McFarlane Toys DC Direct The New Batman Adventures Animated Series Wave 1 Figures

These are the designs I love, but I already own the DC Direct versions of Batgirl (favorite character ever) and Batman from the TNBA.  Bring on a less green skinned Ivy (her skin is gray, DC Direct) and I'm all in.

so wait, now the new ones don't have the cell-shading? are we gonna see a rerelease of the previous ones with out it now?

I have the same doubt. Wasn't the cell-shading and Build-a-figure the main selling points of this figures.  These ones have neither.

And as usual for Mcfarlane, that Two Face has no guns.

It's not McFarlane, it's WB. They don't want toys of their figures released with guns because "guns bad".

I'll get a Nightwing from this line if they do it. But the last of consistency is.... odd

What lack of consistency? You do realize this is an old DC Direct line from 10,000 years ago? I can't remember if they did a Nightwing (which I should given I have almost the entire line....release the Batwing and Batmobile/Bat Signal sets, McFarlane), but if they did I'm sure it's coming soon enough. Not sure why we're not getting build a figure parts with this branch of the line. The 2nd wave of the BTAS line features not only a new BAF character but the Batman and Joker are new versions, so If no Nightwing then he'll probably make one provided this line is selling.

It's already been said, but WB has banned guns from their figure lines, so TM's hands are tied on this. He may sneak specific characters' weapons into his weapons packs so check those as they come out. There are 3 packs as of this post.

Glad they're stepping away from the cell shading, so many perfectly good figures get ruined by that.  No build a figure piece but how much do you want to bet that these retail for $25 at a minimum anyway?  Honestly, I suspect these will be closer to $30, maybe 27.99 or something.  Especially since the newest Walmart Golds are going up to $30 and heads aside those are already pure re-use.  I think we're about to see prices go up across the board with McFarlane, plain and simple.

I think the Cell Shading is only for the Target stuff....I could be wrong

That'd be nice, but hopefully it just ends altogether.  Does anybody out there prefer it over "normal" looking versions?  I didn't care for them much on the Legends X-Men/Spider-man stuff, but the McFarlane attempts seemed particularly poorly done.

Depends on the property for me.  X-men stuff wasn't so bad.

I'm glad that I can skip these. Adding Condiment King and Lock-Up as Collect to Build the BTAS figures was just cruel. Had to have them, but absolutely did not want any of the figures you had to buy to build them. I remember really liking that Killer Croc with Baby Doll when I bought it when it first came out under DC Direct / DC Collectibles years ago. I'm pretty sure that I bought a white or gray variant of Croc at that time as well that I later sold off.

I was a bit surprised to see that there was no BAF with this wave 1 of TNBA figures. I thought they'd include a Penguin or Mad Hatter figure since so many fans have requested them over the years. If these Batman Animated waves continue, I do hope new villains are included in them as BAFs.

We could potentially get them. The figures released in the waves on the BTAS side are a mix of previously released molds and a combo of old tooling with new parts to give us never before released variants like that trenchcoat/hat Joker and Blind as a Bat Batman. So far TNBA has had zero new parts nor BAF. Not sure why they chose the animation cel route. Who in the hell wants a miniature animation cel. This stinks of POTF2 SW circa the 90s.

The Platinum versions are legit variants, too. Gordon's is from a BTAS comic cover and the Batgirl one is straight up the Burnside suit. Not sure about Scarecrow but probably something more like Gordon.

I think you might be mistaken. The Platinum Batgirl is Yvonne Craig's colors:

I was hoping the Platinum Scarecrow would include his original head (which no one has ever done and would be my favorite if they ever did it).  But it's just a weirdly colored version:
