Veebs has posted his first talk with Super7's Brian Flynn and during this Brian was asked about the future of Disney Ultimates, Super Sized and ReAction Figures as well as The Simpsons Ultimates and ReActions Figures. Unfortunately the Disney License is not moving forward, The Simpsons did not perform as they had hoped and all the lines are cancelled and not moving forward with future products. We will still get what has been shown and available for pre-order but that is the end of the lines unfortunately. It's sad because Brian also revealed that they indeed had sculpts ready for the whole Simpsons family :(

What do you expect when you charge $50 a pop for a 7" figure?

I was willing to pay it for good Simpsons Ultimates figures.  I love the 3 I have and will most likely try and pick up all the Ultimates they have coming out.

...and that's why companies have to be very careful in planning too "long term" with some toy lines. They would have had stronger sales with Simpsons Ultimates to begin with if they had had more of the main characters in their main outfits, and then when people were hooked in to the line, they would have been more likely to buy some of the more obscure characters. Now, fans are going to be left with a random hodgepodge of figures in a discontinued line. There's definitely a strong demand for Simpsons figures, but not at $55.00 bucks a pop for a random mix of figures.

As someone who hated the "Happy Meal" look of the World of Springfield Toys this line was a dream for me.....oh well.

I thought the Disney figures did well? but I don't have much stats to go on, either way in case of The Simpsons figures, I said this from the beginning, they needed to just do the main characters first, people would have bought the family, but nooo they had to be real ambitious and start tossing out D list background characters and variants first wave, so It's kinda there fault I get it, nobody wanted to wait 5 years to complete the Family.

I feel sad for you then Wayne, I imagine a ton of people are sad, it's a bummer, so many people probably invested in collecting these lines and now poof...they can't complete them, likely people will purge a bunch of these collections because of incompletyness.

I never bought one, but I contemplated a few...Alice...yeah you. 😊

I don't have an hour to watch the whole video and see if it's addressed, but I'm assuming Animaniacs Ultimates is also done.

Didn't watch either, but I must presume that any IP owned by the house of Mouse is donezo, so Animaniacs is a goner. but I have not payed any attention to new Animaniacs...is it Disney now?

There's the whole problem, right there. Lead with those! Not having a normal version of the main family members announced was a really silly move.

They had shown Lisa with Maggie, Marge and Willie through ToyCollectr magazine but they never went up for pre-order....

Animaniacs is not part of Disney...

Neither is Thundercats, but it looks like they talked about that in the video, too, so the conversation was not about Disney stuff alone.

I can't say much, since the Ultimates lines are too expensive for me anyway, but if I was buying them, I'd have probably ignored the Simpsons line just because the main thing i'd want is the five family members (maybe package Maggie with Santa's Little Helper and Snowball II). Don't know why anyone would want to start with Homer in a mumu.

though if I had the money I'd probably get the Itchy and Scratchy robots. one smart thing they did was putting those both out at the same time.

For the past 2-3 years Brian mentioned on several interviews about the Disney fans not reacting to the lines because they want all main figures rather than one obscure one or secondary characters... Not sure if it was too late for him to apply an adjustment to that but this is the result of that strategy.  I'm bug fan of Super 7 and I certainly don't enjoy their failure with Disney sin e they are pretty much the only company around doing nostalgia collections that we never thought somebody will pickup, example  ThunderCats, Silverhawks, Conan movie and now TigerSharks...💡😀👌

Dang, I was really hoping we would get Briar Rose and other Sleeping Beauty chars. I would have made great Eyevind Earl dioramas.

Glad I got the Simpsons ones I did.

Super7 did not get the Princess license, which is separate from some of Disney's other brands.  So I don't think we were ever going to see Cinderella, Aurora, Rapunzel, Moana, etc.  I got the Alice (arguably the only A-Lister they did other than Mickey) and she is just so-so.  I would have been intrigued by Princesses, but that was about the only thing that would have made me buy more Disney figures from Super7.

I think that's my biggest issue with Super7- most of their Ultimates figures are decent, but not amazing. I think they were trying to appeal to some other folks who might not have been familiar with them as a company, but $45-$55 for a single action figure is going to be a hard sell. I think they would have had much better look cutting down on the accessories, and making the packaging less complex, to bring the MSRP down. Some other Disney fans might have taken more of a chance with $29.99 figures, and then Super7 could have increased the pricing and accessories after a couple of waves. As it is, even a lot of longtime collectors have gotten turned off, or at least less enthusiastic, about them as a company. They just haven't improved their quality control in several years. I was pretty much "all in" with their Thundercats Ultimates, but loose joints and sloppy paint jobs, coupled with the increasing price, made me cancel a bunch of Super7 pre-orders. I'll probably snag some must-haves (Hachiman, Chilla, Snarf, etc.), but it's really hard to justify their pricing when I can buy 2-and-a-half Mattel Masterverse figures, which have much better quality control, for the price of one Super7 Ultimate figure. Sure, different licenses, but I collect a lot of different toy lines, and my spending money is finite. For $55.00, these should be top-notch figures, and they just aren't.

Unfortunately, I don't think this will be the last line cancellation for them - because it's mostly the same circumstances, I'm pretty sure the Star Trek TNG line is going to go the same way.

They keep getting these licenses to attract new collectors, but the character selection is just terrible, and price point is just too high.  The Ultimates lines are also very hard to get into collecting later because of their pre-order methods, so they inherently limit people getting involved if and when they actually get to demanded characters.  Their sales strategy just needs a lot of work.

Basically, they discourage all but the most hard core, all-in from the start collecting, and just don't deliver the value with the price points they sell at.  When you look at what other companies are doing for 1/2 the price, it's just no wonder they aren't selling.

The first wave of Simpsons was truly just awful as well.  3 one-off "pet" characters, 1 one-off variant of a popular character we haven't even seen a "normal" version for yet, and Moe - the only legit one in the batch, really.  And much as folks love Moe - that just wasn't enough, and everything else way too random.  It was clear it was going to be years before they even intended to complete the main family - and who really wants shelves/displays full of one-off characters before you get the main ones?

Brian and his buddies at Super7. It's pretty clear when they get these licenses, they focus on putting out the characters THEY want made. Somebody at S7 wanted Poochie, that flamethrowing boss guy, etc.

I'm still gonna get the Big Bad Wolf and the Queen of Hearts, but I'd love to have had a White Rabbit and Cheshire cat at minimum to go with that Alice collection we started. It would be cool if Boss Fight started putting out Disney stuff like they do their Popeye collection.
