  2. Sources from within have informed Deadline that Amazon Studios is finalizing deals for Criminal, a TV adaptation of Ed Brubaker and artist Sean Phillips’ bestselling crime comic book series. The project is being described as an interlocking universe of crime stories based on Criminal writer Brubaker's award-winning comic book series. Brubaker will serve as executive producer and showrunner. Nick Pepper, Amazon Studios’ Head of US SVOD TV Development and Series – Wholly Owned signed Brubaker into a development deal back in 2019 and, along with EVP Development King, put Criminal in development at the indie studio. Pepper and Matt King, Head of Tentpole, Genre, and Universe Development of Wholly Owned content, are pushing for Criminal to be developed. Brubaker has received numerous accolades and won both the Eisner and Harvey Awards for Best Writer five times. For DC Comics, Brubaker overhauled Catwoman with artist Darwyn Cooke and was the co-creator of Gotham Central. He changed Marvel’s Captain America including the creation of the “Winter Soldier.” Television credits include serving as Supervising Producer on HBO’s Westworld, and, functioning on Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and was co-showrunner of Batman: Caped Crusader, the animated series from executive producers Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams, and Matt Reeves, which had a straight-to-series order from HBO Max and Cartoon Network.

  5. Super Bowl LVII will be hosted by Fox on February 12th with a battle between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. This is also a time of battle between the studios as they will be to dishing out $7 million for a 30-second ad to promote new spots and trailers for upcoming movies hitting during the 2023 year. Warner Bros. is looking to have a promotional spot for the June 16th release of DC’s The Flash. Universal will be promoting the Fast & Furious franchise with the May 19th release of Fast X. on February 9, Univeral is throwing a Fast X party on the L.A. Live Event Deck with star Vin Diesel and cast for the world premiere of the tenthquel’s trailer. So we may see it even before February 12th. Disney is dropping promotional spots for The Little Mermaid (May 26), Pixar’s Elemental (June 16), and possibly Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (June 30). Paramount is having promotional spots for Scream VI (March 10), Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (March 31), and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (June 9). No trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (July 14). No word on Amazon/MGM, Lionsgate, and United Artists may try to slip in under the radar and we see a promotional spot for United Artists Releasing’s Creed III (March 3) or Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 4 (March 24).   6. Alfred Pennyworth is out of a job... HBO Max has decided against a fourth season of Pennyworth after the third season on the streaming service. HBO Max picked up the series after two seasons on Epix. The third season ran its 10-episode from October through the end of November. The series follows Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon), a former British SAS soldier, who forms a security company in 1960s London and goes to work with young billionaire Thomas Wayne (Ben Aldridge), before he becomes Bruce Wayne’s father. The third season begins after a five-year time jump: The civil war is over, and a cultural revolution has changed the world for better or worse – ushering in a new age of superheroes and supervillains. Harry Shum, Jr. (Everything Everywhere All At Once, Crazy Rich Asians) makes his DC Universe Movies debut as the voice of Brainiac 5. LOSH – SG-B5 - 3 - Supergirl and Brainiac 5 overcome their initial combativeness with each other to focus their combined forces on their mutual enemies in Legion of Super-Heroes. Meg Donnelly (American Housewife, The Winchesters) and Harry Shum, Jr. (Everything Everywhere All At Once, Crazy Rich Asians) provide the voices of Supergirl and Brainiac 5, respectively. LOSH – Brainiac5 Shielded - Utilizing his unique powers and unmatched intellect, Brainiac 5 unveils a kinetic energy shield to fend off laser blasts in a thrilling scene from Legion of Super-Heroes. Harry Shum, Jr. (Everything Everywhere All At Once, Crazy Rich Asians) gives voice to Brainiac 5. LOSH – SG-Red Cloud-1 - The ever-relentless Supergirl emerges from the remnants of an explosion to continue her attack on the enemy in Legion of Super-Heroes. Supergirl is voiced by Meg Donnelly (American Housewife, The Winchesters).

  9. Problem with ordering toys from Walmart is you have to order half a dozen of the same thing just to get one that isn't totally smashed. Walmart has the worst packaging/shipping when it comes to toys.
  10. Director James Mangold is looking for another directing project and he may have found it with Swamp Thing. The project is in the early development stages and a script hasn't even been written but Mangold is a huge Swamp Thing fan, and DC loves the idea that Mangold wants to do it and has made him an offer. DC Studio's co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran announced a Swamp Thing movie but didn't make any director announcements on Tuesday. Today, Mangold tweeted out a photo from the Swamp Thing comic book which Gunn then re-tweeted. Swamp Thing movie would be way down the road as Mangold will be helming the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown starring Timothée Chalamet after Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Mangold is credited with executive producing, co-writing, and directing Logan, the third Wolverine movie starring Hugh Jackman. Source: Deadline
  11. DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran spoke out about the Greg Berlanti-produced CW series Superman & Lois today and believe the series will continue for one or two more seasons. The DC Studio bosses noted that nothing is in the works with Berlanti Productions and Berlanti’s Green Lantern series is not moving forward at the streamer. Source: Deadline
