In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all started – the iconic New York City firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who’ve developed a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

Directed by Gil Kenan, this film was written by Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan. It is based on the 1984 film "Ghostbusters," which was originally written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis for an Ivan Reitman production. The film is produced by Jason Reitman and Jason Blumenfeld, with executive producers including Dan Aykroyd, JoAnn Perritano, Amie Karp, Eric Reich, and Erica Mills. The talented cast includes Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O'Connor, Logan Kim, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts.

The presence of actual working comedians in this one seems to be a promising sign, considering that they largely forgot the comedy in the last one, perhaps due to being overly focused on member berries. I also appreciate that this actually looks like an original premise and probably isn't just a two-hour rehash of Ghostbusters 2.

Not gonna lie here, this gave me feels, I'm excited about this, looks really fun, and as others have said this seems to feel pretty original, and the fact the OG busters are not just cameos is a really fun thing. I liked the previous film, but I already like what they are doing here more.

I watched the trailer and watched it again and I couldn't do it... I grew up on Ghostbusters and remembered what the movies were like and I see this and ask myself, who is going to believe that some Dad is trying to be cool with his pre-teenagers, running around hunting ghosts?  Ditch the wanna-be cool Dad and his kids, throw in a new group of hunters, and give it a true paranormal experience instead of a storyline saying that Hell has frozen over...

Those aren't his kids, although there was chemistry between him and the Callie in Afterlife so it's plausible he could be Phoebe and Trevor's step-dad now, but Paul Rudd's character was the science teacher.

His kids or not, the Ghostbusters franchise is not what it used to be.  When they start making the Mom a Ghostbuster and it becomes all family-goodie-goodie, it's over with in my book.

I think that was just part of what was wrong with Afterlife, but I completely agree.
