  1. I've set a limit on myself to at least get 5 (since there always seems to be at least five stormtroopers in a Death Star hallway per shot), but so far I've only got two. Both of them are guarding VOTC Vader (like he needs protecting )
  2. The frame I used in that one pic was from Dark Empire, where Boba Fett makes his EU debut. All the Nar Shaada sequences in the comic were in a wash out tan and blue, but it's one of my favorite sequences in Kennedy's stint, hence the reason why I went as far as to make Fett an extra gun to match his Dark Empire one. I personally prefer the Death, Lies, and Treachery look, which if you put up against the figure, isn't too far off in terms of color. If he wasn't neon green, he was pink >.> I would've scanned a frame from my Bounty on Barkooda comic (part 1 of the Death, Lies, and Treachery series), but I didn't want to mess it up from on my scanner. The Dark Empire clip came from a Star Wars Galaxies special that was given to me a little beat up, so I could afford to mash into my scanner. I must apologize for the pics. I'm not very good with this digital camera. Thankfully though, one of my photography friends is going to help me re-shoot the pictures to submit to Rebelscum, so next time it won't look all wonky from me having to filter fix the pics.
  3. I defiled a VOTC Boba Fett to get a figure that I've been waiting YEARS for. You can see it over in the customs page http://adctalk.com/index.php?act=ST&f=15&t=1976149
  4. Finally! Insurance covered my Dremel (which was fried by Hurricane Charley), so I'm back from the dead! And to make this custom suit the occasion, I picked a character that also managed to rise from the dead. I love Star Wars figures, particularly the Expanded Universe figures. It was a huge bummer for me (though I'm still extremely greatful that it happened) to see the Dark Empire figures not live up to their comic book adaptations, especially since the figures came with comic book backgrounds that made them seem out of place :? So with the advent of the VOTC figures, I decided to rectify that problem, and at the same time get a figure I've always wanted. Nearly 6 years after RoTJ, Han and Leia head to Nar Shaada in an attempt to track a now Dark Side-loyal Luke. On the moon surface, Han stops into his old aparment to contact some friends and pull some strings, and stumbles into one of the best surprises in the Star Wars universe at the time: Boba Fett wasn't dead. Standing before him, plain as day, Boba Fett brandished a new rifle, looking more of a mess than ever, with Dengar at his side. Cam Kennedy gave the bounty hunter a feel that to this day I don't think any other Star Wars illustrator has accomplished (IMHO). Using the VOTC Boba Fett (sacrilege!), I sanded down Boba's helmet, belt, and jetpack head, resculpted the belt and added more defined fins to the jetpack, repositioned the the jet thrusters, and lastly, modified the bounty hunter's pre-existing pistols. Kennedy changed Fett's guns twice over his stint on the Star Wars comics, so I made his Dark Empire gun out of a spare VOTC rifle and a broken RC Car antennae, and the other gun out of the 300th Fett's spare pistol. The big problem came replicating the colors of the comics. Yah, I managed to make the design look right, but a lot of the mood set in Kennedy's work is made with the lighting and colors, and that was going to be a pain. I decided on Boba Fett's look from the one shot comics, which was usually a bright green with pink/magenta shadows for low light. I would've like to do a chameleon paint effect to it, but that was scrapped when I learned that the effects are not permanent. So I settled for some Apple Barrel flourescents. Knowing how thin and unreliable neon paints are, I took advantage of it. I sprayed the figure lightly with primer, then painted 2 coats of a neon green/yellow mix before washing it with a neon pink. The light application gave the spottled dirty mess of Boba Fett's attire the look I wanted, and then it was off to sealing. It actually came out better than I though ultimately. When the figures sitting in more light deprived rooms, the colors more resemble the Dark Empire colors, while the black light brings out the full effect of the neon paints. And here's some random fun with the pictures.
  5. Two things you can do: 1. Submit your pictures to TNI's customs section, where your work will be posted 2. Employ the use of the image storage site. I myself use www.photobucket.com to store all of my images.
