  1. This is the movie section, so a topic here is fine. I did all of the puzzles on the site only to be told to wait until August 1st. That was a big nothing, and since it's a January-release movie, it probably isn't expected to be a big blockbuster by the studio. So far it's all hype. The only thing I know is that I read it's not a sequel or a remake. Several ideas bumped around for it are that it's Godzilla, Voltron, Dragonball, or a movie about the demon God Cthulu. I guess we'll find out more August first.
  2. I see MGS4 likely ending up like the other MGS games and eventually ending up on MS's console down the road. They would be silly not to. That's a lot of money they would lose out on. Not everyone has both a PS3 and a 360. Price drop or not, that's still a lot of money to dump into a system. But oh well. Time will tell. MGS2: Substance was a flop on XBox, which is why Konami has been reluctant to support MS systems for it's flagship title. All XBox fanboys did was whine about how Splinter Cell had better graphics and ripped down MGS. If it sells well on PS3, then I doubt Konami will release it on the 360.
  3. The problem is that there are just too many good movies worth seeing this summer. It's hard to keep up with every movie I want to see, which is a first in quite a long time. A lot of movies that deserve big earnings are gonna do OK, but won't make as much as they could have because they're all released too close together.
  4. They had the snow serpent all this time, and didn't use it????? Bad, Hasbro! Quit holding back on us, man!

    Doc

It's definitely not a replacement to the original, but I do think it would go well with the original as a field medic.
  6. Patience! They're plagued by Hasbro's poor distribution like everything else Hasbro releases.
  7. The book is easily the most boring out of all the HP books. Most of it is just them training or them sitting around talking about Voldy in the secret house. There wasn't a lot to work with beyond the battle at the ministry's office in the end. For all things considered, I think they did a good job. I didn't like the ending re-written though. Sirius wasn't killed in the book. He fell into the hole, where no one returns and he is presumed dead. In the next book Potter accepts he's dead even though he doesn't know for sure.
  8. It looks like the price cut helped keep it PS3 exclusive. This reall yis th eonly next-gen game that currently interests me. It's cool that they finally made Raiden into a bad-ass, as well as seeing Vamp's return.
  9. Nice! I knew my patience with not getting the Takara version would be rewarded.
  10. Eh......to me the biggest downer is the females, which are once again messed up. Scarlett is an improvement over the original, but the Baroness is messed up. Hasbro does use different plastic now. PCV is cheaper and easier to mold than ABS is. The fact that it's not as brittle is only a secondary bonus. PVC does have the benefit of being able to hold details better, as we see in 1/18 figures like the BBI figures, but Hasbro won't push for that level of detail for the Joes. My only real complaint is that for unpainted faces, they tend to look opaque instead of like actual flesh.
  11. 1. It is my opinion that it is a crap list. It is your opinion that is not. Get over it instead of taking cheap shots because I am a mod, as if that has anything to do with my right to have an opinion (it doesn't). Welcome to free speech where everyone has a right to an opinion. 2. The Colossus of Rhodes was a bronze statue with a wood inner frame. The Leshan giant is a massive piece of rock. The Colossus is praised because of the engineering complexity of building a massive statue with two feet touching two cliffsides over a river, which even now is difficult. No one even knows what it looks like, even though there's good speculation. It's the engineering that put it on the list. 3. If the Mexican pyramid got more votes, it was because more people voted for it. Even though I see your point about the redudancy of having the last original of the 7 wonders on the list in the first place. 4. The Panama Canal is a massive piece of engineering greater than any of the original or new 7 wonders. Engineering is what made the originals so unique, and when you look at the original 7 wonders in terms of engineering and architectural achievements, the Panama Canal should definitely be on the list. Artistically, it's plain and boring though, so I have no love for it. It's just that it's scope, complexity, and in the time it was made in without modern equipment that we have now makes it a huge achievement.
  12. Exactly, and that simply doesn't make good business sense. What about online exclusives? Hasbro has done that before.
  13. how wouldn't it pass the laws? bc of the smokestacks, which were shortened for the us release of mp prime. Hasbro releases parts and accessories all the time that are longer than the smokestacks. I think it's more likely that they shortened the smokestacks because of Hasbro's infamous "drop test" to see if it's durable enough for kids to play with. But it is Hasbro, and only Hasbro knows for sure.
  14. @loll@ @loll@ @loll@ It always happens with employees getting stuff before it even hits the pegs. I remember seeing a video of the XBox 360 when it first launched. One Wal-Mart where the video was taken had gotten in two dozen of them, and the manager said they only had two dozen. BEFORE it went on sale that number was cut in half to 12, then right before it went on sale, the manager announced that it was sold out.
