  1. Yea, I know, I just wanted to add that it's damn shame. It's a huge loss to the action genre especially with no one really that great taking his place (including Tony Jaa and with Jackie Chan doing hits and misses all the time). I'm only half excited to watch this film. Just going by the mythos and TV series that I've seen of this tale, I hope they don't make it too stupid looking with the make-up. Jet Li with a monkey costume on? It's making me hesitant. I like the team-up of Li and Chan though.
  2. I've seen the last 10 a while back, and you really do wish there was more. Jack will be back for at least one of the movies, and I hope it's a big role. RDA is still SG-1 to me.
  3. Topless beach photos of her have been around for a long time, so it's not really THAT exciting if she's gonna show her boobs on film. Hopefully, she'll be doing jumping or running involved in some sex scene while topless.
  4. # Dirt Music (2008) (pre-production) .... Georgie # The Lady from Shanghai (2008) (pre-production) # Sin City 2 (2008) (pre-production) (rumored) .... Ava Lord # The Colossus (2007) (pre-production) .... Olive Schreiner # The Brothers Bloom (2008) (filming) That's the current listing for Rachel's upcoming films from IMDB. Nothing spectacular, except maybe SC2. I guess they waited around way too long (Mummy 2 came out in 2001) to do this sequel and it probably is just bad timing that she wasn't available. Brendan Fraser is reportedly getting a nice big paycheck for Mummy 3, and I'm sure she was offered a substantial sum as well for a repeat had she been available. I doubt any of the above listed films woulda paid her the money Mummy 3 would've/could've. Also, Jet Li has officially signed on to play the villian in the latest installment of Mummy. I thought Jet Li was done with action movies??? I guess money can change things! LOL I'm not feeling him right now in a Mummy movie but lets see what his character is suppose to be? Jet Li isn't done with action movies. When fearless came out, he was already signed to do a movie with Jack Chan based on the Monkey King story(a chinese myth that inspired Dragonball.) He is goin to be the Monkey King. As for that he will never do a movie after fearless, I think it meant that he will no longer do movies based on real ppl in China. From what I've read and heard, he's done with the Chinese "period epics". Basically those old and ancient time Chinese stories with hardcore martial arts, IE. Once Upon A Time in China, Fong Sai Yuk, Tai Chi Master and the like. Why? I don't know. Especially with most of his modern time movies... well.... generally sucking. His period films have mostly been great and it's something Chinese cinema needs more of that are of high quality. Especially considering what he can bring to the table (admittedly, he is getting old so I can understand). It's really a shame he's not part of the two really big period films that are coming up. There are two movies (one is "The Battle of Red Cliff" - with John Woo and Chow Yun Fat attached) that are based around "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" stories. For those unfamiliar, they are epic (that's not even a strong enough word) period films that are highly anticipated. The other is called "Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon", which has a pretty impressive cast in Maggie Q, Andy Lau, Sammo Hung and Leon Lai. Being a fan of the stories, mythos and video games, I expect both movies to kick some serious butt.
  5. Really? I thought it was pretty good... but yeah I don't like it as much as most people do! I am looking forward to a next one anyhow! Yea, I guess you have to be a fan of the comic to really like it. To me it was boring and low-budget with little to no redeeming values.
  6. Halle Berry's hot and all, but there's tons of hot-looking black chicks out there who could've pull off Storm. It's not like her lines or acting were all that great anyway. So with that in mind, no more spin-offs or single X-Man universe movies. Just make another X-Men TEAM trilogy or two. The series and franchise is a gold mine. If they really want to make a spin-off, make a movie with the X-Factor team, starring Havok and Polaris. That'd be sweet.
  7. A sequel? The first one sucked badly, and bored me to no end. I guess you can't go anywhere but up for this movie franchise.
  8. Pretty good point. I find alot of the DC characters are pretty obscure and forgetable outside the major JL founding members (from the animated series). I'm not a huge DC fan (outside the animated stuff and few live movies), but I wasn't aware that GA was that popular. Aside from Superman and Batman (and maybe Green Lantern), I could really care less about the DC Universe.
  9. Too bad it's not War Machine.
  10. Is that article right? It says she turned down a role with Susan Sarandon in "Anywhere But Here", but IMDB has her listed as in the cast. Hell, even the DVD cover has her in it. So what's the deal?

