New G.I. Joe Classified Listings Including Vehicles

New G.I. Joe Classified listings have popped up online via JTPrime. The listings of course use codenames but the most interesting thing about these is that it appears there are 3 vehicles listed. There also 3 Retro figures listed which is unclear if those are a continuation of the Walmart exclusive line. The final two figures listed have the number 60 in the name. This could be an indication that they are something being released for G.I. Joe's 60th Anniversary which takes place next year.

I have no actual basis for this, but if the codenames bear any sort of correlation between the GI Joe characters and the Hanna-Barbera codenames, then for the retro card figures I am guessing Papa Smurf would be Duke (both are the leaders), Smurfette would be Scarlett (both the main female protagonists) and Gargamel would be Cobra Commander (main villians). I’m likely completely wrong and reading too much into it though…

ummm is that even legal?

Yes. Character names are not protected under copyright law, but they can be trademarked, and a number of these are. However, since these are code names for store listing purposes only and not anything that will actually be on the packaging, it's completely legal.

Wonder if those MMs are CS versions of the Mega Marines. Perhaps they took the MM and moved it to Mystery Machine for the code names.

They're not Mega Marines. MM stands for "Mad Marauders," which was "Slaughter's Marauders" back in the '80s, but now they don't have to pay him for that.

Did we ever see a “Bubbles” before? Having Blossom and Buttercup on that list with a previous Bubbles could maybe give some option as to who it would be :)

No Bubbles. The list of code names before this was authors.
