  1. Found this on Christmas eve and bought it for my son's stocking. And I have to say - damn, what a fantastic figure! 3 swords, silenced pistol, uzi, and rifle. Removable knife and interchangeable head? Yowza! I like the interchangeable head because I've always been more of a fan of the v1 look even though the v2 with visor seems to be widely more popular.

I only collect 1:6 stuff for myself these days, and I wish this figure would get a giant sized counter part. Including the changeable portrait. The few POC items I have purchased for my little one have been of the highest caliber and I must confess that I am quite impressed.

  2. The picture on the front page of the Hot Toys Indiana is amazing looking! I will most definitely be adding this to my collection.

What's the average price on a Hot Toys figure and where is the best place to buy them. I've been tempted to take the plunge for a little while and seeing there upcoming line up (Indiana Jones, 89 Batman, and Metal Gear Solid in particular) is making it hard to resist.

Hot Toys generally go from around $150 to upwards of $250ish depending on accessories and such. I usually get mine from bigbadtoystore.com or cornerstorecomics.com . Check both sites for Hot Toy listings. And, technically, you can pre-order / order from the sideshow website too. They just, generally, seem to be more expensive.

These are high end movable statue-esque collectibles and aren't anything you get on the cheap. They also seem to sky rocket on the secondary market - making it hard to impossible (read stupid expensive) to play catch up.

  3. HT put up a teaser for the Mark V on their Facebook page.

Awesome! I was wondering when we would see this armor in all it's 1/6 Glory. I have hopes that Hot Toys obtains (or has obtained) the rights to Thor, Captain America, and Green Lantern as well.

Since no company is pumping out comic accurate Marvel 12 inchers and the DCD 13" just don't do it for me, these will be the closest I get. I even like the Ghost Rider... as long as the Nic Cage head stays in the box.

  4. I used their online chat instead of email. all i gave them at the time was my order number and asked them if they will credit me back the $12 what they did was gave me like an online credit for 12 dollars which i can use when i order again from them i used that $12 to to buy a blu-ray movie.

Ah. Awesome! Wish I would have known that, but either way. I'll know it for the future. Thanks!

  5. This will be the weekend when we find out what else HT has in store for us. I'll definitely pick up Indy (and probably Jones SR. if offered) - but that would be it from those movies. As far as a Star Wars license. I'd be stoked and have to prepare to go deep in my pockets. But, if I get a Scout Trooper, Snow Trooper, and most definitely Boba Fett - I wouldn't complain.

  6. I love the replies to this announcement on the Hot Toys facebook page...little excitement for Indiana, just high hopes that a HT Star Wars line isnt far behind. CMON, IT'S INDIANA JONES!! Up yours, Star Wars.

I'm actually very excited for an Indy from Hot Toys. I had been kicking around the idea of buying the Sideshow one, but I'm glad I didn't now. Most definitely will pick up a DX Doctor Jones when he becomes available. And throw in equipment for Indy from Raiders, Temple, and Crusade.

As far as Star Wars? That actually kinds of scares me. I'm a Star Wars nut and have quite a few of the armored Star Wars characters (Vader, Troopers, Clones), but if HT picked it up I would probably go for the core cast as well. And then go utterly broke in the process.

  7. I had been tapping the shows on Wednesday and then they ran into re-runs after the Black Panther episode. Realized this week that the new episodes come on Sunday morning. I also caught the Mar-Vell episode from Saturday and this mornings. Still a great episode and really nice to see all the cameos from Marvel's who's who.

  8. Heh. I always enjoy the lists on cracked.com and try to swing by the website on occasions for a good chuckle or two. Yes, they are picking on children's toys aimed at children. And that, in it self, explains why Spider-Man needs a four-wheeler, Flash needs a motorcycle, or Superman a flying car. But the humor is in taking the characters "seriously" and then trying to explain the accessories as if it showed up in a comic book, cartoon, or movie. Might be a bit of an eye-raiser.

Of course this type of ironic taking things literal type of humor has a very dry undertone to it. And that's what I enjoy. As for the language? I didn't even notice the excessive use of it when I read through the article. But, then again, I did spend many MANY years as a waiter and become desensitized to foul language that would make a sailor blush and other horrifically offensive slurs.

  9. I so want to get these as a gift but tomorrow is coming and the stuff from Matty. If that price is there tomorrow I will get it.

Man where is our Christmas bonus????

EDIT - went to bite the bullet and nothing, they were sold out. They should have that advertised. These would of been gifts to people I wasn't going to get anything for, oh well, it would of been nice.

They sold out fast enough unadvertised. This would have been a blink and they are gone special if they had actually advertised it.

  10. Gah! I LOVE Logan being there with the Joes! (lol) I don't know why that strikes me as being so cool, but it does.

I agree. But both Logan and Snake Eyes? Kind of makes the other Joes unnecessary.

  11. Deadpool/Warpath is back in stock on TRU.com for those that still have yet to find them. Can't tell if you'll get the variant or normal one still.

The one I found has the variant figures shown in the picture. I really don't want to take the gamble and end up with another one of these. Checked a local TRU again tonight and no regular versions. Sheesh. I've probably seen 15 - 20 variants, but not a single Redpool.

  12. Jeffro, check out the packages of your 1:6 SW figures and see who "helped" out with those figures.

Sideshow products have reached a point where the money spent does not match the quality and with the exception of the armored figures (which were basically made with HT technology) there 1:6 products have shown no improvement whatsoever.

I just recently sold off all my SSC 1:6 Star Wars collection and none of them sold for the price I paid for them. So what I'm saying is you're looking to save money check out eBay for your SSC SW figures.

Oh, I noticed the Hot Toys logo on the side. And I've picked up all, minus 3, of my Sideshow figures on the 'bay. It seems Vader and Stormtroopers are the highest selling commodity - if the seller sets a high BIN price. But I've picked up mine much cheaper by watching auctions and not getting over zealous with price. And the others I picked up have been from BBTS when they run 15% - 20% sales on older stock. The new Blackhole Stormtrooper just came in from the armored SW collection, but I am going to wait and snag a much cheaper one in a month or two when the hype dies down.

Unfortunately (or fortunately - all relative), I have noticed that Hot Toys only seem to raise in value. I really wanted a Wolverine, but it doesn't sell for any less than $250 - $300. Same for Iron Man Mark I - III or Dark Knight Batman. All figures I would pick up, but can't justify the market value they go for.

  13. I have several of the Sideshow 1:6 Star Wars figures (Vader, Stormtrooper, a few Clones - only armored characters) and decided this was the way I wanted my collection to go. I have been slowly selling off all of my 1:18 and 1:12 scale stuff and using these funds to slowly, but surely, build up a 1:6 collection. I also received my first Hot Toys figure last week: IM2 War Machine. And all I can say is WOW. What an amazing figure.

The only down side to to these large figures is the cost, which equates to a much smaller and more focused collection. With so many property licenses owned by Sideshow and Hot Toys it is difficult to figure out the ones I really want.