  12. The only think I hope for is that the movie is 3 hours long.
  13. I hope it'll be better than the last one with Brainiac. Didn't Superman kick Doomday's ass already in the JLU series?
  14. I don't think it spells box office death as a certainty. Spiderman's organic webshooters anyone? Mary Jane (or rather, it should've been Gwen Stacy) living through the end of the first movie. Every Marvel and DC movie has played with the origins in one way or another. Some more disastrously than others. At any rate, if Hawk started off in this movie as a Lt. Colonel or Colonel, I might be able to believe that he would be in the field. After reading and watching so many other military shows, movies and comics, it hard for me to believe they would let a general go into the field. That's is if realism is to take any part of this movie. Hell, the movie could start off with Hawk leading a mission for the explosive opening of the movie and be moved up the chain of command by midway of the movie if one wants to establish Hawk as a character who wanted to be in the field. There are many ways to handle Hawk's role and his role as leader. Duke will almost assurredly be in the forefront of the movie (more marketable character). Of course, they could always go the route of Hawk still being the field commander, and have Duke be the maverick second-in-command.

    lost

Yea, the good thing is, not much has happened so even if you've missed the last 4 episodes, you're still not missing much. Download them if you can. They might be available for viewing on ABC's site. And also, ABC has been showing two episodes on air night, the previous week's episode and the new episode at its new time: 10PM EST.
  16. Hell, I'd be happy if they animated the stories from the Marvel run of the GI Joe comics. Off hand, in the last 15-some-odd years, the more interesting toons to me have been to me: Batman: The Animated Series (not the slop that's on now with that freak'd out Joker), Superman: TAS, JLA/JLU, Beast Wars and War Planets. Even that Spiderman toon wasn't all bad. While most of the origin stories (for example) weren't totally new to me, it was still interesting to watch them in animated from. Even some of the new Fantastic Four toon episodes piques my interests in the same way. The same can be said about all the comics turned live action movies of today: Spiderman, Batman, Superman, X-Men, Blade.... We all know the story/origins, but yet, we still flock to the theaters. And neither the toons nor the movies have been always 100% accurate to the source material, and in some cases that's OK. Or at the very least, we lived with it. So with all that being said, Hasbro (or whoever) has 100+ issues of stories and a decade or so of history to tell. The origin of SE, SS, Serpentor, CC, GI Joe, Cobra, Nightcreepers, Dreadnoks.... all of this back story to fill in the gaps inbetween a little humor, a little artistic license, and whatever else they wanna throw in. Tie it in with the invasion of Cobra Island (a few times) or the liberation of some Middle Eastern country (for example), and we good to go.
  17. Wrong. I'm familiar with the character of Hawk. But that's not to say, in this instance, in this operation, in this movie, Hawk isn't in a command and control position. This way, we can have a good actor who's well-known in the picture, and he probably wouldn't cost that much given his limited screen time. That money saved can go to more characters (there should be a limit for the main guys 4-8 at most, plus a few cameos), more good actors in the action parts or SFX or whatever. Besides which, you just know the focus is gonna be on Duke and Snake-Eyes anyway.
  18. Stalker? Can't go wrong with Samuel L. Jackson. See those Cobras? Waste the mother@!$#&*! Another possible Duke: William Fichtner, here in "Black Hawk Down" as SFC. Sanderson. He can currently be seen in the hit Fox show, "Prison Break". While I agree, both Tommy Lee Jones and Ed Harris aren't picture perfect to be Hawk, they are good actors and Hawk, a General, wouldn't be in an operation anyway. He'd be back at a command center with Mainframe and Breaker. But here's some pics anyway: Tommy Lee Jones in "Rules of Engagement" Ed Harris (center) in "The Rock" as Brigadier General Francis X. Hummel, United States Marine Corp..

    DTC series 4

Just for my edification, where there any RAH reissues (figures or vehicles) with this Wave 4? Hell, are there any planned for 2007? I've been out of the loop for a while.
  20. I agree, Wahlberg doesn't really look like a leader, though, that could be that he's usually a supporting cast member all the time. I would nominate Jack Bauer, AKA Keifer Sutherland. If he told you to drop your weapon, you damn well better listen. They also mention Hawk as being one of the main characters [as well as Snake-Eyes]. For Hawk, I would mind seeing Tommy Lee Jones (Rules of Engagement) or Ed Harris (The Rock).
  21. Well it doesn't have much competition, so that's working in its favor. At least none that I know of. And it does look mildly funny from some of the clips I've seen. This is a "highly likely" to catch on DVD for me.
  22. Yup, already got my FREE ticket from Best Buy last week. Anyone else snatch that up? How was this accomplished? Do tell...

  24. Thought I'd chime in as a fellow NYC Joe fan. Great stuff as usual. The sets are just awesome. Little details like laptop computers (and with something on the display no less) and such really adds to the realism. Question though: The last line, "as they grow weaker, you grow stronger", did you hear/read that somewhere or did you just make that up? It seems vaguely familiar (Punisher comics, maybe)? Cleaver indeed. May never seemed more far away.

    Moth 4 Pics

You know, from Hasbro and/or TRU... some kind of 6-pack for $20 bucks. Doubtful, I know, since alot of good stuff never got released outside MC (HISS 2, STUN).
