JoeFest 2024 - Super7 G.I. Joe ReAction+ (O-Ring) Figures Revealed

Recommended Posts

Shown below are my images from the Super7 booth at the 2024 JoeFest convention which kicked off today. You can check out the debut of their new ReAction+ G.I. Joe figures which feature the classic 3 3/4" o-ring design. The + stand for o-ring and the screw on the back of the figures. Also they have some neck movement. These will be available at Target and places like our sponsors BigBadToyStore.com and Entertainment Earth. The figures shown are unpainted prototypes and the cost will be $20 like the regular ReAction figures.

Also shown is the upcoming Red Shadow Trooper Escape Armor Super Cyborg figure which will be released as a Pulse Exclusive.

Looking great, I think it's exactly what the O-ring diehards have been hoping for. I'll probably get a few myself despite moving mostly to Classified, I still have a few vintage figures. The suited Crimson Twins set looks especially cool.

Why no colours ?

These are the tests shots. Tests shots are usually made with whatever plastic material happens to be around.

They look great but I don't really understand it. Does this mean Hasbro is out of the 3" game but would potentially still make the vehicles?

Yes. They're busy with Classified. The whole point of offloading to Super7 was so they didn't have to take the risk, plus Super7 specializes in the scale and wants to do it. Their current GI Joe Reaction line is some of their best and some of my favorite Joe figures ever made, so these are in good hands. I don't know if we'll get vehicles or not. They'll be making characters in the Sunbow style and from the comic. They'll probably do o-ring for potentially any other line that has reaction so we could get Thundercats, Transformers, or whatever they decide to do with it.

It's been rumored that Hasbro is going to shift back to 3.75" and get away from 6" going forward because of how expensive everything has gotten. I think they're testing the waters with the Ghostbusters o-ring set. They're losing money so they need to do something.

I hope these do well.  A month or two ago I was in a toy shop and came across the first two Joes I got as a kid.  Got me all wrapped up in the nostalgia when I picked them up.  Would love to expand my collection, (as so many O-rings rubber bands did not survive the ravages of time).

Hilariously whoever took those pictures seemed to go out of their way to NOT show blonde Cover Girl. :)

This seems a rumor started by bitter TVC collectors.  1:12 scale is unlikely to go away.  Traditionally, the wisdom is that 1:12 figures aren't much more expensive than 1:18 and they can charge much more. Two of Hasbro's only successful lines are Legends and Classified.  Plus, we know a Classified HasLab is coming at SDCC.

Giving Super7 the go ahead to do 1:18 O-ring figures after the line failed at Pulse seems to point in the other direction.

Shown below are packaged images for Super7's G.I. Joe Ultimates 7" Wave 5 figures which were on display at this weekends JoeFest convention. This wave includes Major Bludd, Cover Girl, Crimson Guard and Roadblock. This wave is available at places like our sponsors BigBadToyStore.com and EntertainmentEarth.

I also talked to Brian Flynn who tells me G.I. Joe Ultimates will continue beyond this wave and we should be seeing more figures at SDCC next month.

For Super7's O-ring line, 1st off, I'm glad to see that they have Swivel Arm Battle Grip, since I think the pics of the O-Ring Vipers that would of came with the now Cancelled Cobra Mothership didn't look like they had them.

2nd off, from this 1st Wave, I know for sure I'll get Blonde Cover Girl, and maybe the Cobra BAT.  For Cobra Commander, it might depend on the shade of Blue used, as I don't think I'll need Snake Eyes or the Business Suit Crimson Twins.  Though I will admit, if they do a very unique deco Cobra Commander or Snake Eyes(Such as Python Patrol, Tiger Force, Glow Force, etc.), I'll consider them down the road.  Am looking forward to how they handle the line, especially if they go unique and deep like their regular ReAction Joes.

While I don't or haven't collected any Joe Ultimate Lines, since it sounds like it's continuing, good for those who do collect it.  If I ever did, I would be even more super selective on who I get and which version/theme deco of the character as well.  Sort of doing this with Classified, but if I ever went into Ultimates, would be even more so.

Those look better than I would have expected.  But I think people might require a whole new collection to use the cartoon-focused designs. These would be hard to work into a classic ARAH display.

I admit I prefer cartoon looks but I wonder if that's what people were expecting.

Not saying it's what happened but these figures could be online returns.  I believe Target will take back anything ordered online at their stores.

These do look pretty amazing. I may have to decide whether to drop classified and move to these. I don’t think I could afford both honestly.

Yeah I contemplated that myself after seeing these Pups, these really hit the nostalgic button, But I'm so far into the trenches with Classified that scraping that for this seems insaneo, but I mean I guess I could be a collect both kinda person, but then is that too much Joe taking up precious toy real estate? 🤔

probably just wait to see if I ever see these in hand, also I;m always worried they do like 5 waves and then just slam the door on this line and I moan about it.

With Super7, the risk of the line being shut down midstream (or at the beginning, like the Disney lines) is very real.  Plus, it's likely these will come out significantly slower than the regular Reaction figures.
