It's going to be the Jurassic Park Compound... makes sense to do it as a crowdfunder, especially since it's the 30th Anniversary!

Hopefully it's reasonably priced...

At $350?

Shown below is the new Mattel Creations Jurassic World the Gates Crowdfunded Project and is available for pre-order as a crowdfunded item from MattelCreations.com with a suggested retail price of $250.00.

We’re celebrating Jurassic Park’s 30th Anniversary with an awe-inspiring crowdfund! It starts with the enormous fan-demanded motorized entry gates and a first-ever Ford Explorer #5. No expense has been spared on recreating the details, and the collector-level execution extends to all the extras you can unlock from each tier. Say the magic word, fund all the extras, and return with us to a time when dinosaurs ruled the earth!

JP is strange to me.  Had a moderate interest with the 6-inch scale stuff, but zero interest since they flipped to the smaller scale.  Which I understand why they did, there are a lot of benefits to scaling down, but the current stuff doesn't seem to target the adult collector audience, and is decidedly more kid-focused.  Which is fine, I think we all understand that's where the real money is, but this, which is for the kid-oriented line, seems to be targeted at the adult collector.  I don't see most parents doing a crowd-fund for their kids' collection, so I'll be curious to see how well this funds, just from a business perspective.

Personally I don't think this will do well, but I've been wrong before, and their target isn't particularly high so I guess we'll see.

. . . Are they |=@(%ing joking?

$250 . . . for . . . a GATE.

Like . . . don't get me wrong, the COMPLETE SET, post-10,000 backers . . . MIGHT . . . ONLY MIGHT . . . be worth $250.

But if it doesn't hit the stretch goals? WORTHLESS. It's a GATE, and a truck that has already been released before at retail. ANY half-decent custom terrain builder could make the gate for, like, $50 bucks TOPS. Motors and lights and sounds? Maybe another $50, MAYBE. Nowadays, custom electronics on that level aren't expensive. And you can get the truck for, like, $40 online nowadays, WITH a T-Rex included! (Not the nice new Hammond T-Rex, but THAT'S not hard to come by either!)

A lot of companies seem to utterly fail to comprehend the concept of "initial offering value vs stretch goal added value," but Mattel? As usual, they Matty things up, this is the WORST disparity I've ever seen!

. . . It's a BIG. PLASTIC. DOOR. FFS!!

At current pace, i don't see this funding unless they open it to international markets.

I watched the livestream earlier and their reasoning made no sense... due to payment issues???  Eternia playset was open to all markets along with other projects.  Still scratching my head over that...

Oh man, I didn't realize most of what was being shown were stretch goals.  Ooof...  I was initially thinking about backing this, but I am sick of stretch goals, so this is probably a pass now.