  6. Yah, my Fett is like that too. It's odd, but he stands so well that I don't really care.
  7. http://www.deviantart.com/view/11374127/ Took me about 4 hours between classes and work.
  8. -Dr. Evazan and Ponda Baba. As much as they keep re-releasing these figures, neither of them have been fixed to reflect the proper proportioning or details that are now prevalent in the current run of figures. Bo Shek and Evazan have the exact same gun, and yet the cantina set Evazan came with that goofy original one! -I definitely agree with Wedge and Piett. Let's throw a Biggs in there as well though. -Admiral Ackbar. He's been ignored for far too long. Give that fish-man some knee joints and his command chair! -Ishi Tib. We never were really treated to a Jabba's Palace version in this line. -Death Star Trooper and Death Star Gunner. C'mon. the last time we saw either was what, '97/'98? Both deserve new figures, especially the Death Star Trooper. Those guys were up their with Stormtrooper for most Imperial grunts killed in a movie
  9. Muahahah. I see you've discovered the greatness of MC Chris. He's the voice of Hesh on Sea Lab 2021, and the song was used on an episode. Love that song.
  10. Hey all. My friend found some RoTJ VOTC figs for me, and I picked up doubles of Fett and the Stormtrooper. Awesome figures. I'm curious to hear from fellow owners of Fett though. The Hasbro website stated before that Fett would have 18 points of articulation. Is anyone else hard pressed to find those numbers? Han has 14, Luke has 15, and Luke in particular is coming off as far more poseable than Fett (even though Fett is truly the bees knees) who's supposed to have more than both. Am I missing something? Waist Neck Range-finder Shoulders x 2 Elbows x 2 Forearms x 2 Hips x 2 Knees x 2 Ankles x 2 By my count, that's 15 points of articulation.
  11. Anime figures I'd like to see: More One Piece: My friend has Alabasta Luffy and Zoro. They have their faults, but their pros greatly outnumber the flaws in my book. But how can they sit on this? God Ener, Crocodile, Arlong, Mihawk, Kuro, Smoker, Aokiji, and heaven forbid I say it, Mr.2, all would make for some killer figures. Plus I'm waiting for a Mr. Prince version of Sanji so that they could fix the articulation on him like they did with the Alabasta versions of Luffy and Zoro. More Naruto: After the Chuunin exams aired it was quite clear: Gai and Lee needed figures dammit! Better Hellsing figures: After having my Alucard break... I agree. There was a rumor once upon a time that McFarlane wanted to include Alucard in series 3 of the now debunked anime line. I wish that were true. Magic Shopping Arcade Abenobashi: I want the Mecha from episode 2 and Bruce Lee Sasshi from episode 3 >.< G-Gundam: Yah I know. They already made some some kick ass figures, but I'm not talking about the mechs! Ban Dai scrubbed teh 12" doll line, but I see lots of potential for characters in 6" scale with either their street clothing or fighting uniforms. Evangelion: Aside from the Bardiel/EVA-03 figure, we never got any angels. Satchiel, Zuriel, the twin one... those would've made for some kick ass figures if done like their EVA counterparts. Dominion Tank Police: I just want a RC version of the Bonaparte ^.^ Giant Robo: Any of the World Police would make for some great figures now adays, and Lord Alberto and Lord Ko Enishiko would be required at some point. Classic Vampire Hunter D: I'd much rather prefer the less ornate, more futuristic design from the first movie. And for my video game choice: Zone of the Enders 2. Jehuty, Anubis, Vic Viper, Nephtis, Ardjet... How the hell can these be ignored, especially after the success of Virtual On: The Otario Tangram figures from Kaiyodo.
  12. A friend of mine bought Inu Yasha the other day. Considering the figures that Toynami has made in the past, I'm disappointed in the lack of articulation these have. Inu Yasha had: -Swivel Neck -Swivel Waist -Swivel Shulders -Swivel Wrists And that's about it. Dunno what Kagome has.
