Mattel's recent WWE Ultimate Edition WCW Monday Nitro Entrance Stage crowdfunding item has failed to reach the minimum number of 5000 backers in time for the Early Bird Ultimate Edition WCW Nitro Debut Hulk Hogan to be included. The deadline for that figure was the end of yesterday (4/7).

Right now as I post this, the campaign has 1,998 Backers. The campaign still has until May 6 to reach the minimum 5k backers needed for the stage along with the Ultimate Edition Rey Mysterio figure to be given the green light to move into production by Mattel. In order for the first stretch goal to be included which is for a Ultimate Edition Diamond Dallas Page figure, the campaign will need to reach 7k backers. If the campaign reaches 9k backers they will also add a Ultimate Edition Scott Steiner figure and if it reaches 11k backers they will also add a Ultimate Edition Ultimate Warrior figure.

How the loss of the Early Bird Hogan figure will effect the overall campaign remains to be seen. Obviously the longer it takes to reach any of the stated goals, the more likely it is more and more people will be hesitant to want to back it if they start to feel all the stretch goals won't be included. If you want more info about the campaign or wish to back it then head over to the MattelCreations website now.

Interesting... I want to get a Lex Luger, Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan red WCW attire... I was big fan on WCW when Hulk and Macho joined them...😃👍🔥

  • 3 weeks later...

The WWE Ultimate Edition WCW Monday Nitro Entrance Stage campaign has entered it's final week and with 6 days remaining it currently has 2,152 Backers of the minimum 5k Backers needed to move into production.

Right now if the campaign which costs $400 reaches 5k Backers by May 6, then folks will get the WCW Nitro Stage as well as the Ultimate Edition Rey Mysterio and Scott Steiner figures.

IF the campaign was to reach 7k Backers by May 6 then it would also include the Ultimate Edition Diamond Dallas Page. At 9k Backers the Ultimate Edition Ultimate Warrior would then be included as well. Finally if it reached 11k Backers then the Ultimate Edition WCW Nitro Debut Hulk Hogan figure would also be included. The Hulk Hogan figure was originally offered as an Early Bird figure but the campaign failed to reach that goal.

With less than a week to go and the campaign still needing at least 2848 Backers to reach the minimum, I can't say it's looking great that this one will end up moving into production. However these type of campaigns do often get a big influx of backers in the final days, so perhaps that will be enough to get it to the 5k finish line, only time will tell. One thing is for sure, time is running out and if this is something you are interested in getting, now is the time to go on and back it.

Can't see it happening at this stage. I know there's a last minute bump, but this much? Shame - looks like there's been a lot of love put into this by the design team. I didn't want it since I'm not a WCW guy, but it's very cool and a shame to not see it going forward at all.

Just goes to show no brand is invulnerable to the whims of crowdfunding and corporate minimum order requirements...

While Mattel has not put out any official statement as of yet, it appears that their latest crowdsourcing campaign on the Mattel Creations for the WWE Ultimate Edition WCW Monday Nitro Entrance Stage failed to reach it's minimum goal of 5k backers and will not be moving forward into production.

The campaign ended last night at 3am ET and looked to only have around 3094 backers. Now that the campaign is over the site no longer lists the final tally of backers, so I can't confirm what the final number was. It definitely looked like it fell short of the 5k though.

The campaign suffered it's first set back when it failed to unlock it's early bird Hulk Hogan Ultimate figure in the first week, but then Mattel tried making some adjustments by adding the Scott Steiner figure along with Rey Mysterio to the initial offering if the campaign reached 5k by May 6. Hogan was added back in as one of the Stretch goals along with Diamond Dallas Page and Ultimate Warrior. The campaign would have needed a total of 11k backers for all stretch goals to be included which never really seemed likely.

The campaign did see a surge of backers in the final week and they even had Hulk Hogan himself cut a promo for the stage with him telling his Hulkamaniacs to go out and back the stage.

This is Mattel's third crowdsourcing campaign and second for the WWE brand held on the Mattel Creations website. Our of the three this is the first one to fail to get funded. I am sure there will be much debate in the coming days among fans on why this campaign failed, but likely it boils down to cost ($400) vs demand, as is always the case with things such as this. What this means for future crowdsourcing items like this from Mattel, I guess only time will tell.

I'm amazed that most wrestling fans didn't get onboard with this...  Anyways the next waves will be WCW figures so I will get a few of my favorites wrestlers like Luger, Savage and others...💡😀

I'm going to guess and say it failed because it didn't have any pull... I mean the set included Hulk Hogan, Scott Steiner, Rey Mysterio, Diamond Dallas Page, and Ultimate Warrior but in reality, those guys are OK.  When you think of WCW Nitro, you think of the nWo.  Mattel should have included Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Hollywood Hogan, and threw in Eric Bischoff.  The set could have been mocked up with nWo spray paint and stuff.

I agree with you. I was expecting kind of a hostile takeover showing as new unlocks with the WCW Nitro banner painted with NWO and a Hall and Nash in jeans but nothing... Kind of lack of imagination from this team. I sometimes think the Joe Haslab team knows who to get people excited that some others...💡

You know what would be really cool is if it's a Ntro set and have Hall and Nash when they first showed up.  Maybe have an Eric Bischoff figure that Nash can powerbomb through a table...
