A live-action television series inspired by Lee Falk’s renowned comic strip The Phantom is currently in development, as reported by Variety. Reginald Hudlin (House Party) will both direct and produce the series, which is being developed by King Features, a subsidiary of Hearst. The Phantom, a forerunner to characters such as Superman and Captain America, first appeared 90 years ago and is credited as the first costumed superhero.

In addition to his work in film and television, Hudlin has considerable experience in the comic book industry. He previously authored Black Panther for Marvel Comics and is now a co-owner of Milestone Media, a comic book company. Notably, a feature film based on Milestone's Static Shock character is also presently in development.

The Phantom first came to live-action in a 1943 15-part movie serial starring Tom Tyler. There was also a 1996 feature film starring Billy Zane and a 2009 Syfy miniseries with Ryan Carnes in the title role.

I’m excited for this but not sure if I would like to see it period set like the comics or a more modern take on it , I guess if they make the suit look a little more then the classic spandex it may work better, I always felt a slightly more tactical style design would make him more intimidating
