  1. The Republic Gunship had been put out under many different colors/designs and under the AOTC, Clone Wars, and ROTS. Any chance we will be seeing these again any time soon (especially since you are going to re-release the 'Hunt for Grievous' pack)?

  2. It's not a "I hate Hasbro" thread...if you think that, then you obviously didn't read the first message.

Mad about the WalMart wave?? Don't have any WalMarts near you? Bummer...I found them all, incluidng the variants, and an extra set for a friend , in one store.

    Oh, sorry...that sounds like gloating...

    @firedevil@

I have around 6-7 Wal-Marts in a 60ish mile radius (hence the "SO MANY Wal-Marts in my area comment") from me (I can hit 3 or 4 in under an hour drive) and I never saw them. But, no big deal. I can slowly grab them for double the cost off of E-bay. But grats on finding that many could have just been my area.

And maybe I.. mid-read your statement. I apologize for any offense taken. I was just merely pointing out I miss collectors sharing a common interest, but this message board tends to be littered with so much spite and angst. But I was just figuring from the: "So far in '07, HASBRO has only given us two (2) friggin' waves", "instead, we get two (2) mediocre HML waves..." that you were unhappy with Hasbro, which sparked this thread.

  3. Don't get it twisted...CAT has the whole Toybiz run on all the ML scale releases (you're missing foil Silver Surfer right?) I've seen her collection, and believe me when I say; IT'S NICE! And, I don't even like MOC collections!!!

Right, I know that. What I was inquiring to is does she drive to Brick and Mortar establishments or just snag them up quickly (and sometimes expensively) on the internet? She showed pictures of her collection in another thread and its amazing. Even more so amazing is the fact she lives roughly 15 min or less from me and I will never personally see it.

  4. I'm still confused... these characters are totally not Marvel, correct?

Completely not Marvel. From the way I understand it (and I can be completely off), Marvel owns Toybiz or somesuch and I suppose Toybiz just decided to change their name to 'Marvel Toys'.. oddly enough AFTER they no longer had the Marvel Comic license and then start selling Image/Top Cow/etc.. toys. Although, for what its worth.. Conan was published by Marvel at one time and got his ass handed to him by Wolverine in a 'What if?' issue.

  5. Yay! You started another 'I hate Hasbro so I'll make another thread' topic.. Toy Biz had the series for 5 years (2002-2006) and put out 16 waves - thats around 3 1/5 wave a year. Hasbro is currently running at close to 1 every 3 months, which would grant around 4 this year. And those are figures YOU want, I would assume. I wouldn't mind some while others I would never ever had a burning urge for. I could blame Hasbro for not making my top 10, but what is the point in that?

In 5 years we saw X-Men/Urban Legends/Sinister Six/Fearsome Foes/House of M/Young Avengers/Monsters box sets - somehow I doubt we would have already seen 3 or 4 box sets by now.

Face Offs - Yeah, maybe. But they were sparsely distributed ( I only saw Wave 2) and every single one I saw had horrible paint applications. They were a neat concept, but I got tired of having to buy a hero I already have 15 of to get a brand new villain.

BAFs - Again. You're choosing BAFs you want.

SMC/XMC - Yeah, that I will give you, but that still means wading through 10 more Wolverines/Spider-Men to find a new villain.

Wal-Mart wave? Yeah, I'm still mad about that. I have SO MANY Wal-Marts in my area and never saw a one. And you can tell at the low distribution, but how much the avg one goes for on e-bay. Not to mention, I finally snagged a bearded Sentry for $14 shipped and when I popped the clam shell his right arm.. fell off. >.< Oh. And last but not least... I need a VARIANT to complete the BAF?! Sheesh.

Toy Biz had its fair share of fugly sculpts, horrible over the top paint washes (why does Cylclops look like he rolled around in the mud?), odd costume choices, movie figure inclusions, spotty distribution, long gap between waves, etc. But you have to weigh the good with the bad. HML1: Ultimate Iron Man, Hercules, Planet Hulk (Yeah, he was mostly a revamped War Hulk - but I never got that). HML2: She-Hulk, Yellowjacket, Thor, Xorn, Quicksilver. I liked most of Toy Biz stuff and I'm enjoying a good portion of Hasbro's stuff. Whining and making fun of other people is neither productive or a proper way to handle yourself around fellow enthuiast of the general hobby.

This board has turned into a Civil War in-upon itself. Those who are fighting change both tooth and nail and those who are ready to accept the good with the bad and see what the future brings. Obviously, we all like the Toy Biz stuff... or we wouldn't be on here talking about it.

  6. Now, never bashing another collector for what they spend or how they spend. First off - kudos on the catch. However, what I'm curious about: why didn't you wait to find these? The Cage/Psylocke variant - yeah, never gonna get those anywhere else and I get the logic behind it. And again just out of curiosity (no offense, please) - do you search brick and mortar stores or do you just do online stores and auctions?

