  1. In contrast to TOY-BIZ, with HML, all you have to do is wait a few months...and they all show up in the stores...and everybody gets them. Now, I'm not complainin' about availability...missing out on variants and hard-to-get characters was a bummer... ...but much of the excitement seems gone...anti-climactic, even... Does anyone know what I mean? For me, HASBRO has sucked some of the life out of it...some of it...not all...
  2. ML 12, ML 13, ML 14, ML 15, The Wal-Mart Wave, Marvel Monsters Box-Set, Young Avengers Box-set, House of M Box-Set, Marvel Face-Offs Wave 1, Marvel Face-Offs Wave 2, X-Men CLassics, Spider-Man Classics, the start of Icons...did I forget anything? ...it was an unbelievable time to collect Legends! Practically every month there was a mad scramble to find the latest releases from TOY-BIZ's merry crew... ...lot's of fan-favorites, too! Speaking for myself...Iron-Fist, the Sentry, classic Thor, Ant-Man, classic Green Goblin, Luke Cage, 1st-appearance Iron-Man, Zemo, the Falcon, Captain marvel, the Wasp, MoonKnight, Destroyer, Werewolf by Night, Dracula... ...seems like a dream now... HASBRO hasn't done a horrible job with the LEGENDS line...but not doing "horrible" is faint praise. They've definitely sucked some of the joy right out of the hobby... ...I wonder if MARVEL TOYS (TOY-BIZ) could ever get the license back? I can dream, can't I?
  3. WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING!?!?!?! EVER HEARD OF lower case letters? All upper-case is unpleasant to read. Now...to answer your question...I'm annoyed at the prospect of a Spidey-3 wave of figures in the Legends line for the following reasons: 1. Movie figs belong in a line dedicated to Movie figs. TOY-BIZ rarely dropped Movie figs into the Legends line, the rare exception that I can remember being the Movie Daredevil in Wave 3 (and then only because the line of movie figs for DD was canceled). 2. These characters have already been done-to-death in the Legends/SMC line by TOY-BIZ, and done well. The exception is Mary Jane, and most people only want her if she's a comic-accurate Mary Jane, not Kirsten Dunst. 3. The Legends line should be for (IMO) for comic-accurate figures. Reasonable people can disagree as to which era (Gold-Silver-Bronze-Modern) is best, but movie figs should be left out, especially if they're doing BAFS which require us to buy the entire line to construct the BAF. 4. HASBRO has already decided to produce 5" movie figs, and (IMO) they suck. Most likely, these pieces of crap will be reproduced in a slightly larger scale for this rumored Spidey-3 HML 4 wave. No thanks! So...that's why people are bummed. #US1#
  4. Magneto's helmet looks GOOFY...like a kid's Halloween costume.
  5. Hydra soldier...buildin' an army for Baron Strucker! Then...Black Knight! 'Bout time! (Does his helmet look like it comes off?)
  6. If HML 4 is dedicated SOLELY to movie figs from Spidey 3...then count me out. Sorry, HASBRO, but if true, that's a sublimely STUPID decision. I was always counseling cautious optimism on HASBRO's acquistion of the license...but so far, I'm not a truly satisfied customer. A Spidey 3 movie wave in 6"-scale is NOT a bad idea...but NOT in the LEGENDS line!!! Ummm...earth to HASBRO....TOY-BIZ actually had a separate line for LEGENDS, for Spidey CLassics, for X-MEN classics, aaaaaaand for Marvel Movie figs. And they were well done...and they sold. What's the friggin' problem?!?!?
  7. I'm on-board with these. I feel compelled to buy them, in the hope that TOY-BIZ (ummm...'scuse me..."MARVEL TOYS") can one day win back the Marvel Legends license. They're pretty cool, even though I'm not an IMAGE reader. Still, the license is wide-open for all kinds of cool characters, including some Golden-Age Pulp greats like DOC SAVAGE and THE SHADOW, who've previously had books at IMAGE. And don't forget about SUPREME, and ASTRO-CITY (althoughh I'm not sure if Busiek is publishing A-C through IMAGE anymore...) BUT...where's the CONAN?!?!? That was my promary "fig-of-interest"!
  8. Personally, I think all of the 5" movie figs are crap personified. HASBRO has taken a GIANT step backward with their movie figs - to 1994 - and I simply don't get the appeal. Since I prefer comic-accurate figs to movie figs, it doesn't really affect me, except I wish they'd stop putting movie characters in the LEGENDS lines. #US1#
  9. For the record, I think this is a only a so-so figure. The cloth jacket looks plain silly, and the head sculpt is...I dunno...awkward??? My preference would be to grab one and do a head-swap with the standard HML 2 She-Hulk. But I don't understand a lot of the criticism of HASBRO for putting it out (other than the fact that it's a SDCC exclusive...). Seriously, TOY-BIZ often re-released figures as variants with nothing more than a new paint-job and head-sculpt. The ML 15 Wasp is the perfect example, so it's really nothing new (and Wasp variants were not as easy to come by, either...)
