Hasbro Confirms New Cobra Commander And Lt. Falcon Figures Coming To G.I. Joe Classified Line

The Hasbro G.I. Joe Classified Brand Team in a recent interview with A Toy Kinda Mood revealed that there will be another Cobra Commander and Lt. Falcon figure coming to the G.I. Joe Classified line.

For Cobra Commander this would be in addition to the Once A Man Cobra Commander they announced last month at WonderCon. No other details were given. My guess this will be a Battle Helmet Cobra Commander on retro cardback with a regular Cobra symbol on his chest as opposed to the one that came with the HASLAB H.I.S.S. Tank that  had the Cobra "Mickey Mouse" type symbol. If that is the case it would be great if Hasbro also included a hooded headsculpt. I suppose it's possible they could just do a Hooded Cobra Commander or the other likely possibility would be a Battle Armor Cobra Commander.

For the new Lt. Falcon they said it would be released in a new 2-pack. My guess is this will be a NightForce version. In the original line they did a NightForce Lt. Falcon with Sneak Peek which you can see below. I wouldn't be surprised if that's what Hasbro does here as a Walmart exclusive and then eventually we will get a regular version of Sneak Peek in the mainline. We've already gotten a regular Lt. Falcon in the mainline but many people where unhappy with the headsculpt on that figure. Hopefully if the new Lt. Falcon is a NightForce version the headsculpt will be improved. Since the beret would likely be removable on it you could then likely use the new headsculpt on the original figure.

I will get those two for sure and we should expect a new face sculpt for Falcon based on the acknowledgement about the riot collectors made about the first head sculpt... I was amazed that the Hasbro Team acknowledged it and that it will not happen again...😃👍💡 Great interview for those who want to know more about the classified in deep.

If they make a Night Force Falcon and update his uniform accordingly and fix the head, I might buy it. If they release a retro Falcon, which I think may be just as likely, I'll probably pass on it.
A retro (not "Mickey Mouse") CoCo has been heavily rumored for a while now, and the Haslab version had all new tooling, so it seems extremely likely that's what this will be, so they can get as much out of their tooling $ as possible.

Does anybody know what Hasbro’s issue is with Hooded Cobra Commander? And is there any possibility at all they will change there position on not doing a Hooded CoCo. They did a Hooded Baron Zemo for Marvel Legends, what’s there problem??

That's a more loaded question than you know, so I'm going to preface a rather long response with let's avoid a political discussion, as politics have no place on this board. There are rumors that Hasbro has some kind of a mandate against using it again, but no one has any proof that's the case. A few years ago, Brian Flynn from Super 7 said in an interview that he had wanted to make one for their cartoon GI Joe line and was not given permission by Hasbro to do so. He was not given the reason, but it created a lot of speculation, rumors, arguments, and fighting. What of course didn't help was Lorenzo DiBonaventura at Paramount bragging that he had "killed Cobra Commander's hood," because he told Hasbro that he thought it looked like the hoods worn by members of a certain hate group and refused to include it in the movies. Despite rumors to the contrary, Hasbro probably didn't agree with him, as they made at least one Cobra Commander with a hood in 3 3/4" scale and depicted him in that look on clothing since those movies came out (some of that clothing was available the very same year Brian Flynn did that infamous interview), so it's pretty safe to say that Bonaventura is full of it.
The fact is that no one outside of Hasbro actually knows for sure why there hasn't been a hooded Cobra Commander figure in the last seven years. It's been talked about a lot on pretty much every toy board (including this one) and group and frequently took the conversations in bad directions. Again, let's all try very hard to avoid doing that.

Sorry, my bad. Dont want to take the discussion any place ugly…

I just find it weird that Hasbro has done a Hooded villain in one line, Marvel Legends, but won’t touch it in another line. In my mind, CoCo’s and Baron Zemo’s choice of headgear don’t look very different. Ah well, I will still be happy to get another Cobra Commander! 🐍

Cobra Commander and Skeletor are my Favorite Badguys. Something about Grandiose, Over-The-Top villains and there Insults!

That is actually a bit ironic since Zemo has Nazi roots, an infamous, racist hate group, and they gave us the hooded version. I'd be down for a hooded CC. If they want me to sign anything or tour a particular museum first, I'd be okay with that too. Hooded CC is pretty iconic.

I'm going to reiterate that no one actually knows that Hasbro won't make the hood. All we know is that they wouldn't let Super 7 make it, and that could have been for any number of reasons.
Anyway
this already getting political and a little weird, as discussion about Cobra Commander's hood pretty much always does. Hard to avoid it, I guess. (THANKS, LORENZO!)
I'm going to tell everyone one last time to pump the breaks, because I don't want to shut this thread down.