  7. Don't forgot Death's Head first made his appearance in Marvel Transformers comics and then became a character in the normal Marvel U.

And if GI Joe had been officially in the actual Marvel U Cobra would have amounted to about the same as Hydra, the Hand, or AIM. Not to mention why need GI Joe when you have SHIELD around..? Although, GI Joe members being SHIELD agents could have been.. interesting.

  8. I tend to be a little dense sometimes and just to double.. double check. I only live maybe 30-45 min from there so I won't need the travel/room etc. Do I have to fill out that form or can I just waltz up to the front door that weekend, pay, and slide on in? And do I need to fill out the form for a convention exclusive or can I just buy it there? Treat me like I'm 5. Explain it slowly and with tiny words preferably. :D

  9. dammit! i missed out! looks like the prices went back up, or am i missing a coupon code? shoot!!

The 75% banner is still there at the first page, but all of the Marvel items (Box sets, Face-Off, Legends) all seem to have gone back to the original price. Sorry buddy. You missed out. It was automatically applied - no coupon.

  10. Didn't fans constantly bash Toy Biz?

I guess the only bashing TB got from us was the legendary riders series. Aside from that, TB had a great acceptances among the collector community.

Er... I can go back 100 pages or so and find MANY more complaints on Toy Biz than just the Legendary Riders. Complaints of joints sticking and or being extremely loose. Gripes of hard time find figures from low case rate to odd distribution. Toy Biz was bitched about just as much when they had the line.

  11. Awesome. I just picked up: Kingpin vs Daredevil, Hulk vs Leader, Captain America vs Red Skull all for $25 shipped. Best part is I was sitting on $50 in merchandise credit waiting on something good to blow it on. And here it is. Thanks for the tip.

  12. I'll just through out the basic ditto except for that the only one I will probably buy is the black Spider-Man. But, I'm not a huge fan of movie figures in general. I just hope that when this wave drops another is right ahead or close behind. I have plenty of 616 spots to fill without this to slow it down.

  13. This has become the longest running pissing contest I have quite possibly seen. Ever. Not to try and burst in on the psychological/philosophical/morale fiber/ethical battle of wits - but I believe Capitalism has done one thing and one thing only. It hijacked this thread several pages ago. A thread devoted to defacing Hasbro for not answering questions about upcoming and future issues that are probably not readily known to the PR guys writing to QA sessions on the intraweb. I found the newest Shortpacked to be very much insightful to the problem of ambiguous questions.

I appreciate the humor found from the capitalism vs sociology debate, but its gone way off key and becoming less about the fight and more about being pretentious because I'm still wondering how the state of third world countries economy deals with Hasbro not telling us what boxsets we will see next year.

  14. So far neither the all Spidey wave, all FF wave, nor the 2 all Hulk waves have been announced. And honestly, if its a couple Hulk waves then why Fing Fang Foom (who I would like to have, don't get me wrong)? FFF wasn't ever really a Hulk villain. These waves all look neat, but I really wouldn't want 3-4 Hulks in two waves (if there are two in the first half... then I would assume we get another 1 or 2 in the second half).

I'll just wait till SDCC and see what there is to see.

  15. But Toybiz wasn't paying royalties. That alone would up the price somewhat in Hasbro's case. Hence why Joes are a few bucks cheaper single packed than Star Wars figures and at the same size/articulation/accessories. I think the point is throwing out the word Greed when in conjunction with a company. Seems kind of silly. Trying to make more money? What ever was a multi-billion dollar corporation thinking?

  16. I have now seen a case of two Wal-Marts within two days. First was in Ellijay where all they had left was Wolverine, Yellowjacket, and Xorn. I found the entire wave (and snagged the other 5) at Wal-Mart in Kennesaw off of 41. And the Kennesaw Wal-Mart was stocked last night - the racks were empty yesterday.

  17. Am I the only one not believing a word of this?

    Im with yous... :o

If he is lying - it doesn't affect me. If he isn't - still not affected. I won't loose any sleep tonight because someone found variants. I've found 3 Red Skulls in my day personally. Never seen a Golden Iron Man, but I jumped into MLs after Series II. This may be over a month back, but.. congrats? And its nice to see a current thread in the Marvel toys forums that doesn't consist of someone trying to lynch Hasbro.

And if nothing else... I have a new place to check for stashed items. Honestly, if it weren't for stashers I wouldn't have found most of my variants and chase figures. I always check top racks and behind items.

  18. I'm really liking the way the set is shaping up to be. Sure we may not be getting 14 Mandalorians, but I wasn't to trilled about getting 14 different colored Fetts using the same Jango, Boba and Vintage Boba bodies anyway. Now if they would only do an SA Jango I would be happy.

Damn skippy I want a SA Jango and Darth Maul (but thats neither here nor there for this set). Jango needs to get some new love and get a 14 POA figure that can rough it up with the Jedi scum.