  10. Huh? Since when is Hasbro not interested in repaints? There is an Emma, Wolverine and Surfer ALREADY...and they have only released 2 waves, lol! Talk to a Star Wars collector about Hasbro and repaints. They bought those molds and will squeeze out whatever money they can from them. I could care less about the Cage variant but few collectors would pass on the Psylocke and Blue Wasp, IMO. I agree. They'll be out sometime in the near future.
  11. I'm one of the few (I think...) who isn't bothered by HASBRO's decision to slightly minimize the articulation on LEGENDS. I actually thought TOY-BIZ overdid it with articulation. The effort was appreciated, but the execution was often poor. Some of the joints, especially in the female figs, were way too flimsy, and were easily busted. Paint-apps, however, is another story. HASBRO is not doing a good job here. Their figures, while sturdier, lack a certain realism that TOY-BIZ put into the Legends line. HASBRO's figures seem, for lack of a better word, "flat". If you look at the 2-up figs for HML 2 that were first shown at SDCC in '06 (and presumably prepared by TOY-BIZ), the better paint-apps make them much more appealing. I'd be surprised if HASBRO didn't adjust the quality of their paint-apps on LEGENDS, as surely this is an oft-heard complaint. Articulation may be another story.
  12. KB at Manhattan Mall (33rd and Broadway/6th) was flush last week with 4 cases. I was able to complete my set. So far, as far as being on the pegs, I've only seen them in Oregon and New York City. A collecting-buddy picked up the entire set in April at a KB in Jersey when the first shipments landed on the pegs. Since then, I was also fairly frustrated, enough so that I paid $11.99 each instead of waiting for them to hit Target or TRU. But relax...they'll get there! And hey! Look on the bright side! MARVEL is NOT going to stop licensing their characters. Sales with TOY-BIZ, and fan-devotion, was very good. If HASBRO drops the ball and damages the line...dare I say it?...maybe (maybe!) it could end up back where it belongs! (Just conjecture...but hey...weirder things have happened!)
  13. Kangaroo Man-Mountain Marko Silver-Age Beetle Silver Age Gwen Stacy...in boots and hot pants...Grrrrrrrrrowll!!!!!! Silver-Age Mary-Jane (as John Romita Sr. first drew her in ASM # 43) Cyclone (we need a few more Euro-weenie villains...) Morbius (not the dreadful SMC Morbius, but a classic one...blue costume, red winglets) ...and my number one choice (for those of us who lived through "the Disco Age"!): HYPNO-HUSTLER !!! ("Le freak, c'est chic...FREAK OUT!!!")
  14. I hope they didn't get canned. I wouldn't mind an Ultimate Mags, even if he's only a repaint.
  15. So let me get this straight...your advice, basically...is to lie??? GOOD strategy...those "buffoons" in BIG, BAD BUSINESS will never see through that! @hmmm@
  16. This was the one with re-paints of Magneto, Captain America, Wolvie, Cyclops, and Iceman. The Mags was the ML 3 Mags done in purple (Ultimate Mags). The Cap was ML 8 with different color scheme, the Wolvie was an amalgam of several ML Wolvies with better claws, the Cyclops was a XMC Cyke (a' la Jim Lee) with short sleeves, and the Icem,an was a repaint of ML 8 Iceman. I haven't heard any news of these for months.
  17. Two particular incidents come to mind. I found two SMC Scorpions on the pegs at TRU when they were first released - one for me, one for a collecting buddy. I opened one, and the left arm instantly fell off. I tried to re-attach it, but it wouldn't stay on because the "female" part of the joint was deformed. Great... So, being obsessive, I opened the other one (I hadn't yet told my buddy I had it...I know, I know...). As soon as I tried to twist the torso, the pelvis fell completely apart, and the legs fell off. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!! I was able to salvage one (1) Scorpion by removing the arm from the guy with no legs, and transplanting it onto the guy with the defective arm. Fun, huh? The second incident was with ML 10 Mystique. As soon as I moved her left arm, the joint snapped off at the shoulder. Grrrrrrrrr!!!!! A month or so later, I found another on the shelves. Guess what? As soon as I moved her left arm, the joint snapped off at the shoulder. Grrrrrrrrr!!!!! To this day, I don't have Mystique...she ticked me off! (plus...I can't find her anywhere at a reasonable price...)