Let's steer things back onto the road a little. Do y'all think we'll get a new head sculpt for the second Falcon figure or just an attempt at better paint/tampos/inkject on the same one? He's apparently coming in a pack, so who or what do y'all think will be in that pack with him? Do y'all think we're getting Battle Armor CoCo or Retro Coco? Does anybody have anything to say about other topics discussed in that interview? If you haven't watched the video, please do. It's a good one.

The hood thing originally came from an interview during one of the GIJoe movies where the producer was asked why they changed Cobra Commander's look and they talked about wanting to get away from the hood thing. Then there was Bryan Flynn from Super7 who said Hasbro would not let him include a hooded head with their Ultimate Cobra Commander.

The Hasbro brand team has never addressed the hood one way or the other nor have I ever heard anyone directly ask them in these kinds of interviews. It might be one of those off-limit type questions but I couldnt say for sure. My guess is Hasbro will eventually find a way to get fans a hooded Cobra Commander but my guess is it would be in some limited way. I don't think its really Hasbro but more the movie studio against the hood. Now with another supposed GIJoe/Transformers movie in the works IDK how that would effect things. Again if I was a betting man I would say sooner or later we will get one but likely after we get a normal Battle Helmet version. It would be cool if they gave us the Battle Helmet version with an alternate hooded head but I doubt that will happen if for no other reason than it's two easy of a way for Hasbro to be able to re-release practically the same figure twice.

I'm leaning toward it being Night Force Falcon rather than retro since Lenny dropped his name "from a pack." I've been doing my darnedest to avoid dipping into the sub-lines but they've been making it tough, man! 😅  I probably would get this Falcon if he doesn't have the same ventriloquist dummy lookin' head but it's really just going to depend on who or what he's packed with.

As for the Cobra Commander they mentioned, I too think it'll just be the retro one with a 'fixed' Cobra print with possibly other minor differences like a shinier faceplate or slightly different shade of blue or maybe his long gloves this time; maybe a cape or maybe alt hood mask, idk.... whatever the case, I'm pretty sure I'd gobble up any redeco/retweak they release based off the retro body because I'm cuckoo for CoCo variations. Battle Armor would also be shweet.

I really think we will get an All New head sculpt for Falcon. Hasbro knows they need to redeem themselves. I’m guessing a Night Force Falcon with Sneak Peek sounds most likely, the Classified team likes to honor there roots while adding there own additions to the legacy. And I think we see a Retro Cobra Commander before Battle Armor CoCo, but either way, I would be happy 😃

So, any ideas who he might be packed with??

I'm thinking it might be "Once a man" Cobra Commander. Chris McLeod doesn't have a spot for that figure in his listings/codenames break down, and Falcon's 2-pack mate is supposed to be an enemy and also not an army builder (imagine how crappy it would be to have to buy an extra bunch of Falcons to get a team of Night Vipers or whatever). Take into account that in the interview above, Emily said, "It's a Cobra Commander kind of year," which implies that the very likely to be Retro CoCo she name dropped won't be the only Cobra Commander released this year, and since the only other CoCo we know of that's coming for sure is that mutated version, it seems he might be a 2024 figure. Couple that with being in the same movie as Falcon, knowing the Joe team's affinity for the movie, and also taking into account how much Lenny has talked about wanting Night Force to be facing off against the strange/unknown/horror elements of Cobra, and that's gonna be my guess.

I don't care who Falcon comes with. If he has a new head then I will get them.  I always liked all of the different decos Falcon had; Night Force, Sonic Fighter and Marauders. I'd take any or all of them.

The folks at Toy Kinda Mood feel confident that Lenny from the G.I. Joe Hasbro brand team was teasing a 1991 Snake-Eyes V4 during their interview earlier this week.

We told you before how Hasbro during that interview revealed another Cobra Commander figure was coming beyond the Once A Man Cobra Commander they announced at WonderCon along with another Lt. Falcon figure that would be released in a new 2-pack.

Beyond that Toy Kinda Mood points out how Lenny was holding up at time mark 6:29 a 1991 Snake-Eyes version 2 figure. There was no reference to this figure during the interview so we can only speculate at this point if this was an actual tease or just something on his desk he was fidgeting with during the interview. Regardless of whether this was a deliberate tease or not I feel it's probably safe to assume this version of Snake Eyes will make it's way to the line sooner or later.

Shown below is a Classified Custom of that version of Snake-Eyes that was done by slicescustoms. Is this a figure you would want to add to your collection?

Didn't seem like a tease to me but yeah never had much doubt that a v4 inspired Snake Eyes would make its way into the line eventually. I'll be all over that and v3.

No ninja toes though, please.

I wonder if Zemo's hooded head would fit on CC's body?
