  1. I haven't seen ANYTHING related to this wave outside of my local comic book shop (they ordered 5 cases from Diamond and got 1). Going out today to look around. I'm beginning to resign myself to having to grab these off of scalper-bay sooner than later. I don't want to miss out like I did wave 5. FRUSTRATING!!!
  2. I found the five pack last night at the one Wal-mart I frequent. They had the spot on the shelf and price tag on Monday night, and that shelf was filled last night with a case (three, 5-Packs). I picked out the best one and left the other two. If we're getting them here after the debacle that was Wave 5, we MIGHT actually see Wave 10. I'll believe it when I see it, but I have a little hope.
  3. I saw the Silver Surfer/Stealth Iron Man/Classic Daredevil at the TRU in Gurnee, IL (FAR north suburb of Chicago), and thought about snarfing one for about 10 seconds, until I saw the price of $29.99 and said NO THANKS, not for that price. If it were 22.99, I probably would have picked on up. Boo price point, boo bad price point.....
  4. Nothing in Illinois yet on this one. I'm interested because of the Luthor and I missed out on Two-Face before as well as Catwoman.
  5. Not finding it in Illinois yet....but I have LOW expectations based on the debacle that was Wave 5 here. I may have to buy it on EBay sooner than later before the price gets driven up because of the most likely POOR distribution. What's the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. WalMart Distribution + Exclusive Wave of DCUC = FAIL!
  6. Any sightings of this or wave 10 in the Midwest (rather than bag on each other)?
  7. I'm with Ares, there are many that are very impressive, but many more I don't recognize. Does anyone have a comprehensive list with characters by wave? If not, no biggie, just wishing I was in San Diego.
  8. Cry me a freakin' river. "Boo hoo, I'm so beautiful, nobody takes me seriously as an actress." "It's so hard to find a good mechanic for my Porsche." "I'm so mad that my local Wal-mart go so many cases of wave 5, that I'm stuck picking over Riddlers until they're all bought, even though I know that some areas (like the Northern Suburbs of Chicago) never even saw a FIGURE from that wave in the wild." So, buy them all, hold the receipt, then a week or two later when they've put the fresh cases out, return your Riddlers, except one which you can SEND TO ME for the advice.
  9. BIGDAWG is right on. I'm still steaming a little about half assed job either Mattel or Wal-Mart did with Wave 5. I BLAME THEM BOTH!!!! It NEVER hit the northern 'burbs of Chicago (a pretty large market), and I'm kicking myself for politely passing WAY BACK WHEN, when another poster offered to sell me a set for $100. This was of course before they started going for $300 to $4000 on Scalperbay.
  10. When did Aquaman die? I have no problems with the appearance of the Black Lanterns. I only wish they would include the Hal Jordan "Rainbow Warriors" that are presently only a SDCC exclusive. THAT is ridiculous how they're doing that.
  11. I was able to get in right away and order my two figs. I'm VERY much looking forward to getting them and hope DCUC will put out more of these guys like Johnny Quick, Power Ring and the rest.
  12. Ares, I appreciate your concern and agree with most of your points, HOWEVER I can do without the crying comments and kleenex and whatnot. Totally not necessary. That said, YOU WERE RIGHT in that I was frustrated and took it out on the boards. My apologies. The point (which one of the other posters picked up on without picking on another poster) was that if we don't voice our displeasure to the companies (they do read these boards), how are they going to know they're annoying their customers? As I said, Gleek is a convention exclusive, they want to drive business there, so be it, they're throwing a bone to collector community by offering Zan and Jayna through Mattycollector, MUCH APPRECIATED. Hopefully they'll have enough the first go round to meet the demand, if not, they'll push out what they have and we'll have to check back and HOPE they have more. The DCD Lanterns? That's Bullshizzle. One a day at the convention, EVERYDAY, that's five days of standing in lines to get the whole set. You know and I know that sets will turn up on E-bay and recession or not, I'd guess they'll go for $400+ a set. How does that benefit DCD? It sets up the shop for arbitrage and only scalpers benefit and fans that can't go to SDCC get rolled. How does that make sense? DCD should follow what Matty did, and make say four out of the five figs available on an electronic retail platform (so the fans can get the product WITHOUT being held up by the scalpers), and make the fifth a con exclusive. Or better yet, all the figs at the con, and all available at either through Diamond or straight through an electronic platform from DCD, BUT each fig at the con comes with a plastic replica ring of each color to match that particular Lantern. Like Gleek, those hardcore fans get an exclusive extra for the effort of going to the con, and fans that can't make it, get rewarded with the figs (but not the rings, THOSE are exclusive). All these ideas above are constructive and helpful, not whining and crying like you suggest (and I'll try and keep my frustrations to myself). Please, let's try and help the companies making the toys we're compelled to buy. Kind Regards, MP