  18. Uh that would fall under the first one ##$%$#. Also, I'm assuming you scored more than 5 right? Here's another one for you 21. Looking through website posts over 2 days old Nice try, but I didn't have to go look anything up. I saw the post, saw your name and said to myself "oh yeah, that's the same dildo from the other thread who thought he was cool and started that thread about overpaying for those POS figures and completely got ripped for it." It was pretty easy, actually. ugh, I called myself on it, and so did you and so did everyone else in the other post. Thank you for bringing that post over here because I'm sure you feel real good about yourself when you fight through posts. May I remind you that I'm not the one who brought up the price, actually no one even answered my question which was the original post. I asked if anyone had seen them here in the states and some douche, probably you, brought up the price. So if anyone else wants to point out what I already pointed out about finding them here as soon as I paid an ungodly sum for two figures then why don't you just go back to last weeks post and add it there. Anyway, why don't you just admit how many of these you are and be done with it? I'm guessing you have a goatee right? Do you work at a video store.....I bet you do. Oh, and I don't think I'm cool,I know I'm cool, my mom said so Somebody would have probably answered your question if they weren't so busy clowning on you for getting raped on a couple of crappy figures that will be everywhere soon. And actually, none of your list applies to me because I don't collect figures anymore (I actually collect statues). Just like to come in and keep up w/ what's going on and flame the occasional dumbass noob such as yourself. I guess #1 would apply to me (for statues, not toys) as I have spent about $1500 in the last 45 days or so on statues and have another $3000+ in preorders for stuff that will be released in the next 6 months or so. #11 would also apply I suppose (although I refer to that as an "office" since I have my PC and all my books in there, the reality is 90% of the room is for my collection, lol). The rest doesn't apply to me because you can't buy statues at retail stores, I'm not fat, not bald, no facial hair, I own my own house, etc. As for where I work...feel free to PM if you want to compare how much we make. You seemed to come up w/ quite a lengthy list there rather easily...you sure most of that doesn't apply to you? See for yourself j*rkoff, this is getting fun. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...iendid=46758336 What was I supposed to "see for myself" from that? Your garage band??? Should I head to itunes now or later? P.S.- Please stop butchering the Spider-man theme song. Thanks BWAH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAH!!! I was thinking the same thing! Yeah...only the Uber-successful have their own "MySpace" page...no wonder he can afford to get fleeced on <snicker!>...HML 2 "variants"!!! He's a tycoon! BWAH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAH!!! @loll@
  19. Movie DD Red Skull Scarlet Witch Emma Frost By the way...did anyone else notice that Emma Frost figure looks A LOT like Wez's special androgynous "friend" from "The Road Warrior" ("Mad Max 2") ?? You know...the one who gets the boomerang-razor implanted in his skull?
  20. I have to say that I'm not surprised by this, and I'm not sure if I disagree with it, either. I'm a big fan of customizing, and have done it myself. I'm amazed at the talent of some of the guys at the leading edge of this artform, like this forum's Jin Saotome. However, there's no getting around the fact that selling a custom-made figure of a trademarked character is copyright infringement. Many believe that it's"no big deal", and in the grand scheme of things, it probably isn't. But I think they'd feel differently if it were their copyright (meaning "their dollars") being infringed. It's a delicate issue. On the one hand, most customizers are probably buying copious amounts of figures, so they're big customers, presumably deserving of a break. On the other hand...if a company "looks the other way" on small transgressions like selling custom figures, a legal precedent has now been set whereby it may become difficult to prosecute increasing degrees of more serious copyright infringement...the "slippery slope" argument. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. BTW...perhaps TOY-BIZ's handling of this situation, as described, was poor. After all...they did lose the license.
  21. My grandmother in Romania needs an operation. I'm soliciting funds from everyone and anyone who may be able to help. DRS...can you send me a check for $5,000? For my grandmother?? My sweet babu...<sob>... And can you make it out to "Cash"? Multumesc!! (That's "Thanks!"...in Romanian...) PS And while you're at it, can you find some dates for my friends??
  22. Should we tell him that if he'd exercised a little patience, by mid-summer he could have got them both at WalMart for $15?? Or would that be mean? ...conflicted... OH, what the heck?! Hey, DRS!!! Did you know that if you'd only exercised a little patience, by mid-summer you could have got them both at WalMart for $15?? @loll@
  23. The "World Social Forum"??? Oh, I get it. A bunch of Socialists (ie, people who don't understand that Socialism is not a viable economic philosphy...they didn't get the memo...) say "America is the source of all problems", and you beleive it??? I suppose if you're a Dictator, like Hugo Chavez or Fidel Castro or Kim Jong Il or Vladimir Putin or Bashar Al-Assad or Mahmoud Amadinejad, or the leader of a large, quasi-communist state that locks up people with different opinions and suppresses free speech like, oh, say, China, then you probably would think that the US is a threat to "world peace and sustainability"...since to you, "world peace and sustainability" means you rule with an iron fist, without from the annoying intereference of freedom (ie, the "United States"). Seriously, before you post such glaringly obvious cliches, get a grip on things like history, world affairs and the truth. There's a reason that immigrants from around the world want to come to America...and it has to do with freedom, not the "World Social Forum" and their virews on "world peace and sustainability". There's also a reason that Canada, France, and Germany have recently elected strong, pro-American leaders. The proper response to any idiotic pronouncement from the "World Social Forum" is not respect, but "Who cares??" #US1# (Yes, we ARE!) now now let's not drag harmless communists into this we never hurt anybody. i think what people are tring to say is that the american flag as A SYMBOL has been twisted into a double meaning for greed and war mongering. i tend to stay out of debates because no matter what you say somebody "knows" more about your opinion than you and feels the need to correct you. can't we all just get along? Anyone who thinks the American flag is a symbol of "greed and war-mongering" is beneath contempt, and utterly ignorant. That's not an opinion.