  15. I don't have a link, but the news is pretty much everywhere. There's actually an E3 going on right now, for which surprised the hell out of me. I thought E3 was dead, and at the least, it's always been in May in the past. Anyway, the PS3 is $499 effective immediately, but Sony being Sony, has already announced an 80Gb model for $599.
  16. I wasn't being rude. You only took offense because one of the things I don't see as unnecessary for being on the list is oin your own back yard. It was a popularity contest, for which the public VOTED on it here: http://www.new7wonders.com/ The voting is over, but it does still say "See the results of the first ever global election." The Eiffel tower and Statue of Liberty were both choices that didn't get enough votes. The Buddhists haven't done any better than the Aztecs? Find me something similar to Leshan Giant or the great wall before you say that. Once again, your preference biases your subjectivity. http://www.new7wonders.com/index.php?id=633 Do you find it interesting that the Mexican pyramid got more votes than the Egyptian pyramid, knowing the Egyptian pyramids are the originals that came much sooner? It was a loaded poll in which people voted on favorites, not on subjectivity; people just like you who vote for what's in your back yard and what you identify with instead of looking at the big picture. There were only 21 choices to choose from, and many things that a normal person would assume to be on that list were never there, like the Nazca lines, Leshan giant, etc..
  17. But mp figs aren't geared towards kids anyway (too expensive, as you've mentioned), and some of us older fans might like mp's from bw..honestly for me I wouldn't go past that as everything else is still too new. I don't see what's not definitve about the best megatron ever: beast wars megatron! Not to mention primal, rhinox, dinobot, etc.. That's the point. Or at least it should be. Hasbro always comes along and shortens smokestacks and messes up weapons for the kids, even on the $80 MP Optimus. That's hardly hasbro's fault; they're simply obeying the law. If they want their toys on the shelves, they have to conform to toy laws. I realize most kids aren't going to beg their 'rents for an anniv. prime, but it's still considered a toy. That is Hasbro's fault. Those laws only apply if Hasbro wants to sell it on Wal-Mart shelves next to toys that kids can buy. If it were sold as a collectible they can do whatever they want, but they can't sell it on the same shelves were kid's toys are sold. Between the hoops they'd have to jump through just for the gun laws, I don't ever expect it to get a US release. Orange tip = legal. It's just that places like Wal-Mart won't take it because it's a gun. Hasbro would have to sell it itself or through specialty stores, for which I doubt they'd want to do.
  18. 19. Adding "inspired by" songs is a good way for a label to coat-tail successful bands and potentially successful soundtracks by tagging on unknowns they'd like to promote. It gives them exposure small unknown bands can't buy at any price. It makes sense except for the drawback that most of the songs used in the movie (through BUmblebee) are not even on the soundtrack.
  20. It's a crap list. There I said it again. It's my opinion and you are free to like the list as it is for all I care; I don't. It was based on voting, so it was based on popularity, and misses the spirit of what makes something monumental in the original 7 wonders. Sorry for my bluntness, but you only like the Mexican entry as a Mexican. That biases your subjectivity. What the Aztecs did in 1400 AD is no more impressive than what the Egyptians did in 3500 BC. Everything on my list is something truely monumental, truely unique, and truely unmistakable.
  21. It's a crap list that has more to do with favorites than what makes a monument something truely epic. Here it is: Chichén Itzá, Mexico Christ Redeemer, Brazil The Great Wall, China Machu Picchu, Peru Petra, Jordan The Roman Colloseum, Italy The Taj Mahal, India I think it' lame and misses out on truely significant monuments that aren't far from what made the original 7 wonders so famous. Here's my list that I think more encompasses the spirit of the originals: 1. Angkor Wat/Angkor Thom, Cambodia 2. Petra, Jordan 3. The Great Wall, China/North Korea/Mongolia 4. The Pantheon, Rome 5. Leshan Giant, largest Buddha statue (232 feet), China 6. Stonehenge, the UK 7. Panama Canal, built by the US/owned by Panama. Anyone else have a list?
  22. I think MP is G1 because G1 fans are older, and are willing and able to spend more $$$ on a TF than some kid who's into a newer series can.
  23. Hasbro's response will no doubt be their classic "boys don't like female characters" BS.
  24. Why are expecting realism? They had to "base" vehicles on others because for one thing it helps rationalize the messed-up scale, and it helps Habro's anti-military element happy with not promoting real military vehicles with the Joes.
  25. I have to agree. The toys fall way short of their movie counterparts, and seem rushed to me. Frency in particular looks like they didn't know how to make a toy version so they just did whatever to make him a radio.
