I was just wondering if anyone is going to miss the cartoon since Thursday night is the last night? I sure hope that CN decides to bring it back with more episodes and at a better time. Even if they decide not to I really enjoyed getting to see it again.

I saw that an upcoming wave of 12 inchers has a witch king, but are they refering to a ringwraith or an actual king?

I have, on other message boards (Wizard World, Captain's Table), occasionally run Music Exchange threads. I'm curious to see if there's enough demand here for me to try and launch it in this forum.

 

Basically, the way it works, is that first I put out a call for volunteers. Sometimes, if there's a lot of people willing, I specify for each round how many people I'm looking for. Sometimes, I may pick someone by name, though it's usually first come, first serve.

 

The next step is that all of the people get to choose a band or two, and a number of songs. I'll always specify in advance the number of bands and songs I'm looking for.

 

Once the correct number of volunteers, bands, and songs have been selected, all the participants seek out all the songs and listen to them. After that, they post whether or not they liked the songs. Detailed reviews are welcomed, but not necessary.

 

So, like I said, I'm just checking whether there's any demand for such a thing here. If I find enough positive response, I'll start it up.

Just picked her up yesterday at teh comic store. Man, she's got guns...lots and lots of guns. I was putting my Meryl together and my roommate saw that she came out, so he immediately went to the comic store to buy his own!

Hopefully, they'll make a Knives Millions.......*cross fingers*

Since my game on the Star Wars board is just about over, I figured I'd start one over here. FYI, Mightyrain has started a "MOTU: The Weakest Link" topic in the MOTU forum...so check that out as well. I also think someone who knows something about Transformers should start a "Weakest Link" thread on the Transformers board so we can have a showdown between the top toy lines in the "General Discussion" forum once we get a winner in each category.

That was friggin' disturbing.

Is it just Target? Or are they moving the case assortments around now? Because i was at Target a few days ago, and found that the ONLY LOTR figures on pegs were Strider, Elrond and Bilbo (strider not aragorn)...

Now does anyone know what's up with that? From what ive read in other threads around here, people are encountering similar scenes at other stores (namley target)... but i know that target is a pretty "anti collector" store. So is it a case of them holding on to the most wanted figures in the back, so scalpers wont get them, and then forgeting about them, only to put them out later? Because when i saw those on the pegs they looked as if they were an entire case of figures, but with only the hard to find ones in it... how odd...

Since we are suppossedly finally getting this around Oct from an unnamed shoppings club (Please let it be Sam's club, I live in the midwest), I was wondering if anyone had heard exactly which figures will be in it. I know it sounds stupid, but there have been multiple figures for Strider, Frodo and Gimli. I'd assume that well get th Boromir, Merry, Pippin and Sam that appeared in the two pack (which is great or us that didn't get them). While Gandolf and Legolas will be from the singles. So that leaves three Frodos, two Aragon's and two Gimli's to choose from.

Well, the girlfriend wanted to go shopping for clothes for the new college year. Her sister went with her, so I took the opportunity to travel around Columbia, SC and find some joes. I ended up at 16 differant stores.

I was looking for the last three I needed from Wave 1.35, Wave 2 and the Joe HQ. After all that traveling around I found nothing except the Joe Headquarters. This things is nice. Not great, but good. I like it, but to justify the $60 I spent on it, I wish it would have came with a vehicle or a couple more figures. And it says Flint on the box, but guess which filecard you get? Rock and Roll. Not sure why they did that. Either way, it made the trip worth while, I just wish I could have found some more figures. They had RAH wave 3 & 4 at the KayBee but I didn't want to spend my money on them and then not have the money for the wave 1.35 and wave 2 stuff. I'm gonna try finding the wave 1.35 stuff online somewhere. Wave 2 should be here at my town in Wal-mart or Target. Or in a closer TRU. Anyone know if the BJs will be getting the 8 pack in anytime soon?

so far i've only picked up scarlett and zartan, nunchuk and firefly, and the viper, alley viper, mirage, and beg ben repaints. so i can't comment on stalker, neo-viper commander, dusty, or the desert claws yet.

i must say, there is a big difference from seeing pictures of these things or even seeing them at a con behind a glass case and really having them in your hands and up close and personal and i can say also, that they are much better when you've got them in hand.

 

now, what i'm gonna say next might bring me some bashing, but hey it's just my opinion. despite the slightly larger shoulders (c'mon, it's not really that much), for their scale, i think these new figures are better proportioned and more attractive (broad shoulders are more masculine, c'mon). a lot of people argue that the old ones look more realistic, but i beg to differ. for their scale, they are more realistically proportioned than the older ones. some of the older ones in comparison look stubby, with big heads, less sculpt detail, more cartoony. anyway, i know i'ma get bashed for that. but hey, those of you who know me here, know i've never been a part of an argument and i don't aim to start a flame war. that's a waste of time.

