McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Ambush Bug, Mr. Freeze and Booster Gold Figure Pre-order

Recommended Posts

Nothing? Booster Gold comes with nothing? Just a flight stand? No skeets, no alternate hands? They couldn't even just throw in the accessories he had in the two pack with Blue Beetle? Jeez, well, there goes what I thought would be an instant pre-order. Maybe I'll just bite the bullet, get the two pack and have two Ted Kords, why not?

I pre-ordered Ambush Bug. I'm ecstatic to have this figure even if it's very, very plain outside of the head sculpt. I definitely prefer the colors on this Mr Freeze and Booster compared to their prior releases, but not sure if it's enough to convince me to double dip on these characters. Freeze is probably more likely that Booster for me, but we'll see.

Well, this is kind of a sad offering.  Picking up Mr. Freeze, because those colors are finally perfect, but not loving the double-dip (or in this case, quadruple-dip) nature that has become The Modern McFarlane.

But hey, at least they finally matched the picture with the design on Ambush Bug, eh?

Glad to finally see Ambush Bug in the action figure, that's an achievement in itself, Freeze was solid figure before and it's probably the best paint job so far, Booster gold is definitely lacking, they could have done something way more interesting with his glasses, either paint them with reflection effect or make them translucent.

Well I am glad to see an Amush Bug and I do like the deco on this Booster Gold but do wish these came with extra hands and accessories. Seems like a rather plain offering from Mcfarlane this time around. One other thing I do wish was addressed on these figures is the way the knee and elbow joint cuts are done. They look terrible these Multiverse figures.

Mr. Freeze looks really good when they paint him.

All I can say about Booster is that $23 is now the bare minimum you can pay for a modern day "adult collectible" and it appears that means you are now given the bare minimum content as well.  It's a bummer.  I've cut way, way down on McFarlane (and most other stuff) recently.  However, Mr. Freeze has just enough good stuff going on to warrant me getting him.

(Also a shout out to BBTS.  I had a little snafu that was completely my doing when I preordered Freeze from them, and they fixed my mistake immediately.  They're awesome).
