color. After this practice piece is done, I feel I can move forward on a couple of private commissions Ive taken and not botch them -Jason
  11. Thanks Capn & Jogen for your kind words I am excited to get it finished, but it won't be for at least another week before I can work on it in even the slightest bit. lol That's OK though, because I am enjoying the other stuff I am working on too! -Jason
  12. Charles! Alright Its all you bro. This is just me, following your suggestion all the way. You're the man, I can't thank you enough for all of your help! If you will be at Con on the Cobb, I hope to catch up with you! -Jason
  13. Here is one I started to give me some great practice on coloring techniques. It is on pause so that I can get a few custom jobs done for a nice gentleman. Some folks find it interesting to see concept to finish, so Ill post more as I get the time to fill it in more.... The preliminary pencils with some small amount of finalized color added.... I am trying to give it a real sense of reality. so I have decided to have the HISS armed with twin pintle-mounted 50.cal's. The Trouble bubble's main armament already looks like the MG-2 (minus barrel cover) so I don't see a need to change that. The troopers will all have soviet block weapons. I started finalizing the new AK-47 tactical version for the dude on the far right. My pride of this piece is my long hours trying to get a COBRA trooper helmet that both emulated the Cartoon and original toy look, while being made to a realistic point. Ive modeled it on paper at as many various angles as I could conceive and the beauty is that each angle should line up to each other (unlike the cartoon helmets that never would have worked if created in 3D) The preliminary pencils are not done, I make stuff up as I go. So I get bare-bones in there to place figures; but as I add the detail, I just start finishing it too. -Jason
  14. Hello, I was just looking for some constructive critisism on these.... http://www.rogue-artist.com/gallery_pages/field_agent.html http://www.rogue-artist.com/gallery_pages/snake_eyes01.html kindest regards, -Jason
