In 1992, the first SPAWN comic broke sales records, and by 1995, the launch of the initial Spawn action figure set new standards in the toy industry. Now, Todd McFarlane is partnering with Kickstarter to bring a remastered version of the iconic 1995 MEDIEVAL SPAWN action figure and comic. The 2024 Medieval Spawn figure will be the most detailed yet, available in three color variations: classic blue and red, bold black, and an all-gray artist's proof. Backers can choose between autographed and non-autographed versions, with an autographed premium 3-pack also available. With the potential to unlock up to 14 bonus accessories through stretch goals, this campaign promises excitement. With production of the figures already underway, we will begin shipping to many backers during the holiday season, with some backers receiving their figures before Christmas.

KEY FEATURES:

- Each figure includes a comic with original art on the cover by the award-winning Todd McFarlane.
- THREE Color Variations:

• Standard Accessories: Long Sword, Round Shield, Classic Helmet, Right and Left Ornate Forearm Pads, Classic Chest Plate, and Skull Chain.
• Exclusive Accessories for Each Color Variant:

• All-Gray Artist Proof Medieval Spawn: Valkyrie Helmet and Hamburger Head with Closed Mouth
- Each figure will be packaged in resealable blister packaging; faithfully recreating the 1995 design; packaged within a collector box with an added slipcover for protection.
- Figures will be shipped worldwide, with all backers responsible for their estimated shipping costs.
• Additional charges, such as regional taxes or customs fees, are NOT included and will vary based on your location.

Additionally, if the campaign reaches its TBA goals, backers can receive up to 14 FREE BONUS ACCESSORIES, providing even more options for customizations and display.

This was 4 years in the making and they look absolutely fantastic. Love the hyper detailing and the same as the previous Kickstarter there will be 3 variations as well as autographed editions. I'm thinking the price will be $50 each and it will definitely reach all the goals and beyond.

For sure will be in on this Kickstarter.

I had the OG medieval Spawn right when it came out. Might be in for a blue and AP version. The detailing is absolutely sick. I was going to add 'Can you imagine an entire line of ultra detailed fantasy characters like this..' but I guess that's Mythic Legions 😄

And ML fall apart very easy too so it's like being in the 90s!

Not a fan of Spawn really, but this is absolutely amazing.  Depending on the price I just might have to buy this.  The Roman helmet is just so cool looking.

It looks good, but also doesn't interest me much, it's just another Spawn variant, I have far too many of, at the price and being a kickstarter I'm not amused, I wouldn't even likely be moved by this as a regular release, I'm just so over Spawn figures I guess after having bought them since the dawn of collecting, super happy for people who are into this, I wanted to be into this, but I'm just Spawned out.

It actually looks amazing. I saw this at Comic Con in San Diego. It was even more detailed than I expected, and finding out that there's a black variant makes me very happy. The stretch goal accessories are ****ing wild (and look great in person, too), and I really hope this does well enough to unlock them all. I thought I was "Spawned out," too a while back, but I was willing to make an exception for this. After seeing it in person, I definitely am.

My original thought on this was that it wasn't too bad for $58. I think I paid $40 or $50 for the last version he did a couple of years ago that wasn't anywhere near as good, but then I saw the shipping of $25 and I was instantly out. There's a very large difference for me between $58 and $83 or a 7-inch action figure. Honestly neither price is justified, but I can swallow hard at $58. At $83, it's a hard "no." $25 is about what I'm willing to pay for a 7-inch figure to begin with. The $25 shipping cost to me represents a big middle finger from the Toddfather.

I'm quite surprised that it funded so easily and quickly, but am happy for those who want it and believe it's a value.

$25 shipping suggests Todd is going to drive it to your house and personally drop it off.

Or that he's shipping them individually from Hong Kong for some reason.  I guess if you want it a few weeks faster, then it might be worth it. But $25 is very steep.

Shipping is steep but I'm probably still in for a black one and a blue one, or maybe even a 3 pack, especially if Todd comes in with his first update and says all or most of the bonus accessories are already unlocked. This thing is already over $920,000. It would suck of he said those don't start until $1.5 million or something.

Given that Todd knew this was going to fund before he put it up (he's already started making the figures), I wonder what kind of arrangement he has with Kickstarter. It seems almost like it's a promotional item for them as well as McFarlane.  I can't imagine he's giving them their usual 10% (or whatever) when he could have just pocketed the full amount.

The news on the main page isn't directing to this thread, so I'll give a couple updates here and then continue with my thoughts.
It hit a million dollars on day one and then slowed down significantly. So far, Todd seems to be only "giving away free stuff" (as he puts it) one or two things at a time every $250,000. With the number of bonus items, he seems to be shooting for around $3.5 million, which would be slightly higher than what the last Spawn Kickstarter made. Ordinarily I would think that reasonable, but that last Spawn Kickstarter campaign was in the spring of 2020 at the height of the Covid 19 pandemic. People were traveling less and directed more of their spending toward hobbies. Collectors are generally more focused and frugal now, and whether Todd wants to admit it or not, this Medieval Spawn Kickstarter is competing with the GI Joe Classified Rattler Haslab for collectors' money (no, not every Spawn fan is a GI Joe fan, and not every GI Joe fan is a Spawn fan, but there is overlap). I know it's only day three, but I expect it to slow down more and more (it's currently a little over $1.4 million). It will pick up speed in the final day or days, but I have my doubts this gets higher than $3 million or even $2.75 million. And I really want to see everything unlocked or given away or however Todd wants to put it, because I really want that big ornate shield (IMO, it seems like a better match than the less detailed and rather primitive looking Spawn logo shield) as well as that big axe, which I'm guessing, Todd is saving for last.

With the $1 million milestone, Todd McFarlane has released a new video laying out some more extra accessories that will now be included with the figure(s). You will now get the following:

• Sword
• Sword Sheath that will sit on the figures back
• Small Axe
• Extra Roman helmeted headsculpt
• Spawn Logo Collar Chain
• Magnetic Big Spike Gauntlet

I have the mass release Medieval Spawn and I'm happy with it.  This thing is stunning but for 83 dollars...yeah Todd better personally deliver it and when I open it...it better cook me dinner.  That is STEEP in this economy....especially seeing as the Kickstarter funding so far has blown the original baseline waaaayyyyy out the water

This means no one was backing the gray one. I was going to back this before it ended, but I was only doing the non-gray ones. I like this silver one, so if it's a freebie then I'll bite.

The Silver isn't a "freebie" it's taking the place of the Gray one so you still have to buy the figure.  I guess the paint could considered a freebie LOL ;)

I do like the new "pewter" version quite a bit, so I guess I'll have to think a little harder about what I'm going to back, because I was only considering blue and black.
It also looks like Todd is going to be doing something about the high shipping costs, so that hopefully will assuage some people.
I'm still waiting for him to "give away" that large axe. With just under seven days left (I know the counter says 6 days, but it ends the morning of the 19th), Todd really should be "giving away" something each day to get some momentum going again. The campaigns getting a little pickup from the "pewter" upgrade, but with every extra that people know they're getting, the better the value.
