Hasbro Star Wars: The Black Series Night Trooper, Dathomir Witch and Imperial Royal Guard (Halloween Edition) Review and Images

It's Wednesday and you know what that means: ToyFarce review!

This week, we're having a look at this year's Star Wars: The Black Series Halloween Edition Figures from Hasbro. We only had gotten a couple of Halloween ones every few years, but this time, we got 3: a Night Trooper, a Dathomir Witch and an Imperial Royal Guard. I'm glad that they keep doing those goofy holiday-themed figures (and have come up with a few of my own over the last few years), and the Halloween theme suits those figures the best!

The Night Trooper (Halloween Edition) comes dressed as a mummy, complete with staff and a werewolf Porg (wereporg?). The Night Troopers, as seen in the Ahsoka series, already looked zombie-like, with their patched-up armors and parts, and the addition of a soft-goods mummy costume on top of the armor was a fun idea. I also like that the armor and helmet have a matte finish, giving it a great look. The Night Trooper is available at Walmart in the US.

The Dathomir Witch (Halloween Edition) uses the Asajj Ventress body, with green skin giving her a bit of a 'Wicked' look. She comes with a soft-goods witch hat, a broom, a staff, her 2 lightsabers and a black bogling. What would a witch be without a black bogling, right? The broom is a bit weird, as it looks more like cat (or wookiee?) hair has been glued at the end of a staff, but the witch hat is very nice (although a bit hard to get in the right style). The Dathomir Witch is a "fan-channel" exclusive and is available in multiple places. Fun fact: Nika Futterman, the voice actress of Asajj Ventress also performed the "Give it to me, baby" vocals in the Offspring's 1998 hit single "Pretty Fly for a White Guy". True story!

Last but not least, the Imperial Royal Guard (Halloween Edition) came as an awesome glow-in-the-dark ghost, with a skull pattern on his helmet (which looks a bit like the Punisher logo). He comes with his staff, a small blaster and a green bogling with red eyes (not sure about this one, since the Dathomir Witch already had a bogling with her. This could have easily been something else). The Imperial Royal Guard is entirely made of glow-in-the-dark plastic, including his staff and blaster, and he has a soft-goods cape covering his body. I left it for a few minutes in the sun, and that thing really glows HARD. Perfect if you need a night light! The Imperial Royal Guard is a Target exclusive in the US.

You can get the Dathomir Witch along with the previous years' Star Wars: The Black Series Halloween Edition figures from our sponsor BigBadToyStore.
