Target's Geek-Out Event Returns This Week On June 14 Starting With McFarlane Toys

Recommended Posts

The other day we told you how Target had announced that their Summer Geek-Out event will begin this Friday (6/14) starting at 8am CT and run through July 19th. Each Friday between those dates Target will list new collectible pre-orders from a variety of companies that often include the likes of Hasbro, McFarlane, Funko, LEGO and more. No clues for exactly which companies will be participating this year but when those details become available we will be sure to let you know.

Today Todd McFarlane announced that the event will kick-off this Friday with some Gold Label McFarlane Toy exclusives. He didn't give any specifics but likely at the very least we will likely see the new Target Exclusive Batman: The Animated Series 6" wave that will include H.A.R.D.A.C, Poison Ivy, Phantasam, Bane, Robot Batman and Bruce Wayne Build-A-Figure go up for pre-order that was previously announced at WonderCon.

When more details become available we will be sure to let you know.

It appears the four DC Direct redo figures don't have cel shading, but the new B-A-F Bruce Wayne in a suit does. Interesting choice by McFarlane to continue to do that on the B-A-F figures. Target must like this series of figures since they are going to probably make this wave an exclusive.

is Bruce the only one with Cel Shading in this wave? have they been mixing them in waves like this? i haven't been paying attention, seems weird tho

Sure looks that way, to which I say "good."  I don't like cell shading in general, but McFarlane's forays into it are worse than average.

the only Cel Shading that i think works really well is on those X-Men busts by Gentle Giant/Diamond

i don't get the mixing McFarlane is doing, either do it, or don't.

McFarlane Toys today announced that along with the Batman: The Animated Series 6" wave that will include H.A.R.D.A.C, Poison Ivy, Phantasam, Bane, Robot Batman and Bruce Wayne Build-A-Figure wave of 6" figures we told you about the other day, we will also see their re-issue of the DC Direct 6" scale BTAS Batmobile vehicle go up for pre-order during the first week of the Target Geek-Out event which kicks off tomorrow (6/14) at 8am CT/9am ET.

The image released today is a teaser and doesn't give us a good look at it, but you can see the original release of this vehicle below in our GALLERY. It's unknown if the new one will be exactly the same or it might have some slight alterations with paint or such.

The Target Geek-Out event will run each Friday and go until July 19th. Each week will feature products from various companies.

If you want to see the original DC Direct vehicle you will have to go here. https://toynewsi.com/14-53170

I've still got this Batmobile from the first time it was released and have never gotten around to opening it. The same is true for the original DC Direct / DC Collectibles BTAS Batwing release (and the McFarlane one). Still in their original boxes packed away in my basement. Did I miss the Robot Batman reveal? Is that supposed to be something different other than HARDAC? I've already got HARDAC and Phantasm from their original releases and don't care about the Bruce BAF. I don't think that I have a Robot Batman from this line.... I've got one from the Batman '66 line.

Im assuming robot Batman is Hardac. It could be the Platinum version of Hardac if there is one. Hopefully we get a Batwing and Bat Signal reissue out of this since those are all I lack from the original release and I dont want to spend $500-1,000 to get one.

The Bruce Wayne baf is a must have since we never got a Wayne in the original line outside of old man Wayne from the Batman Beyond 3-pack.

Shown below are Target's Summer Geek-Out Event McFarlane Toys drops for this week, including:

DC Multiverse Metallo figure
DC Multiverse Fire figure
DC Multiverse Rookie and Mister Bloom two-pack
DC Multiverse Joker and Punchline two-pack with Jorge Jiménez autograph card
Batman the Animated Series Batmobile

Target also released a video of Todd McFarlane talking about those figures on the Summer Geek-Out page.
All items will be available later this morning at 8am CT.

Note the BTAS wave originally announced during WonderCon is not going up today (Which is a bit surprising) but never-the-less I guess it will be made available at a later time.

I pre-ordered Fire, Metallo and the Mr. Bloom / Rookie Armor 2-pack. The 2-pack was a lot more than I expected it to be at $69.99! They must consider that Rookie Armor to be a mega-fig. I'm expecting that we'll be seeing other versions of Fire and Metallo soon that aren't Target exclusives but I decided to pre-order these anyway.

I've already got the non-autographed Joker/Punchline pre-ordered at BBTS and I already have that Batmobile from it's original release by DC Collectibles several years ago.

Of these, the Mr. Bloom is easily my most wanted even if the figure looks very plain. All of the money for that 2-pack must have gone into the Rookie armor which I already have the Mattel and DC Collectibles versions of.

For those who never got the original BTAS Batmobile, its a really nice and well made vehicle and this new one is actually cheaper than the orignal. Granted no figures are included but still its a great vehicle.

Immediately went after that Batmobile, but after that was in my cart it wouldn't let me add Fire, just kept saying it hadn't been added every time I clicked the pre-order.  Figured it was out of stock and the website was just being weird.  As soon as I processed the Batmobile order, it allowed me to add her to my cart.  Had to add that dumb Metallo (which I was happily going to skip entirely) just to avoid paying shipping.  Kind of annoying, and I know it's cheaper to just do the shipping, but there's a part of me that refuses to pay for something that I would get free when for just a little more I'll actually get something.

Also, maybe my brain is broken or something, but I thought the next Animated Series wave was going to be a part of this event?

Not gonna lie, I'm a little disappointed that this is the Metallo design the went with, I'll probably skip him

I've very disappointed this is the Metallo design McFarlane went with.
