Parts of the internet want to scream over and over again to "SAVE THE SNYDERVERSE" but it's pretty clear that based on boxed office performance, and whatever streaming numbers HBO is seeing internally, it wasn't remotely as successful as some portions of the internet want you to believe. Also, Warner Media already figured out that a huge portion of the "SNYDERVERSE" was basically fake accounts. The fact that they literally "RELEASED THE SNYDER CUT" and still want to abandon it should tell you how many people actually watched it or give a #$## about it.

How the ‘Justice League’ Snyder Cut Was Driven by Bots & an Ad Agency – Rolling Stone

It's pretty clear that HBO decided that the right move for the DC Universe is to start fresh without any baggage and is essentially declaring that portion of the fandom a vocal minority. And you know what? Good. The SnyderVerse DCU has been a middling and embarrassing mess. It was rushed and half-assed to begin with; a desperate attempt to cash in on the success of the MCU without any of the forethought or understanding about why it. Good riddance. Let's hope Gunn can do a better job. It shouldn't be that difficult.

Zachary Levi has taken to Twitter to clear up claims that he isn't being recast for Shazam! following all the latest dramas with Henry Cavill, Dwayne Johnson, Peter Safran, and James Gunn taking over as co-heads.

Fans have been questioning the future of the DC universe as Safran and Gunn are working on a new era that included recasting Henry Cavill with a younger actor for the role of Superman, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson not reprising his Black Adam role in a sequel for now as the character.

I feel like people are being unreasonable about all this. I mean, I get the disappointment from not getting more of something you like... but with the DCEU we're not really losing that much IMHO. I feel like the last 6 years they haven't really developed anything absolutely groundbreaking or irreplaceable. In 9 years they've made 11 movies and a show?  It's impossible not to draw comparisons to the MCU: 11 movies were made in 7 years, by year 9 we were 17 movies in. The difference was that Marvel had a plan, a clear path to what they wanted to do... and a fan calling the shots.

If they recast everyone I'm gonna miss a lot of the characters because I feel like they were greatly portrayed and cast... but the movies just arent all that. I trust in Gunn.

amen. that phase was pretty forgettable, a reboot/do-over was needed and it really shouldn't be surprising

I definitely agree here. The actors may have fit the roles, but the movies were just mediocre. And people are acting like we didn’t get a new Batman every 3 movies.

Assuming this is an ego thing for Gunn is ignoring a few things.

A. No one has said that he is writing or directing the new Superman film. He’s in charge of managing the direction of the franchise, but they haven’t announced his involvement in any particular films.

B. You’re assuming this was entirely his idea when there’s fairly strong evidence that it wasn’t. Gunn still works for David Zaslov, who has clearly and specifically stated that he wants to completely restart the DCU.

C. As good as Cavill is in the role, the  negative PR impact this has on future films is pretty small. The exact same people who were going to see Cavill in Superman 2 will be going to see whichever actor is in the new one.

Disregarding that this is an ego thing for gunn highlights some other things. (Big fan of james gunns pre-comic book stuff, Alas, he's just not a competent writer and no toilet humor can remedy that.)

1. Hindsight is 20/20 and yet to the silent majority of general audiences it was was clear. Even after his first foray into this with Brightburn which, as mediocre as it was, did not warrant he get a second chance with The Suicide Squad which was also objectively a commercial failure.

2. It has been stated on record that he gave "creative decisions" to change the ending of The Flash and Aquaman 2 utilizing his position as C.E.O to attempt quality additions which ultimately didn't work well for the forthcoming blue beetle.

3. The Suicide Squad is a perfect rebuttal, It didn't make half of what the previous movie did so that doesn't translate well for a new Superman movie that doesn't have Henry Cavill. It will make less than Superman Returns undoubtedly and that's factoring inflation.