 

anyway, both firefly and nunchuk have sixteen points of articulation (the average on the original joes would be twelve). i like the added articulation, and allows for more dynamic posing, and i don't feel it really hampers the design or the size and shape of the figure. i wish the enhanced articulation was standard on all or most of the new figures, at least the swivel wrists, swiveling thighs and ankles wouldn't be so necessary with every figure, but wrists do make a considerable difference.

 

one thing i must say that i'm not completely happy about is the o-ring on these new figures. it almost makes me prefer the wave 1 t-crotch. but only almost. i just don't know if it's the newer plastic, or the o-ring itself, or even the angled hook holding the o-ring (why is it angled?). but, they're just not tight like the originals, and their waists have trouble staying straight. zartan stubbornly stays with his back arched, and firefly is stays facing left a tiny bit. or is it just mine? i don't have this problem with nunchuk, but i think that may be due to that separate belt piece between the torso and the crotch piece. and scarlett's good, she's not loose at all. :wink:

 

anyway, there's a couple things i noticed that i wasn't aware of beforehand. i knew of all of firefly's articulation points, as well as nunchuk, even in his ankles. but i wasn't aware scarlett has a swivel thigh, only one though, in her left thigh. i can't say i find it necessary, especially since it's only in one leg. but, so far i've only found it useful to give her a better jump kick pose. another thing is zartan's hood is removable. did anyone state this previously? i knew it would be a separate piece, but i thought it would have been glued on. nothing to get excited about, but it is kinda cool (and funny) to have zartan without his hood.

 

as for the repaints. not much difference here from the previous versions. i don't really like big ben's new colors, i think the wave 1.5 color scheme was his best to date. i do like mirage's new colors better, more subdued and realistic than the last version. i like the red alley viper, but i won't be army building with this guy in that color like i did the blue ones. i think i'll use him as a commander, like the red neo viper commander. and on mine, his face shield won't stay closed. :-? unfortunately, i was disappointed with this viper repaint. the green ones with primer gray boots look good compared to this one, but that's just me. he's in a weird purple camo. purple isn't bad, especially on bad guys, the new pilot claws in purple looks great, but this one, coupled with the black and that weird light blue-purple metallic visor just looks... well, i could say worse, but i'll just say it looks off.

 

all in all, i'm enjoying the new sculpts. all of the newsculpt figures in wave 2 get better paint schemes in later waves, which makes a good difference particularly on stalker (darker green) and zartan (darker pants and covered chest). as for dusty, don't knock him by his colors alone, his version with the sand razor (even if the vehicle sucks) is just right if you ask me.

 

lastly (sorry, i know this is long winded), i have to say the new scarlett is now one of my all time favorite figures. i recall people saying she looks too masculine but, put her next to the original and the original seriously looks like a man. and if you want to talk about the face alone, the original is just fugly compared to the new one. the new one may have a lack of makeup making her look less like girlie, but if you look at her sculpt closely (meaning you have to have the figure to do this, you can't judge from pictures), she has a very feminine sculpt, almost too feminine to be an ass kickin' chick. but i'm not complaining. she is an awesome figure, tall and slender, with all the right curves. for her scale, she has a really great bust, no other g.i. joe female figures have had a chest as well defined as hers. and for those knockin' the shoulders, they're really not as big as they look in pictures, though they are still a little larger than proper proportions, but as a figure it adds that toughness that a female character on the joe team should have.

 

now, i'm looking forward to baroness, but i don't think they'll be fixing her hair, so whereas i do like the baroness as a character more than scarlett, i'll probably like the scarlett figure more.

Anyone know of any good sites for custom action figures... All I can ever find are StarWars figures.

I'm looking into buying a ring on ebay, one of "The One" rings with the elfin inscription about "one ring to rule them all..." They seem to average in price at about $15. For this amount, I don't expect much, but this is a gift and it may actually be worn, so I don't want something that looks like it's come from a gumball machine. Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between all of the rings available, as far as quality is concerned? Are they all by the same licensed toymaker, only different versions (often in different boxes), or are there many comanies producing rings, some better than others?

Hi, I don't usually post in forums but I figured it would be good idea to let you all know, that the new assortment of GiJoe figures are out. I work at TRU and just happened to be covering a fellow who was sick today, and was able to help unload the truck (I normally work as a sales floor clerk). We only recieved one case, so it probably means they are just starting to trickle out. Me and a buddy cracked the case open to gander at the figures and were superised to see that among the new sculpts and repainted army builder packs, that Cobra Commander and Duke were again included in ths assortment, but what really sucks is that they were the same old ones and not the repaints. So essentially the army builder packs are short packed because they are still shipping Duke and the commander. However the new O-ring figures are absolutely beautiful and definitely worth the wait!

 

If your curious, no I did not get any of the figures. Believe it or not, I ordered a whole case from gijoesforsale last night thinking that it would be a while before I'd see the new guys!

 

And if your into Transformers we also recieved Rodimus Major(hot rod) and Ultra Magnus too.