  13. Unfortunately, Hurricane Charley fried my Dremel, so I cannot finish other projects that I am working on Here's what could be my last custom for a few months, Marvel vs. Capcom styled Cable. To make him, I sanded down the veins on his arm and neck, and sculpted his anime-like hair and better kneepads to reflect the game look. A quick repaint later and Nathan's done. The best part of this project though was the pistol. I had decided back in February when I had finally snagged a Blade II figure that the MAC-10 Blade comes with would be perfect for Cable. I sanded down the handle and most of the attachments to the gun, and sculpted out the shape of the video game gun and then dremeled in the details. Hopefully I find some way to replace my Dremel. In the meantime I hope to see the rest of you crank out some awesome stuff!
  14. Definitely use www.photobucket.com . Easy to use, and they provide you with the command prompts you need for message boards like this, so all you have to do is copy and paste.
  15. If it's simple acrylic craft paints, just use hot water and the rough side of a sponge. And whenver you decide to go back and repaint it, use primer before painting and sealer afterwards.
  16. Much better Mando. I really like the belt. Is it glued on, or is it being held up by totally different means? It looks really good.
  17. By now I'm sure everyone has seen the Star Wars store exclusive. Of all the versions to work with, they pick the old, out of date mold for him??? Why not fix up the old Sidious mold? Why not the newest Palpatine figure??? Talk about 2 steps back.
  18. Couple of questions: 1. Did you use the ankle pouches from another Scarlet Spider figure? When I was working on mine, those wouldn't fit all the way around. It eventually came to the point that I just cut the straps off and painted them on. 2. What paint did you use for the hoodie? Nothing I've tried so far will stay on the rubber. Now for comments: Mando, I know you're capable of better than this. You didn't make the belt buckle or any of the webcapsules for the belt, and unlike me, you actually still have your Scarlet Spider intact to use for reference. Go back and redo those eyes
  19. I've had some free time lately, so I've been using it to finish up some customs. Mangaverse Cyclops is made out of an X-Men Evolution Magneto. The helmet is removable revealing Scott's face as it appears in the Ronin series. Not content with the Spider-Man 2 Doc Ock, I removed the action figure, replaced the tentacles, and gave him a fresh coat of paint on his overly dark body. Check him out fighting Spidey! And this one I literally did this weekend. Scarlet Spider is a repaint of the Parachute Spidey with the ankle pouches from the original SMC Scarlet Spider. The belt and web blasters are sculpted on, and the hoodie came from the Secret Identity Spidey fig from SMC9.
  20. Nonsense, he's from the UK! @loll@ @smilepunch@ @loll@ @smilepunch@ ... Okay, sorry for the bad joke. It's a tad bit darker than the flesh tones they used on the original figure, which isnt' all at much better now is it? Here's another picture I took under a black light to illustrate his "action feature".
  21. I've got a lot of customs coming down the pipe, but this one seemed to come together first. I found the old Gen X Chamber at a garage sale, and to my surprise, I realized something: Chamber may have been 5" figure, but thanks to his sparkler feature, his body was bulked up all around, making his parts fit naturally on a 6" figure. I hacked off the jacket and left hand, and got to work mutilating an ML Gambit. I dremeled off Remy's jaw and hair and then sculpted in the "fire". The head part is separate from the rest of the body, so it can be posed unlike the old figure. I sculpted jacket sleeves, knee pads, and boots, then went and painted the rest in. For a fun feature, I painted his eyes with glow-in-the-dark paint for his eyes, then touched up the flames as well, making them partially capable of glowing as well. Thanks for looking!
  22. Many Thanks BR. I forgot how cool these things are.
  23. I'm trying to remember who posted a bunch of those animated GIFs back when the first season was released. Any help IDing the person would be greatly appreciated.
  24. They pushed the right button... ESB bounty hunters >.< Looks like I'll be picking up a few of these sets. But does anyone else here feel a little bummed that 4-LOM can never participate in active combat?
  25. Absolutely awesome Chad. Out of all the Mortal Kombat figures to come out over the years, the GI Joe ones for some reason were still the best. But even those pale in comparison to this custom. I take it's based off of the MK5: Deadly Alliance design?
