Eli Roth's 'Borderlands' Receives Summer 2024 Release Date

Lionsgate announced that Eli Roth's video game adaptation Borderlands will have an August 9th, 2024 release date.

Eli Roth is directing the feature based on the video game Borderlands created by Gearbox Software and published by 2K.  The screen story and screenplay are written by Eli Roth and Joe Crombie.

Avi Arad and Erik Feig will produce with Tim Miller, Ethan Smith, Louise Rosner, Emmy Yu, Lucy Kitada, Christopher Woodrow, K. Blaine Johnston, Randy Pitchford, and Strauss Zelnick as executive producers.

The cast includes Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Edgar Ramirez, Ariana Greenblatt, Florian Munteanu, Gina Gershon, and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous treasure hunter with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of Atlas (Ramirez), the universe’s most potent S.O.B. She forms an unexpected alliance with a ragtag team of misfits – Roland (Hart), once a highly respected soldier, but now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound, rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis (Curtis), the scientist who’s seen it all; and Claptrap (Black), a persistent wiseass robot. These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. Lionsgate just dropped new images for Borderlands and will be releasing a teaser tomorrow.  The movie is based on the video game from Gearbox Software and 2K.

The movie is set to hit theaters in the U.S. on August 9, 2024.

Never played Borderlands (though I apparently own it on Steam) but this movie looks kinda funny. Gives off Guardians of the Galaxy type vibes a little bit.

This is possibly the worst casting I have ever seen. Like no disrespect for Cate Blanchet and Jaime Lee Curtis but they are at best 20 years too old for those roles. 
Let's not even get into some of the costuming choices, or Kevin Hart and Jack Black, or the decision to include Tina and Krieg...It's just a shame.  

But hey! Bright side right!  August 9th it's Tanis and Lilith as they fight the dreaded osteoporosis and look for the legendary vault in order to find their heart medicine!

That's Cate Blanchett?! When I first caught the trailer out of the corner of my eye I thought I was watching a commercial for the Boys with Firecracker.
