DC Page Punchers 7" Batman Reborn Robin (Damian Wayne) Figure Preview

I like the idea of the 7inch Page Punchers using existing comics and the designs from them. Nothing against the old model of new comics and new designs, but as a long time comics reader, I appreciate getting classic looks more. So I hope to see more Page Punchers like this.

Nah, I think that I'll just stick with by Rebirth version of Damian. I can't remember who else is supposed to be in this wave, but I'm sure that Jay will be posting those soon.

I know the placed him next to an unmasked Deathstroke, so I guess he's part of the same wave

Shown below is a preview image for the upcoming DC Page Punchers 7" DC Rebirth Deathstroke figure from McFarlane Toys. This figure along with the DC Page Punchers 7" Batman Reborn Robin (Damian Wayne) will go up for pre-order on September 5th. Look for it to be available at places like our sponsors BigBadToyStore.com and Entertainment Earth.

I don't know about this Robin.  Reusing the Infinite Frontier legs when they clearly don't fit this costume, and just trying to paint over the difference... I'm kind of waiting for the day when McFarlane stops cheaping out and half-assing these things just to save a buck.  They've been on a sales roll for a while now, maybe it's time to get back to putting that money towards new sculpts for new figures, instead of this non-stop retrofitting and repainting they've been feeding us for the last few years.

Every line reuses. Theyre legs and most people arent going to know that. I collect all of them and I have no idea what gets reused nor do I care. Theyre just legs and i think the figure looks great.

So the question then becomes does Deathstroke come with both heads, or is one a Platinum variant? Like Damian, I already have a Rebirth Deathstroke, but I might consider buying this one if it comes with both heads.

Cool.  In the meantime I'm going to imagine a day when McFarlane gets back to putting out figures that fully match the costume they're attempting to replicate, and the people who don't care, don't know, or don't notice can continue to buy McFarlane's lazy half-assery.  And then of course buy it again when the more accurate version comes out a year later.  And then buy it again when they put out the hyper-exclusive Platinum Gold Label Day-Glow version.

Yes, and I'll buy them all. And I'll do the same with Marvel Legends, Star Wars, Transformers and all the rest given they all do it.

And they're still legs. It doesn't matter.

In your heart of hearts, I think you already know the answer.

There's a picture of the Deathstroke in package in this thread and/or the news page. It comes with both heads.

Yes, but those pics weren't available when Robert and I were having that discussion. Including the unmasked head was ultimately the deciding factor for me to go ahead and pre-order Deathstroke, although that should have been the case the first time I bought this figure. I'm not happy about buying it twice just to be able to get that head. I also don't like this new(er) Page Puncher packaging since I don't generally open my McFarlane DC Multiverse figures and I strongly prefer the packaging to all match. I still primarily display my Mattel DC Universe Classics collection instead because I prefer that scale. Damian was an easy skip for me because I prefer the earlier Rebirth version.

I ordered a Robin. I have one for my Bat Family shelf, but I wanted another for the Justice League/ general DC good guy shelf. I already have a similar Deathstroke on my villains shelf.

Do you think this is the only two figures in this Page Punchers wave? Odd to only have two and not be themed from a singular story.

Hey, feel free to be as indiscriminating in your collecting as you like, it's not my job to set your personal standards.  But lazy, half-assed efforts are lazy, half-assed efforts, and I am going to point them out whenever I see them.  That there's an audience out there that doesn't care and will buy whatever gets dangled in front of them doesn't really change that.  Most companies will re-use but it's typically just standard bucks, and sculpts or parts that make sense for the character (or at least come close).  I don't see the Marvel Legends team painting over Wolverine hands with a different color and calling them Cyclops' gloves.  They're hardly flawless mind, (looking at you, Abomination-Ch'od) but most of the time the re-use makes sense.  Don't get me started on Transformers though, their re-use is just as bad as McFarlane.

Here's some fun examples though, just because:

Lots of people like McFarlane's figures (although, I think, maybe a portion of that is people like DC characters and he's the only game in town), but to say that Hasbro is as lazy or weird in its parts reuse as McFarlane is inaccurate.  RobertD cited some very bizarre examples of McFarlane's parts reuse (his love of that zip-up Catwoman torso is unbelievable) so I won't belabor the point.  I will just say that I think he's right.

Wow. I remember the early days of McFarlane with the DC license and all the heaps of praise for how much better they supposedly were than Hasbro, with "all original sculpts" and other things. Well, hello, Deathstroke. Nothing but a repaint. The colors are not as good as the previous version. On top of that, they stand in stark contrast to the artwork, which is FAR darker. The weapons on this are much better than the silly sword with the original, BUT...a knife sheath with no knife. McFarlane is capable of so much good with their products, but it's like they have some unpublished rule that they can never fully deliver on that potential in any individual offering.
