I saw the TF forums had an interesting topic so I'm going to steal it and make it our own.

How much, roughly, have you spent on your GI Joe collection?

This goes for the people who only buy or can afford JvC, vitage collectors, miscellaneous items and/or the vehicles.

After a brief assesment of my own collection, I'd say I'm in the $2-3,000 mark. I've got 1983-1987 completed (loose) with mixed figures/years inbetween. I don't collect foriegn figures or novelty items (lunchboxes, soapdishes, party favors ect) I've got a couple dozen Cobra troops and a small number of vehicles. I am however incredibly picky and only buy items in C9 or better condition.

Also, what will you do with your collection in the event of death?

I know you can't really do much with them after you're dead ( :wink:) but I'm leaving them to my sister to sell, and put the money towards my nephew, whatever he may need... This is assuming I die in the next twenty years.

I know it's morbid, but you get very curious at 5 in the AM :lol:

It has been brought to my attention by a newbie here that I post too many pics. I feel like the best way for me to know if I am actually guilty of this is to ask you all as a whole.

I try to take good clear close pics of items everyone is asking about - I think this helps feed what we all crave.. TF's!!!! I keep them all in one post, and I do requests :lol:

Please vote honestly - It will most likly result in wether or not I stay at ADC.

Has anyone here ordered from the gijoe collectors club? I was thinking of ordering wave 5 from them.

Do you think Brians toys is a good place to buy joes? I ordered some joes I didnt have from them and I'm waiting for them in the mail in the nexte few days.

I'm about to head off to my new job. I make 7 bucks an hour but it will only last two weeks. It's contract work, i left crap and move crap YAY! but besides getting a few gifts (i already have some put back) i'll have tons of money for joe! wee-haw!

I just picked up a Dart/CLAWS pack, the only wave 4 I'm missing.. and I have to say.. Claws sucks, but Dart is amazing! My Dart's face isn't warped, though, I did have to look for one with the least warp-age, so I can understand what you mean. But this figure is awesome. Definatly my Favorite figure of wave 4, and my favorite new character within the line.. This may be my favorite figure in all of JvC.. Well, him and Stalker. I have an awesome 3-man Ranger team now. Stalker, Beach Head, and Dart. I know he's a tracker, but he's also a Ranger according to his file card, and Rangers are my favorite branch of military so it's only right I use him for a Ranger. I'm impressed.. and very happy. His detailing is great too. If you haven't already, pick up one of this set.. And don't bother army building the CLAWS.. He's horrible.

my b/f wants an anime movie, or a box set. the problem is that i don't know which one to buy

What do you think of a theme limited edition Joe pack?

Something like a Duke vrs Cobra Commander Underwater set

Picture a New Duke done with the Duke head and a Wet Suit body in a pack with 3-5 wetsuits all painted in Grey with Yelow treatments.

Then..

A Cobra Pack that features Cobra Comander done with a Cobra Commander head and the current Cobra Morey body in a pack with 3-5 Moreys all painted Blue with red Treatments.

Questions...

1) would this intrerest you

2) would you buy it?

a) If it cost $19.95 per set

If it cost $29.95 per set

3) would the production numbers mean anything to you?

a) if it were limited to less than 5,000 of each set

if it were limited to 10,000 of each set

4) would you car if it was classic figures produced by Funskool, but with ugraded packaging?

5) would it matter if it were available..

a) only on ebay?

Is Hasbro still going to make more of the "Real American Hero Collection" 2pack line, or have they been discontinued?

I really like that line better then the GI Joe vs Cobra!

The last wave I've seen was the one with TOMAX & XAMOT, Serpantor & Shock Viper and a few others.

Why don't we start up a anime tourney? We could list over fav characters anywhere and pit them against each other in a popularity contest, kinda like the ones that are happening in the TF board!

First 24 characters I'll take. I'll pit them 1 vs 24, 2 vs 23, etc. etc.

Eventually it'll be a three way battle for supremacy!

I like the movies more because the books were WAy too detailed and all the charecters did in the book was b**ch and it was really annoying

Hey guys... Just a heads up... I stopped by a Family Dollar Store the other day while waiting on some friends to meet me next door for lunch... Was just casually hoping to find a stocking stuffer or something for my Fiance when much to my suprise I came around the corner to see HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of Joe Vs Cobra 2 pack figs for 5 BUCKS!!! They were all wave 1.25 and 1.5 They had TONS and I mean TONS of green vipers and blue alley vipers... Definately a good thing for army builders out there!! 10 vipers for fiifty bucks!!!

Anyways thought I would pass that along.... Has anyone else been noticing a LOT of wave 1.25 and 1.5 resurfacing at other retailers? Ive noticed that all most all the department and toy stores in my town suddenly have a whole fresh supply of these earlier waves.

I've always thought about this topic, and it's one of the main things that always irked me about the GI Joe series...

Let's assume Cobra is real, for a minute. They're a global terrorist organization with the purpose of world domination. Their primary target is normally the United States of America. Their forces are not that of typical terrorists, and they are not afraid to invade territories, establish bases and deliberately attack US personnel. Most of of all, they are well staffed and number in the hundreds if not thousands.

So when the hell would a special forces unit like GI Joe be pushed aside and the responcibility shifted to the Navy, the Air Force, the Army, and so forth?

I mean GI Joe taking on Cobra when they hid in middle America and kidnapped scientists was A-OK, but Cobra has ballooned over the years into more than just a terrorist organization - they're big enough to be attacked with bigger guns, so to speak.

To me, this has always been the biggest problem GI Joe has... If the team were to fail to stop Cobra, the Army or Marines would just step in and kill the enemy to death. Sorta takes away from their importance.

I can't find anything on these older cartoons. I have heard that no true Joe fan will give them a squint because theyre a disgrace to GI Joe. Though Im not the biggest fan of them, I sorta rather enjoyed a few of them. I remember one where Destro was goonna suprise the Commander with an android of Gen hawk for his Birthday. THat did pretty much suck. and the one where Cobra took over a television station and were deploited by Gen Hawk and Capt Krimov (Redstar). but seriously, werent these shows worth even considering a chance to be revisited? or is it all really just bull #$##?
