  1. I can see why there would be an element of skepticism over whether or not these are JP figures. I actually wanted some verification of what they are myself. I was lucky enough to get my first archer figure roughly a year ago. When I did, I really wanted to figure out exactly what it was instead of just putting it out there and letting speculation drown out the actual answer. Luckily, Joecon 2012 was right around the corner. At Joecon, we had the archer and sniper (with Zanzibar head) in the Joe Declassified booth. There, we were able to talk with Hasbro to make sure what we had. Keep in mind that the JP "Firefly" figures, the JP tattooed mercenary, and test shots with Mercer's head had all already shown up online and were definitely JP. The tattooed Duke/Roadblock and "Firefly" figures even have the JP logo on them. We had the figures there on display for everyone to take a look. What we got back was confirmation that heads used in the Dreadnok and Renegades sets were created for the JP toyline. This is further substantiated by the SDCC sketchbook that links the Zanzibar head with a dinosaur. (That image is also significant because it features the Adventure Team logo and my first archer came with an AT head). Since the first few that showed up were just a mix of previous parts, I have to wonder what else we still have not seen. Anyway, I am getting sidetracked. You can see in the comparison shot I took to Burnout that this is not just a simple head swap. And we were able to confirm the JP origins from Hasbro in person (as well as the Mercer test shots found). I didn't get any other details about what others may have looked like or anything like that. But we can put to rest where these came from. And the Cobra logo is not important in this case since it is also present on the JP Firefly figures...and those have JP logos as well. The Cobra logo is covered by the vest anyway so the figures still work since it is hidden. I am looking forward to Joecon again this year since it is always fun to talk with each other about this fun stuff.
  2. I also take any news that isn't from an official source with a grain of salt. I also compare the leaks and proto information to the film industry. There is no doubt that people are constantly trying to get movie info leaked and I would say that most of the time, that is a bad thing. Small bits taken out of context can really sway everyone's opinion before the final product even has a chance to be finished. So the "news" needs to be socially responsible. I also think that part of the fun should be the preproduction material and that not enough is shown in the action figure world. It is pretty commonplace for a film to show you how it was done on the DVD. It really doesn't ruin the mystery for me anymore but instead gives me more insight and appreciation for the final work. The same could be said for action figures, but the companies that make them just aren't taking advantage of fan interest in behind the scenes material. I loved the sketchbook from San Diego Comicon 2008. I hope they do another. And it would be amazing if we could get one specifically for the Joe con with all sorts of sketches done for the 25th line. So I grasp onto anything I can get prior to the release of a Joe. Later on, it means I am able to go back and see what was different. I end up enjoying those changes. And as crazy as it sounds, I have seen a few examples (that escape me now) in 2008 where the final product had more detail than the original. Improvements happen.
  3. Still no question at 6:01. (just checking board time with this post)
  4. Thanks for the welcome. I'm not around as much online as I once was and just happened across this thread and thought I would put in my 2 cents because I heard it straight from them. I'm definitely not mixing up the two. At the writers panel, I was going to stand up and ask myself, but someone beat me to it. The question was asked about Colonel Sharp without any mention of Sector 7 and they answered about Sharp specifically.
  5. Actually, Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci were asked this at the Botcon panel. They said they "had G.I. Joe in mind" as they wrote it, but said that they can't commit to it being G.I.Joe. In other words: yes.