  13. Another one. Look the Ultraman/Luthor thing is probably a mistake. To be fair I was concerned they'd make too many and you'd end up hearing something that starts with "due to poor sales..." and ends with "... no more DC figures." Maybe they underestimated the interest in this set. I couldn't imagine why with the fantastic support most of you guys give them. Wave 5, maybe you should stop putting the blame on Mattel and ask your local Wal-Mart why you couldn't find them because judging from other comments I've seen some stores just aren't carrying it at all. Gleek, I can't believe the ridiculousness surrounding this situation. THEY ARE TRYING TO GET PEOPLE TO GO TO THE CONVENTION!!! For some people what toys they can get there are what makes the decision for them to go or not to go. All you people do is complain about how you can get a glorified accessory, you never think "Well, at least I'm lucky enough to be able to get the Twins on Matty Collector post-convention." Exclusive figures are a way of life in this business and if you can't accept that then you should find another hobby. When they announced the Wonder Twins were going to be available on Matty (sans Gleek), I was in your camp. At least I can get this, even without the Gleek. I guess after the debacle that was the distribution of DCUC Wave 5 (yeah, I blame Wal-mart a little, but you don't do an exclusive wave to get people into Wal-mart without negotiating that ALL THE FREAKIN' STORES WOULD CARRY IT, or you reserve the right to sell it on Matty), the Gleekless Twins, the problems with Luthor and Ultraman, and now the DCD GL's Rainbow Warriors that will be impossible to get is the latest nut shot with DC Figures, I'm just about done. Seriously, they not only want you to go to the Con, but EVERY DAY to get each one of these. That's rigodamndiculous! -------------------- lace front wigs wedding dress In the timeline of the thread, the updates on Facebook for Matty collector weren't up. I'd assumed there'd be another chance I'd be able to get these figs (kind of like DCUC wave 5), but again, like wave 5, I was afraid it was not meant to be. So now, I'll hit their site periodically and eventually get them. As far as the GL's are concerned, no, that's not Mattel (It's DCD like I said in my post), but that is the best story going in the funny books and those do look like good figs. I suppose the point is (like Gleek), I understand having convention exclusives, but why make it almost impossible for those who don't have the time or funds to go to SDCC for the little bits of plastic? Why are they exclusive to JUST SDCC? Why not have them at ALL the Wizard shows (I'll hit the one in Chicago, I do probably every other year) too? There's exclusivity, and there's being bastards about it. Gleek is exclusive (and I appreciate their throwing us a bone who can't go to SCDD, so long as they offer them at Matty for more than five minutes before pulling the string), the GL Rainbow Warriors for DCD is being bastards. My two cents, you mileage may vary.

  15. It's 1:15 PM CST, I forgot these figures went on sale today, so I dial over to Mattycollector.com and get a big fat "Currently Unavailable", what the hell? Are these sold out already? Tell me again why they also couldn't put Wave 5 out on Mattycollector, or why DC Direct would put the spectrum of Hal Jordan's out only as a SDCC Exclusives, one a day, at select times, insuring nobody will truly get what they want? Again, no Gleek either on Mattycollector? Why do they hate their customers????
  16. This is worse than Wave 5 of DCUC. $369 for five (fantastic) Green/Yellow/Orange/Red/Blue Lantern Hal Jordan Figs? WHAT recession???!?!?!?!
  17. I understand how some might be disappointed that DC did the obvious thing and just move up Dick to Batman, but the last time Bruce was out of action, they gave it to Jean-Paul Valley (the not so obvious choice), and we know how that turned out. I kind of liked that story, but was convinced they made up JP Valley just for it and wanted to see how Dick would have done. Now I guess I'm getting my chance, but I'd have preferred Tim stay as Robin, or he take over Nightwing (for the time being). Yeah, I really only read Green Lantern these days, that book kicks all kind of technicolor bootay.
  18. Yeah, Maxim Magazine is ALL ABOUT confidence and self assuredness (is that a word). Regardless, ARROW is completely wrong (yeah, pretty women who are confident are hotter than pretty women who have a low self image), but COME ON!!!!! No way she belongs on this list. NO FREAKIN' WAY!!!!! That first lady of France....she might though...MEOW!!!!!!
  19. The GL and GL Corps has become the only book I read the day I get it. My pull list has gone from 15-20 titles to 6 or 7. Really, it's the only book out there that seems worth reading right now.
  20. If it's a five pack, and it's Wal-mart, can it be a reissue of their poorly distributed, impossible to find wave five? The complete wave is on scalper bay for like $200, if they release a five pack reissue for $60 or $70 I'll take back EVERYTHING bad I said about them. my 2 cents....
  21. Yup, I'd like the Wonder Twins Plus Gleek, nothing more.
  22. I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. They plan these waves pretty far in advance. The wave 10 from the Wal-Mart Computer (I'll NEVER forgive them for the lousy distribution of Wave 5 which I never saw in the wild nor paid through the nose for on E-Bay), is probably correct, and this report is probably a filler wave for some time after that. There was a good article in ToyFare magazine a couple of months ago where Mattel explained the theory behind the character selection. I can't recall it exactly, but they wanted one big name figure per wave, a complementary figure to that one, a villain (most likely with ties to that big name figure), then two or three lesser figures for that wave. I liked that concept and hope they continue. Yeah, I know they'll run out of "big name" figures sooner than later (I can't think of any big ones that are missing now after Wave 10). My two cents.
  23. Dark Knight Returns. Hands down, the best graphic novel ever. Better than Watchmen and all the rest.
  24. I'm as crazy a completest as they come, but at least Mattel is throwing a bone to the those who can't go to the SDCC. Sure, I want the blue monkey (even though I HATED him in the show), but I'm not going to go crazy if I can't get my mitts on him. They're giving me the option of picking up the Wonder Twins, WITHOUT having to pay scalper prices. So, I miss the monkey, at least I get 95% of the exclusive without having to go to the con or hitting E-Bay. Now, if ONLY they'd find a way to get Wave 5 into the hands of the buyers without them having to go to E-Bay. That was easily the WORST distribution I've EVER seen (and I've been buying Marvel Legends since the first wave), and I still don't have any of those figs. My 2 cents...
